The Sinhala saying goes as “Wetath nearath goyam kanam kata kiyamuda ee amaruwa”.
This is the plight of we Sri Lankans. My last bill works out to be about Rs.38 per unit (without surcharges of about 30% for late payment due to technical fault of their systems). The video given below says in the US the current rate is 10 cents per unit (kwh) which works out to be about Rs.18.50/kwh. Germany has the most technically developed solar cell manufacturing systems and they generate about 40% of their national needs from Solar. In those countries they have to adjust the angle of the exposure to get maximum power as sun does not shine directly above them. We have abundance of sun light almost vertically above us throughout the year. Why have we not tapped it all his time?. Now we know that there is a mafia in Diyawanna itself.

The answer to this problem is to give a free hand to Solar energy production. These mafia will then go out of business. More over the solar in villages can be connected with water supply as well including rain water harvesting where water table is deep.

Only thing the prez will have to have a dynamic team with set target.
