Colombo, 19 September, (Asiantribune.com):

Latest reports reveals that Mr. V.Mahalingham, former Consul General of India in Jaffna paid Rs. 102 million (onehundred and two million rupees) as election fund to be paid Rs. 2 million for each of the TNA candidates who contested on the Ilankai Tamil Arasu Kadchchi ticket.

Furthermore reports revealed that Tamil Diaspora groups in the West gave a total of Rs.57 million as election fund to the TNA when it contested the Northern Provincial Council elections.
According to TNA sources who wishes to remain anonymous told Asian Tribune that the hot cash of Rs.102 million was collected by President of the Tamil National Alliance R.Sampanthan, Secretary to the Ilankai Tamil Arasu Kadchchi Mavai Senathirajaj, Suresh Premachandran leader of the Eelam People’s Revolutionary Front (EPRLF) and Selvam Adaikalanathan of Tamil Eelam Liberation Organization (TELO).

Furthermore, it was learnt the money given by the Indian Consul General was agreed and split by the constituent parties of TNA except for Anansangarees Tamil United Liberation Front and that of PLOTE led by Dharmalingham Siddharthan , according to the number of candidates each party nominated to contest on the Ilankai Tamil Arasu Kadchchi ticket.
When Asian Tribune contacted V.Anandasangaree about the money he received as election fund from the TNA, he said that he received Rs.6 lakhs only from them, at the rate of Rs.2 lakhs for him and two lakhs each to his two candidates who contested in Kilinochchi as well as in Mullaitivu.

In the meantime when Asian Tribune contacted a few TELO candidates who contested in the last Northern Provincial Council elections, one of them said that he barely received Rs.one hundred thousand, another candidate Rs.Two hundred thousand and only one candidate was given Rs.three-hundred thousand.

It was very intriguing to note that the larger portion of the money donated by Mr. V. Mahalingham as well as by the Tamil diaspora were swindled and pocketed by the leaders of the TNA.
According to an information, when Mahalingham had a personal chat with one of the elected councilors of TNA, he was told by that particular Councilor that he only received Rs.200,000 .
Asian Tribune learnt that particular candidate was not from the Ilankai Tamil Arasu Kadchchi.

The sources told Asian Tribune that candidates from the Ilankai Tamil Arasu Kadchchi were given Rs.900, 000 (nine hundred thousand) each.
The TNA leadership also collected more than Rs.35 million from local supporters in the Jaffna peninsula, as well as from those in the South of Sri Lanka.
Important question raised was how TNA was able to bring in Rs. 57 million given by the Tamil diaspora in the West especially from a section o Tamil Diaspora living in Canada, Australia, United Kingdom, Denmark, Norway, France, Germany and Switzerland?

Another question was how V.Mahalingham was able to pay Rs. One hundred and two million in hot cash?

    Maha Raj,

Who allowed a Indian HC in Jaffna in the first place ?
Who allowed a PC election to go ahead amid numerous concerns and protests of the majority ?
Who is responsible for forming this Ealaam Council ?

  2. SA Kumar Says:

Not Maha Raj done it , it is India done it include end of war with out blood in their hand blood.

  3. Susantha Wijesinghe Says:

I remember commenting about the Indian HC, the moment it was established, as a sinister motive. This is a perfect time to scrap the IHC in Jaffna. GLP gets Hyperthermia, even when he thinks about. They are so scared.

Nanda ! The answer to all three questions, is:-MR

  4. charithsls Says:

I do not think we can blame MR because his hand is twisted by manipulating Indians with various threats demanding their HCs all over the country. We know parrippu drop, not because JR liked it. It further confirms that we should never believe the Indians, all their ‘help’ is to Jaffna or to impose their culture & language through films, songs & dress on women folk.

  5. Lorenzo Says:

Endia WAS, IS and ALWAYS WILL BE one enemy #2 (enemy #1 being Tamils).

BAN TNA if it gets ANY money or support from BANNED Tamil groups.
GOSL should investigate and CLOSE DOWN the Endian HC office in Jaffna. IF foreigners can’t go to north without MOD clearance, it should apply to these clowns as well. Otherwise no point.

GOSL is doing another VERY FOOLISH thing to win votes from Tamils. Gold stolen by the LTTE from Sinhala and Muslim people in 1977 and 1990 will be distributed among Tamils in the north!! This is crooked. Don’t think it will win votes from Tamils.

  6. Lorenzo Says:

    charithsls,

But MR stood firm during war time. He REFUSED to stop the war when Endia, USA, EU, Japan, etc. DEMANDED to stop it.

He appointed a “war monger” Rathnasiri as PM instead of peacenik Mangala. He approved heavy bombing and MBRLs on terrorists against Endian demands.

It is foolish for MR to fear WAR CRIMES allegations when he didn’t fear the war itself. When Tamils and Endia sees MR will do ANYTHING to save his skin from war crimes allegations, they will demand MORE.

  7. Nanda Says:

MR was changed man soon after war, even before the war crime nonsense came up.

What is the urgency to remove both Fonseka and Wasantha ?
He had a fear of military takeover, so he installed more trustworthy Colombian man Jayasuriya. Same with Wasantha. This move may have been come form his brother, on certain intelligence, so we cannot really comment whether a good move or bad move.

Then the real madness started. Endian enemy high commissions everywhere, giving business to Endians posting DJ in UN (without inquiring and agreeing on promises). This endless madness continued for 4 years. Some good action started too late but still continuing with brainless moves.

