The heading of this article represent the first sentence of the article ( with an error on my part of the word Test instead of ODI) published in Lankaweb under the heading TISSERA PERERA MUST BE TOSSED OUT OF THE ODI TEAM-NEED A POOL OF ALL ROUNDERS TO ENSURE PLACE IN TOP 8”.
There is no shortage of cricketing brains in Sri Lanka. We still have world class present and past cricketers. Sunil Gavaskar’s adverse comments on Sri Lankan cricket display his own ignorance and must question why a commentator like Gavaskar was provided a forum in the panel, when he has clearly displayed his prejudice against Sri Lanka on many occasions. In my books, he is a little dangerous rat and should never be allowed on the panel. Comments of these idiots undoubtedly affect the mental steadiness of the players.
Arjuna Ranatunga has a far superior cricketing brain than Gavaskar. Kaluvitharana, Atapattu, Aravinda, Mahela, Kumar, Sanath, Dilshan, Chaminda Vaas, Murali have all put together greater innings than Gavaskar, Kapil Dev etc.
In World Cricket, Sri Lanka’s record of 952 test runs aginst India is still shining. At that time, India had: Mongia, Sidhu, Rahul Dravid, Tendulkar, Azharruddin, Ganguly, Anil Kumble, a colourful comibination of dominant players. Against the like of Indian team, Sri Lankan Greats were : Sanath, Atapattu, Mahanama, Aravinda, Arjuna, Mahela, Kalu, Vaas, etc.
Sri Lankan pool of resources are still available. The team is currently mismanaged mainly due to lack of leadership.
The conflict of interest is dominating in most of the Key CEO equivalent positions in Private and Public Sector in Sri Lanka, including the roles of Ministers in Cabinet.
There is no doubt, our past legendary cricketers are unwilling or afraid to be heavily involved with Sri Lankan Cricket at this moment. Our great cricketers are not in Money Laundering or Gambling Business. They have maintained their reputation after they left the game.
To clean up, there is no short cut. Our Minister of Sports is hopeless. He is a great singer, he can sing over and over SARA SANDA PAYALA, but Jayasekera must get out of Sports. Likes of Sumathipala should not be involved in Sports. These two gentlemen must resign and clear the way for our cricketing professionals to take over the leadership and management of Sri Lankan Cricket.

First of all Malinga shall be kicked out. He is the main burden right now. With ocational wicket he is surviving. This must be stopped. He is saying he will play until 2023, a dissaster for the team.
Specially playing outside Australia, NZ and South Africa, for ODI we only can afford tow fast bowlers. Malinga staying in the team does not allow the ‘experience’ the young real fast bowlers like Kumara, Chameera and Asitha deserv. Maling is dropping catches, slak in the field allowing 4 s and 6s , bowling is ineffective although his reputation scares off a few still. Youngesters on the other hand drop his catches ( purposely ?). Surely most yougester do nto like him coming and going like a boss.
Another problem is the smoker Chaminda Vass. He is insisting on left arm bowlers than insisting on the best. He is not coaching ringht arm bolwers. He cannot be the head bowling coach.
Another thing is cricketers dependance on Jesus, drawing crosses too many times which we cannot see in ANY OTHER TEAM. Worshipping shall be prohabitted in the field. They must be taught to be strong without God or Buddha even. Buddha , God do not like wasting time on entertainment. If we want to progress in cricket , God must GO first.

IPL and SUMATHIPALA ruined SL cricket.
But cricket is not alone. ALL other sectors have collapse!
I worked hard to bring Sira to power. Never knew this will be end result. NO ONE could have predicted.

While it is true Sumathipala has been a stumbling block to shift from club structure to a provincial one, the interference of Shammi Silva,the CCC President into the selection process & other financial irregularities should be condemned forthwith & exposed. It was reported how funds were diverted to the CCC on the pretext of staging a match against the visiting Aussies which never took place.Munaweera, not fit to be an ODI batsman has been given a place (today over Mendis at that) because he joined the CCC from Bloomfield, the Island reports. And the reason Kapu got the captaincy & a place in the team was reported because he is joining the CCC next year. How many like these gone behind the doors by this individual who is reported to be a close friend of the sports minister to the detriment of the SL cricket, any fool can understand.

M D P DISSANAYAKE as for Sunil Gavaskars comments I think you are wrong he likes Sri Lankan cricket very much as a fellow South Asian cricketing nation. That said he is used to seeing Sri Lankan cricketers in the last 27 years fight and scrap hard for every run. He is in fact correct, Sri Lanka has been very poor in this test series against India. He would have preferred a better contest between the two proud South Asian cricketing nations so he is obviosly angry and upset that Sri Lanka didnt even bother to take this series seriously or bother to turn up. I for one dont see what the problem is with Sunil Gavaskars comments regarding Sri Lankan team. M D P DISSANAYAKE he is just stating what a good number of people are thinking about this Sri Lankan team in both India and Sri Lanka. No need to get upset about it. I for one fully agree with him. I hope Sri Lanka improves, because Sri Lanka are a great team to watch when they are successful. Time is running out for the Sri Lanka regarding the 2019 WC. Its upto those in Sri Lanka running Sri Lankan cricket and commentaters like yourself M D P DISSANAYAKE to highlight the issues. No point being upset about Sunil Gavaskar a highly respected cricketer and commentater who knows what he is talking about. He is just stating the obvious facts. I for one fully agree with Mr Sunil Gavaskar.
