Needed: A benevolent dictator

If one looks at history, many countries developed under autocratic rule. Sri Lanka, under Sinhala kings, prospered due to strict rules and control of the masses.

Even a private company develops in keeping with the vision of the CEO.

Russia, Iran, Iraq, Libya and especially Oman, developed under dictatorships.

As I have written before, what we need is a benevolent dictator. Under MR, we had autocratic rule, but alleged corruption brought an end to the regime which had discipline, and vision to develop infrastructure despite nepotism etc.

But, today we have no discipline or vision, but a lot of talk and frustration.

I see garbage on roads, encroachments along the roads developed by the previous regime, bribery and corruption, nepotism and greed. We talk about an orange revolution and some have even written books about it, but the country is at a standstill.

We read the newspapers with photographs of farmers in loincloth in Colombo, demanding solutions to their problems.

Time was when farmers did not have to protest. Leaders like Dudley and Premadasa met them in paddy fields. President Maithripala Sirisena is from a farming family. Maybe he does not want to get back to the paddy field!

Let the Prime Minister’s and the President’s Offices be shifted to a place like Muthurajawela so that everyone goes there to demonstrate and Colombo will be free from traffic blocks. Someone has to take over the reins of to lead the masses and trade unions and do something. Otherwise, there will be anarchy.

Welcome to the world of humble Lorenzo (IQ 168). More and more people depending on their LEVEL OF INTELLIGENCE come to realize SL needs a BENEVOLENT DICTATOR.

Great spirits have always encountered opposition from mediocre minds. The mediocre mind is INCAPABLE of understanding the man who refuses to bow blindly to CONVENTIONAL prejudices and chooses instead to express his opinions courageously and honestly.” – Einstein

Demo-crazy was IMPOSED by the British for their OWN benefit AFTER creating a SYSTEM that TIED SL to colonials’ arses. We need to BREAK FREE from this curse. Even the FARMER who washed off his mud (after becoming king) was turned into a western arse worm by this stupid system!!

But a dictatorship is NOT forever. After doing STRUCTURAL CHANGES and GOOD HOME GROWN CONSTITUTION power goes back to the people. SL people are NOT tolerant of dictatorship for a LONG TIME. But they are coming to realize a DICTATOR IS ESSENTIAL for the TRANSITION.

Thank you for this article LW.

I ask people to THINK in the LONG TERM without getting trapped into MR, anti-MR short term term nonsense. SL’s average MALE life expectancy is 71.6 years. That means MR won’t make it to the NEXT parliament or presidential election. FEMALE life expectancy is 78.5 years. That means CBK will OUTLIVE MR for another 7 years. Get that to your heads. Don’t wait till 2020 to realize it. There is NO HOPE in democrazy for SL.

    IQ 168+,
This writing doesn’t ask for a DICTATOR. It asks for a “benevolent dictator”.
So far , “benevolent” part is applied to Tamils only and “dictator” part to Sinhalese only.

    – Nanda (IQ 50-)

  3. Lorenzo Says:

    Nanda,

A BENEVOLENT DICTATOR is still a dictator.

    NOT a prime minister.
    NOT an executive president.

For Tamils, ALL SL leaders were dictators!! Only THALAIVAR was a democrat and the SOLE representative.

  4. Sarath W Says:

We had 67 years of independence, but the “so called” democracy imposed on us by the British has failed in Sri Lanka. Under the ancient kings Sri Lanka was prosperous and self sufficient, but after independence we had to do things please our foreign masters to survive. In a country like ours we can not have a 5 star democracy as we need to do things that will not please everyone. At every election we hear absurd promises and the masses chose to believe them. Under a dictatorship this will not happen. MR failed because he tried to please the ungrateful, selfish and unpatriotic minorities.

  5. Ratanapala Says:

Aappaya promised to rule from Polonnaruwa. Now the Vatican is more closer to him than Polonnaruwa. Better things are yet to come!

  6. Susantha Wijesinghe Says:

Ratanapala !! Good one. Fully agree with you.

LORENZO !! This whole episode, brings us back to Military Rule, **The Benevolent**

  7. Nanda Says:

But I suspect Aappaya is the only hope at the moment to stop Ranils ambitions. UNPEErs have started attacking Aappya on their Pandam websites. In fatc they attack all non-Unpeers.

  8. cassandra Says:

A benevolent dictator? That’s a contradiction in terms, if ever you heard one, and wishing for one must be the ultimate political death wish. The remedy for the alleged present ills does not lie with a dictatorship – of any kind. Forget it, and let’s look elsewhere – surely, there has to be a limit even to national masochistic yearnings.

  9. mario_perera Says:

    Dear Cassandra,

I saw your name on the comments list and rushed immediately to see what you had written.

I am happy to note that I totally agree with you.

“surely, there has to be a limit even to national masochistic yearnings”.

    Thank you,

  10. Lorenzo Says:

Good news from cricket. BUNDH SL!

All round LOSS and DEFEAT for SL since 2015. BUNDH!

  11. Christie Says:

Dear Prof. Sarath; Indian imperialist have managed to divide the Sinhalese to so many political factions and minority Indian colonial parasites have managed to run the country.

  12. cassandra Says:

    MP,
    Many thanks.