Now he is an election mood. Don’t know what he will do. There is no consistencyin him which we expect from a great leader.
No only they have banned foreigners going to North. They must have done this 3 years ago !

  8. charithsls Says:

Yes Lorenzo he did so when the ‘world’ did not expect him to succeed, a few good factors helped him to go through the full hog. However those forces are against him now in full swing to throttle him down, he is no super hero where he can fight against giant economic forces who control this world. He cannot run the country without those Christian, muslim & tamil enemies in the govt who are waiting to take their pound of flesh at every opportunity, not that he could have done much better but there is no other obvious one to replace him if not GR. Now they talk of abolishing Exe Presidency ,who but all villains only, why JHU joined in the campaign I do not know. Corruption nepotism & economy should not be reasons to abolish it ,here the country at stake.

  9. Nanda Says:

    Charithsls,

This is a much more valuable discussion than foolishly keeping on praising MR e-con-comical development, assuming he will win. I too believe GR should be the one. He should go gracefully. But most people value his political experience, I see no point in that.

“However those forces are against him now in full swing to throttle him down” – we should not put everyone who has a valid criticism into this category.

JHU has not joined yet. Only one monk testing water. But Champika has been in rebellious mood for more than a year. But Champika is fully against UNP. People and BBS have been criticising this monk for not raising voice against so much injustice done to Sinhala people.

“He cannot run the country without those Christian, muslim & tamil enemies in the govt who are waiting to take their pound of flesh at every opportunity” – on the surface, it appears to be, but why he cannot ?

His primary vote base is Sinhala Buddhist vote from down south and rural areas. He gave away free cinnamon plants people and those rich land owners collected the plants and exploit the poor. basically he did very little to is voter base. This is surprising.

If JHU sign a pact with UNP ( in a credible manner) and support UNP, MR will definitely loose. We must put efforts to prevent this rather than shouting Jayaweva, Jayaweva, Jayaweva like fools.

  10. Nanda Says:

    Andy Ayya,
Maha Raj is the writer, my Demala brother who is sniffing for a pound of flesh .

  11. Lorenzo Says:

    charithsls,

    Agree with everything except this.

“He cannot run the country without those Christian, muslim & tamil enemies in the govt who are waiting to take their pound of flesh at every opportunity”

HE CAN. HE OPTS NOT TO.

Like a dog biting a bone, MR is obsessed with Tamils and Muslims but there is NO MEAT in serving them. An ILLUSION.

MR need not fight against world economic powers. USA needs SL as much as SL needs USA. Otherwise CHINA will grab SL exports to USA which is against US interests. Now the REAL economic superpower is CHINA.

  12. Ratanapala Says:

Soon after the war MR was encircled by the Catholic Church through his wife and her Catholic family. Now he is only thinking about getting a first class ticket before going through the “Pearly Gates”. Traitorous Catholic Church will be his undoing! He has forgotten his voter base – Sinhala Buddhists schooled by the Ven Soma, Most Ven Madihe Pannaseeha and Anagarika Dharmapala. He has abandoned them to his detriment!

The fiasco in New York recently involving Sajin, Nonis, Malcolm Ranjith and Vatican shows how things work in reality. MR should be intelligent enough to know who takes order from whom!

  13. SA Kumar Says:

Maha Raj is the writer, – sorry I thought you mean MR.

  14. Vis8 Says:

Take any Indian politician, and you will find enough robbery to put them behind bars for ever. Jayalalitha, thankfully, was set-up to dilute the influence on the Lok Sabha. True, MR needs to wake up to the international turmoil against SL, thanks to the refugee diaspora.

  15. Sooriarachi Says:

This is typical of our neighbour, ruled by untrustworthy Indian regimes. It is India that prevented Sri Lanka from joining the ASIAN when invited by the ASIAN nations at the time it was formed. It is they who created the Tamil Terrorists to destabilise Sri Lanka. It is they who did the unthinkable by supporting hostile forces at the UNHCR, when all other South Asian nations, supported Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka has no option but to depend on consistent friends like China, Japan and Pakistan.

India’s BJP set to rule Maharashtra and Haryana

    October 19, 2014

India’s BJP is set to form governments in Maharashtra and Haryana, after the party won the elections in both states.

Last week’s elections were PM Narendra Modi’s first major test of popularity five months after he led his BJP to a landslide general election win.

The BJP won a majority in Haryana and took most seats in Maharashtra, home to India’s financial capital of Mumbai.

In September, the BJP suffered a setback in a string of by-elections.

However, unlike September, Mr Modi campaigned personally this time, seeking votes for his party in the two states.

The BJP won 122 of the 288 seats in Maharashtra, stopping 23 seats of a majority.

The regional right-wing Shiv Sena party, a former BJP ally, came second there with 63 seats.

Reports say the BJP is likely to form the government with support from either the Shiv Sena or the regional Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), which won 41 seats.

The BJP won 47 of the 90 seats in Haryana, putting the party in a position to rule the northern state for the first time.

Both states were previously ruled by the Congress party, which lost the general elections in May.

“The results have proved that, like a tsunami, the Modi-wave is demolishing all opposition,” BJP leader Amit Shah told reporters on Sunday after the results were announced.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi congratulated the BJP, saying that the “people had voted for change, after 15 years of our government in Maharashtra and 10 years in Haryana”.

Correspondents say the results proved that Mr Modi – who spoke at nearly 40 meetings in the two states ahead of the elections – remains popular with the voters.
