Chief Minister Wignesvaran and Federalism

This week the Chief Minister of the Northern Provincial Council, Mr C.V. Wignesvaran (CV) had a meeting with the Mahanayake of the Malwatte Chapter and the Maha Sanga of Asgiriya. During these discussions, he had said that he wanted Federalism for the North. He had also added that the best option is to confer Federal status to Provincial Councils. For a small country like Sri Lanka where there are different nationalities why should there be Federal states? It appears that the creation of Provincial Councils itself was a disaster. It is a costly exercise and has only given more jobs to politicians. If they are granted Federal Status with land and police powers it would create more problems to the Central govt. Further, we cannot ignore the fact that Tamil Nadu is not that far from Sri Lanka. And it is no secret that our Tamil politicians rush to Tamil Nadu leaders about their ‘grievances’ and Tamil Nadu politicians are manipulative. So CV’s demand for Federalism is nothing but a stepping stone for separatism. As Federalism is a ‘sensitive’ topic both the UNP and the SLFP have avoided bringing it up since independence. The majority of the people are for a unitary state and CV’s demand for a Federal state is for 12 per cent of the population.
Then CV had said that the Sinhalese do do not trust the Tamils. In fact, the Sinhalese trust the Tamils but not Tamil politicians, especially the former LTTE activists now in the political arena in the North, who are not giving enough support for the reconciliation process. CV had also made representations about ‘intimidating military pressure’ in the North and demanded total withdrawal of the armed forces. During the tail-end of the war, the army saved more than 300,000 tamils who were running away from the LTTE as they had been brutally treated. CV who lived safely in Colombo 7 then, has become critical of the army now and pose as a saviour of the Tamils !

CV is right. Sinhalese don’t trust Tamils. Rather, Sinhalese are incapable of trusting Tamils anymore. Why ?
Premadsasa trusted a Tamil and he killed him. Mahinda trusted CV and he bacame a LTTEr. Chandirka tusted Tamils and they extracted one of her eyes.
CV, please remove this evil from Tamils. Then wait for 5 years and we can talk about TRUST.

nothing new in your articale since 1948 eg: Fedaral,a stepping stone, a unitary state etc…..
whether We both community like it or nor 13A will be fully implemeneted soon or later it may take 25 years or more ( at least 5 more PC election) .
only my concern is implement 6A as well other wise We-Tamil go for UD of Saiva TE for NPS than India another IPKF will be step into Mother Lanka to stay for ever at least last time We had our Thesiya Thalavar VP to kick them out but now one.

Tamil folk who migrated to the west (after the trumped up 1983 Riots, as REFUGEES, no other way to go west, and therefore the Ritos), and other areas in the world do NOT demand FEDERALISM or Eelam or separate states for Tamil people only.
It is ONLY in Sri Lanka that these demands are made.
Why ONLY in Lanka ?
It is because of the PROXIMITY OF TAMIL NADU, THE HOMELAND OF THE TAMILS, and also of INDIA. Has to be these two reasons.
Points to Note :
1. Tamil Nadu has a huge some 15 Million Tamil people of Dalit descent. It is in their birth certificates and the INDIAN census is done on Caste base. These people want to leave Tamil Nadu & INDIA behind and be free of Caste. The closest point is to cross over to Lanka. This attitutde has to stop and Tamil Nadu become the true Homeland of all Tamils.
2. The Global Tamil Forum also feeds on Separatism in Lanka. This idea is encouraged by some politicos & VIPs abroad due to Cold War style politics, bribes of funds & votes etc by the GTF, in various places.
3. Tamil Nadu was a Separatist sub-state of INDIA till PM Nehru’s anti-Secessionist Law came into action in 1963. The Tamil Nadu Separatist program was transferred to Sri Lanka.
It seems to us that Mr Wigneswaran is the latest main candidate to carry forward such programs.
Sri Lanka govts now and future must be aware that these Tamil LEADERS Separatist ideas will go on and on, and steps must be taken to eradicate such Separatist ideas or else Sri Lanka will sink into a being like a weak state a “carcass in the desert on which vultures will feed”.
First, REMOVE the ILLEGAL 13-A imposed by INDIA on Lanka under DURESS on the JRJ govt in 1987.
In the long run, this would serve INDIAN interests very well and remove the threat of Secession by Tamil Nadu.
Sri Lanka govt shoud sign an Agreement with INDIA that Sri Lanka would never threaten the Security issues of INDIA.

INDIA has to do likewise, not to threaten the Security Issues of Sri Lanka.
Thus ensure mutual Security of both countries.
The UN Security Council can be the witness to such an Agreement.
That would be in keeping with the UN Agenda to bring good relations between countries.

13-A imposed by INDIA on Lanka- Untouchable Indo/Lanka Baby only We-Lankan can dilute time to time by passing new amendments (eg:20A). so no point of talking about 13A for removal cos soon or later it will be forcefully or volanteray fully implemented in OUR Sinhela Island by India.
My concern We-Mother Puthas should Implement 6A sooner better than later to avoid any separation or for any excuse to India to come back as IPKF .

Tamil leaders need NOT heed the 6-A at all.
Now the North is aleady in a Federal type arrangement through the 13-A PCs and headed for Confederal status (per Attorney Chanaka Bandarage).
Confederal area will automatically lead to Tamil Eelam.
(Confederal means they are VOLUNTARILY in that position – which means, they can REMOVE THE VOLUNTARY Confederal arrangement and move to Separation i.e. Tamil Eelam).
So the 6-A is defunct, a virtually useless piece of legislation right now, a piece of legislation which has not been used at the right time.
Throw out the 13-A, PCs and all is the only answer.
If Eelam is formed, TN & INDIAN culture will likely reimpose CASTE on all of the North.
Northern birth certs will start carrying CASTE.
The Census there will be done on a CASTE base.
Already the Indian HC in Lanka says it is a good idea for Sri Lankans to learn Hindi !!

The 13-A is in the way of the 6-A being implemented.
The 13-A GRANTS various forms of SEPARTISM.
Even though the 13-A is ILLEGAL (imposed under DURESS and therefore ILLEGAL), the 13-A is still there ! The 13-A is visibly dividing the country up.
So, for Sri Lanka to survive as a single and united country, the 13-A must be removed.
ALL minorities of Lanka must join in and form a PATRIOTIC FRONT to do so.

The 13-A GRANTS various forms of SEPARTISM.- 100% Correct , as We both know It is Indian big brother baby so it can not be touched so now WE both thing as Mother Lankan ,how to stop separation of OUR Chignkala Theevu (Sinhela Island) only way at present time available is implement 6A ( law of the land now ) over night , rest our children or Gran do their time .
No Tamil want separation ( Include Chela/GGP/ Amirthalingam/ Sampanthan/ CM Viggie) apart from our Thesiya Thalaivar VP ( He did not have any alternative) .
Our both community problem is misunderstanding & ignorance nothing else .
