Farmers fast demanding fertilizer active for third day (Video)

Representatives of 41 farmers’ organizations in the Bakamuna area in Polonnaruwa have commenced a continuous fast for the third consecutive day today (26) demanding fertilizer.
Meanwhile, water was released from Maduruoya and Pimburaththewa reservoirs to the Mahaweli B zone for the Maha season this year.
However, there is strong opposition from farmers in the Mahaweli B zone regarding the release of water.
Meanwhile, 33-year-old M.M. Subasinghe, a resident of Galaha Udadelthota area has successfully started producing organic fertilizer.
Speaking to Hiru News team he stated that he is currently producing about 1000 kilograms of organic fertilizer per month and there is a good demand for it from the farmers in the area.
