There is hardly any intelligent discourse on the Aftermath of Eelam becoming a Reality. Most of the time what you see is analysis paralysis, legalese and protests against Tamil Separatists clamouring for Eelam. These are politicians, sometimes half-baked academics and at other times by genuine patriots not full conversant of the modus operandi of Sri Lanka’s enemies. People in Sri Lanka must be told in no uncertain terms the implications of separation, having a border and future relations between separated peoples and how rosy it will be given recent ethnic belligerency. They only understand when it hits between the eyes! Till then they are blind, feign not to see and only concerned about what immediately profit them. They have forgotten that Sri Lankans fought a 30-year terrorist war against the deadliest terrorist outfit of the world, the LTTE – aided and abetted by foreign powers inimical to the existence of Sri Lanka, as well as by their local catspaws! They even brought into power a political party hell bent on re-writing known history and now openly colluding with the remnants of the LTTE – the so-called Diaspora LTTE!

  • What will be the future of the Sinhalese and Tamils living in the border areas. Even today, 15 years after the end of hostilities, these are the most neglected citizen of Sri Lanka.
  • What will be the future of Tamils living among the Sinhalese in the South? There is hardly any Sinhalese left in the North other than in a few villages close to Vavuniya. Statistics show more than 50% of Tamils live among the Sinhalese in the South.
  • What will happen to the places of religious worship and archaeological sites – mostly Buddhist in the North and East?
  • How are farmers across this border going to share water for their agri needs? How many Mavil Arus – flash points for war – do we need?
  • What will happen to the cross-border security – smuggling, drug trafficking, people trafficking, crime, terrorism etc etc? Can this nearly 500 km long border ever be policed and if so at what cost?
  • What is there to stop an influx of Tamilians from Tamil Nadu leading to massive demographic changes?
  • Will Eelam be a boon or bane for India? Will it become the stepping stone for the balkanization of India at the behest of Neo-Colonial powers? Balkanization of large countries especially those that are historically recent colonial constructs, such as India, Indonesia, Canada, Malaysia and Myanmar etc are in the offing and in their agenda. Take note of regime change attempts and colour revolution like uprisings – Bangladesh, Indonesia subsequent to that in Sri Lanka 2022!

Eelam Map as depicted in the stamp issued by Eelamists in 1980

It is easy to see that the Eelam of 1980 with the entire hardcore separatist thinking at that time did not include land south of Mannar ”…” Puttalam and Chilaw and the areas of Akkaraipattu and Potuvil.

Eelam Map 2009

The new map includes areas up to Negombo in West and up to the banks of the Kumbukkan Oya in the East.

Eelam – Sri Lanka border

The history of border wars around the world is stuff of history. Even today there are hundreds of border conflicts / wars taking place around the world. India / Pakistan, India / China, Russia / Ukraine, USA/ Mexico and even USA / Canada just to name. a few. Sri Lanka has been fortunate not to have any land borders during the entire history of the island. There are no definitive hill ranges or rivers that permit separate physical ethnic existence in Sri Lanka. If Eelam is given will the border between Eelam and Sri Lanka stay peaceful? From day one it will be problematic. We don’t have to go far to see the level of disruption to civilian life such a division can cause – looking at the partition of India history and subsequent mass migrations and warlike situation that exist to this day – the problem of Rohingyas in Myanmaar, China / India border clashes emanating from the McMahon Line a British Colonial construct.

Potential flash points for war

Majority of Sri Lankans living in the contested areas are peasant farmers, for whom, land and water are the only life giving resources. Without a central authority to decide on the use of land and water resources there will be constant conflicts across waterways of Sri Lanka. Every waterway crossing of this undefined border will become a potential Mavil Aaru! Sri Lanka has suffered enough during 30 years of war. Do ordinary people on either side of this border want perpetual war? It is not the ordinary people who clamour for war. There are many interested parties other than ordinary people who wants to keep the island destabilized for their own ends. One major party are the land owning so-called high caste elites in the North who offer Eelam as a carrot and a fig leaf to the low caste majority to remain as the arbiters of power in the North. If land and police powers are granted to Eelam will the border shown stay static?  Eelamists imagination knows no bounds. There will be incessant wars over land and waterways and the border will move ever southwards in a pincer move to till Eelamists grab the head waters of the Mahaveli.  Eventually it will be Anschluss with hill country Tamils – annexation of the Indian Tamil areas in the hill country.

200 Mile International Economic Zones  – Sri Lanka  and  Eelam

Call for land powers is the thin end of the iceberg that is Eelam. With the granting of land powers Sri Lanka will loose the 2/3 of its International 200 mile economic zone. Ocean is the next human frontier and the repository of many resources yet to discovered.

Continental Shelf around Sri Lanka

Who will own the riches of continental shelf around Sri Lanka, the shallow water marine reservesoil, gas, fisheries and other?  2/3rd will be gobbled up by Eelam! The potential oil and gas reserves and major harbors including Trincomalee will be lost forever.

Sinhalese will be left between the Eelamists and deep blue seaAren’t the politicos compromising the inheritance and heritage of our present and future generations and holding us for ransom?

What’s next for Sri Lanka? Will there be anything left of Sri Lanka to call Sri Lanka? Now it is up to the peaceful Sinhalese and Tamils not to let Eelam happen if they ever desire peace and prosperity in their lifetimes. How much all Sri Lankans have lost during the Eelam Wars? Motorola were about to set up an assembly plant in Sri Lanka in early 1980, when the terrorist bombs went off. They went and set up their assembly plant in Malaysia. Where is Sri Lanka today and where is Malaysia today?

Outside of Sri Lanka all what we see are the different agendas of contending parties who jokey to grab power in Sri Lanka. They work through the UN and related agencies to keep Sri Lanka destabilized till they are ready to set foot on Sri Lanka soil. ACSA, SOFA and MCC, AKHAND INDIA and the BELT and the ROAD are all pulling in different directions each salivating to gobble up our Motherland.

The Future Sri Lanka can only be a playground for Neo Colonial powers led by USA, India and China where every attempt will be done to obliterate the Sri Lanka identity, physically, culturally and spiritually!

Let the people of Sri Lanka be educated on the repercussions of the aftermath of Eelam and the possible re-colonisation of Sri Lanka!
