The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) yesterday blamed President Maithripala Sirisena for the defeat of what it called the no-confidence battle in Parliament last week. It said the UNP dissidents would definitely have voted for the motion if the President had not scuttled the Joint Opposition’s move to oust the PM, at the eleventh hour.

Addressing the SLPP’s weekly media briefing, at its headquarters in Battaramulla, SLPP Chairman Prof. G.L Peiris said that the government had lost its two-thirds majority in parliament and there was no way it could go ahead with its constitution-making project.

The SLPP alleged that Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe had struck a deal with the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) to get their support to defeat the NCM and the TNA’s conditions were inimical to the national interest.

I wholeheartedly AGREE with the above SLPP assessment!

In this connection, I post below a comment I made recently atLankaWeb:

    …………………..
    Dear Charles and other Patriots,

Do not be SAD! These are the DARK CLOUDS that darken the sky BEFORE the SUN SHINES THROUGH!

The NCM was DEFEATED because Maithripala Sirisena decided to ABANDON his Sinhala Buddhist Community and PERSUADED 26 of his SLFP faction MPs to stand aside WITHOUT VOTING for it. This is a DESHADROHI ACT of HIGH ORDER!

This ONE ACT of these TRAITORS is now INDELIBLY ETCHED in the minds of the Sinhala Buddhist VOTER whose support they must have in the NEXT ELECTIONS! It is the VOTER who will decide the OUTCOME, not the 225 Mee Harak in Parliament!

NO AMOUNT of FAKE Propaganda, Party Reorganizations and Holier-Than-Thou homilies can CONFUSE and OBFUSCATE these FACTS!

COME NEXT ELECTIONS, ALL TRAITORS in the Yamapalanaya in the SLFP and the UNP will be BOOTED OUT and PUNISHED SEVERELY!

Until then, we MUST CARRY ON and STAY THE COURSE waving the LION FLAG held high!

I REMEMBER VERY WELL the DEEP GLOOM and DOOM of the period before MR launched the War-Winning, Nation-Reunifying WAR EFFORT! No one believed that we could accomplish the DEFEAT of the LTTE with such VERVE and DASH, but WE DID! Those HEROES and their LEADERS are STILL with US …. NEVER FEAR!

The NEXT VICTORY to come will REVIVE and CONSOLIDATE the WAR VICTORY and the astonishing RAPID NATIONAL PROGRESS under the MR/UPFA administration. That is a CERTAINTY …. if we REMAIN STEADFAST and STAY the COURSE!

THe DARKEST DAYS usually PRECEDE the BRIGHTEST!

Sirisena and Ranil are puppets of India and Indian Colonial Parasites.

They were put in their by dividing the Sinhala votes, alienating Muslim and Christian votes.

  5. NAK Says:

It is not entirely correct to say that the government has lost two thirds majority. SLPP has only 71 including the SLFP 16 who voted for the NCM. That is still four short to deny 2/3’s.

I do not think the blame can be put on Prez alone. He knew from the beginning that TNA could tilt the balance and perhaps that is the reason he told RW not to get into pacts with them and come back to him. What he can do now is to allow his men to cross over and prevent a situation where UNP has a 2/3rd majority in parliament. If that happens there is a chance where TNA dreams can become a reality for a short time.
