MANNAR GRAVE YARD AND HUMAN RIGHT VIOLATION OF THE DUTCH AND TAMILS

There is no doubt that the grave yard uncovered by Sri Lanka’s government in Mannar, was a sacrifice of Catholic faith during the Dutch era. When we attended to Catholic festivals in the Madu Church in the past, the incident was publicly memorised by the Catholic Church and special prayers were conducted by the Catholic Church on account of these martyrs. I think late Chilaw Catholic Bishop, Reverend Edmond Peiris conducted historical studies on this martyrdom. Most probably these martyrs were lower caste Tamils, who converted to Catholic religion against the suppress of the high caste Vellalala people in Jaffna. Buddhists were not associated with this crime against humanity and they demonstrated an exemplary standard.
As we understood, the Dutch administration directly supported to kill innocent Catholics and Hindu Tamils (so-called Tamil provincial administrator, Sankili and his supporters) also extended the support to the Dutch administration for this type of killing.
If we further trace the history a Catholic Convent in Manner was very famous during the Portuguese era. Princes Dona Katarina who was a daughter of King Karaliyadde, was studied in that convent and it is believed that King Rajasinghe the Second also studied there. He was fluent in protégées and the Dutch languages. King Karalliyadde also died in Mannar suffering from smallpox epidemic and he may have buried in the same grave yard.
This might be a case for the crime against humanity of the Dutch rulers and high caste Tamils.
It is required to further investigate with documents. The government of Sri Lanka should not coverup this and disclose to the United Nations.

මන්නාරම් සමූහ මිණිවලේ කැනීම් කටයුතු වහාම ක්‍රියාත්මක වන පරිදි නැවත දිනයක් දැනුම් දෙන තුරු අද (08) සිට නැවත්වීමට මන්නාරම් මහේස්ත්‍රාත් ටී.සර්වනරාජා මහතා නියෝග කර තිබේ.
මන්නාරම් සමූහ මිණීවලේ ඇටසැකිළි පිළිබඳ වූ කාල නිරණ වාර්ථාව ඊයේ (07) දිනයේදී මන්නාරම් අධිකරණයෙන් ප්‍රසිද්ධියට පත් කිරීමෙන් පසුව අද (08) දිනයේදී මන්නාරම් මහෙස්ත්‍රාත් වරයා විසින් කැනීම් සිදු කරන ලද විශේෂඥ වෛද්‍ය කණ්ඩායමට මෙම නියෝගය ලබා දී ඇත.
ඒ පිළිබඳව අදහස් දක්වමින් අධිකරණ විශේෂඥ වෛද්‍ය ශමින්ද රාජපක්ෂ මහතා මෙලෙස සඳහන් කළේය.
‘‘අද දිනයේදී මන්නාරම් සමූහ මිණිවලේ කැනීම් කටයුතු සිදු කරමින් සිටි විශේෂඥ වෛද්‍ය වරුන් ඇතුලු කැනීම් අංශ නිලධාරීන් සියලු දෙනා එම ස්ථානයෙන් ඉවත් වන අතරම , නැවත මේ මස 20 වනදාගෙන් පසු දිනක මන්නාරම් මහෙස්ත්‍රාත් ටී.සර්වනරාජ් මහතාගේ ප්‍රධානත්වයෙන් හා කැනීම් සිදු කළ වෛද්‍යවරුන් මෙන්ම මහජන නියෝජිතයින්ගේද සහභාගීත්වයෙන් විශේෂ සාකච්ඡාවක් සිදු කරනවා.
මෙම සමූහ මිණිවලේ ඉදිරි කැනීම් කටයුතු සිදු කරනවාද නැද්ද යන්න පිළිබඳව අවසන් තීරණයක් ගන්නේ ඊට පස්සේ.
එමෙන්ම මේ වන විට මන්නාරම් සමූහ මිණිවලේ මෙතෙක් සිදු කරන ලද කැනීම් වලදී මිනිස් සිරුරු කොටස් 342 ක් හමු වී ඇති අතර ඉන් සම්පූරණ මිනිස් සිරුරු කොටස් 330 ක් ඉවත් කරලා මන්නාරම් අධිකරණයේ තැන්පත් කර ඇති අතරම එම සිරුරු අතර කුඩා ළමුන්ගේ සිරුරු කොටස් 30 ක් තියෙනවා.

Magistrate orders to suspend Mannar mass grave excavations
Mannar Magistrate T. Saravanarajah today ordered to suspend the excavations at the Mannar mass grave site until further notice.
Judicial Medical Officer (JMO) Saminda Rajapaksa said they would withdraw from the site following the court order.
He said the excavation officers are scheduled to meet the Magistrate on April 20 and a decision on future action would be taken during the meeting.
The carbon dating report from the Beta Analytic Institute of Florida, US, earlier revealed that the skeletal remains found in the mass grave date back to a period between 1499 and 1719 AD. (Romesh Madushanka)
