Speaker Karu Jayasuriya informed Parliament a short while ago that only some sections of the Bond Commission Report had been received and that they would be tabled, when the remaining sections were also received. He said he had requested for them as well.

Yet ANOTHER ATTEMPT to AVOID RELEASING the List of Bribe Takers!

These DELAYING TACTICS will CONTINUE ad infinitum, ad nauseam!

Names of 164 recipients must be revealed. UNPers (PM, Speaker and presidential secretary Austin) are deliberately trying to hide these names.

But there is a bigger power play here. Mahinda and the crowd don’t want to push the matter (and they are not doing it).

Sirisena will use it to blackmail the 164 MPs to support him or face prosecution. This is what Mahinda did in 2007 with the COPE report. He used it to threaten UNP MPs in the report to either join him or face prosecution. A number of them joined and the others went silent.

If Sirisena has national interest at heart, he should get these MPs to support the abolishing of executive presidency (or face prosecution). He can also use this pressure to force the UNP to speed up prosecution of Rajapaksas and other opponents of him.

GOD FORBID! ABOLISHING the EXECUTIVE PRESIDENCY is the VERY WORST THING BAR NONE for Sri Lanka NOW!
