No matter who is right and who is wrong, this infighting only panders into the LTTE plan.
Already Jagath, Gotabhaya and Mahinda blamed Fonseka and Fonseka in turn blamed Jagath and Gotabhaya. Karannagoda blamed Travis and vice versa. These 6 persons were the highest ranked military men during the war and they are going at each other!
In 2008, Basil hinted the STF was doing what constitute war crimes.

I will be surprised if STF personnel (victims, their colleagues and other potential victims) will not retaliate.
All this because Tamil war crimes were not investigated. Sri Lanka has no tool to counter war crimes allegations. If Tamil war crimes were investigated, those could be used to negotiate a win-win deal. What happened in South Africa was an investigation into crimes of all. As a result the subsequent deal didn’t discriminate one group against the other on crimes. Since Sri Lanka has already lost the case, each man is for himself. This is what we see from these people.
It will worsen and lower ranks will implicate higher ups. Lower ranks cannot afford expensive lawyers. Their only way out is to pass the buck upwards.
Mahinda recent closed door meeting with Sampanthan should be looked at in this context. He may have agreed to a way out for his clan by supporting (or not opposing) the new constitution. The above incident involving Basil clearly proves, this is possible.
As nationalists, we must not take sides between Mahinda, Fonseka, etc. We must prioritise Sri Lankan interests opportunistically. Taking sides worsens the situation and panders into the LTTE Rump plan. Fonseka is not going to vanish into thin air. He is here to stay. So are his powerful supporters including the current army commander.

We have entered a very dangerous phase in the war crimes and constitutional affairs. Readers must understand why they go hand in hand. Tamil Eelamists are using one to advance the other. Any wrong move now will have catastrophic and irreversible implications on the nation.
Objective thinking is what is needed, not playing politics.
The military must be saved at all cost (emphasised), not politicians. As we don’t have a bargaining tool against Tamil war crimes, one may have to be sacrificed to save the other. A patriot doesn’t have any problem in identifying what/who should be sacrificed and what/who should be saved in this hopeless situation.
If the military or top military personnel are implicated, we may lose the military as it will be seriously scaled down. In addition, politicians will not oppose the confederate constitution to save themselves. LTTE Rump and TNA have done their homework by making use of the corrupt and unpatriotic political system of Sri Lanka where dog eats dog.
As most Sri Lankans are part of this system, I don’t expect most to agree with me.

@Dilrook. I agree with you 100%. I don’t know whether any one remember that SF transfered JJ from cactive role to somewhere without much responsibility. Mahinda “promoted” SF after war to chief of staff and entrusted JJ with commander position. Whether he is a patriot or not people would decide, but he appears to have credible evidence. Unncessary killing of people in Colombo even after the war accusing them to be LTTE will not end up with title ‘war hero” rather shall be condemned. We can’t entrust RW to prosecute actual criminals but he will punish the REAL WAR HEROs instead.

Sarath Fonseka is a revengful traitor who will even sell his mother to save himself. He is trying to shift all the blame to Gotthabaya and wash his hands of any wrong doing. Tamils will use him in a big way to bring down the SL armed forces. Sorry to say but Sinhalese are the worst people on earth. Tamils would have NEVER betrayed their own no matter how murderous the LTTE was. I am ashamed to be a Sinhalese today.

What about the Crimes committed by the LTTE for nearly 30 yrs. – rural Sinhala folk losing their lives by the thousands murdered by the LTTE, hundreds of Tamil youth killed and maimed for not joining the LTTE, UNP leadership & other leaders decimated during the Cold War times, billions of ruppees funds lost, properties both govt & private destroyed, reputation of the country lost. …… all forgotten and white washed ?

We think that SF too suffered from PTSD after the LTTE suicide bomber attacked him.
It was Gota who got SF airlifted to S’pore for treatment at govt costs, and saved his life, was it not ?
Lanka present lot in power under pressure to blame Lanka War Heroes & put down the former Presidents family, and also ‘divide & rule’ the Sinhala leaders and masses ?
Would any govt in the west or INDIA do such stupid and diabolical things ?

As Dilrook said, not conducting a ‘war crimes’ investigation soon after the war completely destroyed credibility of REAL WAR HEROES who scarifices their lives and made the commanders rich ( except Fonseka who was sent to jail). Jagath comes form a rich Colombo family and he was made commander as the biggest commanders (politicians) could trust him than Fonseka. Shoudln’t this make even any non-arahant angry let alone a soldier like Fonseka who is mentally sick now with a revangeful mind ?

When I said ‘war crimes’ it should include all, especially LTTE and those commanders of LTTE who we caught. It could have been even extended to Batalanda becuase we see Mahinda team now publishing some evidence which he couldn’t find for 10 years in power.

SF has fully gone MAD now.
When he claims credit for winning the war it is good. When war crimes time comes he washes his hands off.
Gonzeka’s role in sacrificing 200+ SF troops in MUHAMALAI must be investigated. It was a DELIBERATE DEBACLE.
