MERRY CHRISTMAS -Merry for Humans and Hell for Animals

The scene today in the month of December is somber.

The unseen sight is that countless millions of innocent animals destined for slaughter are being shipped in large container ships with multiple decks from country to country over long distances in the sea.

Huge trucks with several decks can be seen busily moving on the street roads carrying packed exhausted animals in crates to slaughterhouses.

Screams of defenseless animals in fear of death penetrate the atmosphere nonstop day and night in this month of December. To animals, it is a cursed month.

The planet Earth becomes wet & red with their blood streaming down like rivers in this December month.

The owners of supermarkets and stores become accomplices to murder after the fact by filling the shelves with animal body parts and the various shaped products made from their flesh.

Decorated live animals i.e., chickens, pigs, goats, and even cows are delivered alive to houses to be killed and flesh consumed in celebration of the birth anniversary of the so-called ‘Prince of Peace.

Private homes are turned into slaughterhouses in violation of the laws prohibiting blood shedding and Home Slaughter i.e., the illegal killing of animals in residences.

The tables in decorated homes will be filled with the flesh and slaughter products of defenseless animals whose precious lives have been ended prematurely by the inhumanity of man long before the end of the animal’s natural life.

People celebrate the anniversary of the birth of the founder of their religion by merry-making with alcohol (wine) & dining (eating meat).

Furthermore, Supermarkets, Radio and TV Channels, and Banks force feed their captive customers with music drawn from only one religious tradition beginning on the 1st of December every year. One can hear the unceasing sounds of jingle bells ringing around the world wishing Merry Christmas to everyone, ad nauseam, irrespective of the religious beliefs of the listeners. This is unsolicited and high-handed conduct worthy of intervention by the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka to protect the rights of Supermarket consumers. No one has a constitutional right to push the sounds of their religion down the throats of people belonging to other religions not for one or two days but for one whole month.

Christmas – a day lacking compassion

Christmas has turned out to be a day of hypocrisy. There is no true merry-making, no peace, no happiness, and no love for non–human sentient beings on this planet. A day full of double standards.

A day that excludes moral attention being given to the plight of animals. Fun and frolic at the expense of the lives of non–humans are the hallmark of Christmas. Heavy indulgence. No abstinence.

Whoever has no compassion for animals has no genuine compassion.
