හින්දු ඉන්දියාව විසින් හිමාල අඩවියෙන් සොයා සපයන ලද”” ‘ බෞද්ධ දේශ භංග ””’ ශාඛයේ පස්පංගුව වනේ දමා කොටා එංගලන්ත සභාවේ ආශීර්වාදය ලැබූ ශුද්ධවූ ජලයෙන් වසර තිහක් තිස්සේ කකාරා ජීවන්කර ”’සර්වභේද වාදී කල්කය ”’ ද මුසු කර නිපදවූ ”’ ද්වේශාරිෂ්ටය ”” චන්ද්‍රිකා තාක්ෂනය උපයෝගී කරගෙන රහසේ සිංහල දේශය වෙත කන්ටේනර් පිටින් නොමිලේ ලබාදී ඇති අතර චෞර රැජිණිය විසින් ගව්රව සම්ප්‍රයුක්තව හිස මත තබා ගෙන ගොස් රායප්පු ජෝසෆ් ගේ අශීර්වාදයද ඇතිව පළමුවෙන්ම ඉන් බිඳක් මයිත්රියට මුසුකර දෙවනුව විචිත්‍ර ධර්ම කතික ” සෝභන ” ‘ හා විප්ලව රතන හා මුදුරුවරුන්ටද පොවා දැන් රට පුරා බවුසර් මගින් බෙදමින් සිටින්නීය.

මිසිස්‌ ප්‍රභාකරන්!
යාපනයේදී කළ කතාවකදී මිස්‌ටර් ප්‍රභාකරන් යෑයි සඳහනක්‌ කිරීමෙන් චන්ද්‍රිකා කුමාරතුංග නැවත වතාවක්‌ ජනතාවගේ වෛරයට පාත්‍රව තිබේ. මෙතුමිය කට ඇරියොත් ඡන්ද විසිතිස්‌දහසක්‌ මකර කටෙහිය. කෙසේ වුවද ප්‍රභාකරන් මිනීමරුවාට ‘මිස්‌ටර්’ කීම නිසා අනවශ්‍ය අශූචි බාල්දියක්‌ තම හිසට පෙරළී ඇති බවත් එය ගංගාවක්‌ සේ මෛත්‍රී දෙසට ගලාගෙන යන බවත් දුටු චන්ද්‍රිකා වරද නිවරද කරනු පිණිස කියා සිටියේ තමා ප්‍රභාකරන්ට සමච්චල් කරනු පිණිස ‘මිස්‌ටර්’ යන පදය යෙදූ බවය. මෙය ඇගේ ඊළඟ ගොං කතාව ය. යාපනේ සිටින්නෝ බබ්බු නොවෙති. ඔවුන් ඉදිරිපිටට ගොස් ප්‍රභාකරන්ට සමච්චල් කළ විට ඇයට ආපසු කොළඹ දුවන්නට සිදුවන්නේ මෙයට අවුරුදු කිහිපයකට පෙර එස්‌. බී. කියූ ආකාරයට ය.

Former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga has been asked to keep away from the New Democratic Front Presidential candidate Maithripala Sirisena’s campaign after her controversial statement, pampering the late LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran, severely affected the joint Opposition’s campaign.
Chandrika called the megalomaniac Tiger leader as Mr. Prabhakaran and apoligised to the Tamils in the North for what had happed during her tenure. While calling Prabhakaran a gentleman, Chandrika promised to withdraw more than 50 percent of the Security Forces now in the peninsula if they elect Maithripala as the President.
She also promised to “restore the land of Tamils,” with the hope of winning the Tamil vote in the North and the East. Perhaps, she would have been successful in that to a greater extent, going by the huge applause and cheering she got from the LTTE sympathisers at the venue, but at a price!

She like her father feeding Sinhalese Sinhala and Tamils English. (She addressed Siriseana’s Jaffna rally in English). English is not for the Sinhala or the non-Indian masses in the island.

There are only three more days to go for the presidential election and the indefatigable propagandists of the government and the Opposition are fighting the final battle with guns blazing. Former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga (CBK), who is leading the Opposition campaign from the front, has drawn a great deal of fire for calling the dead LTTE leader ‘Mr. Prabhakaran’ recently in Jaffna.
Defending the use of the title at issue to refer to Prabhakaran, CBK has, at a media briefing the other day, faulted Government Spokesman and Media Minister Keheliya Rambukwella for what she called his failure to understand the subtle nuances of expressions in the English language. Whether Rambukwella is proficient in English or not, we do not know, but as for CBK’s speeches, we can say, with apologies to Abraham Lincoln, that she is quite adept at compressing the most words into the smallest idea on any subject!
It was obvious that CBK’s respectful reference to Prabhakaran was calculated to impress her Jaffna audience with some pro-LTTE sympathisers therein. She succeeded in her endeavour as could be seen from the rapturous applause she received. There was a dramatic pause for the crowd to quieten and then she resumed her address, visibly satisfied that her reference at issue had had the desired impact. There was neither sarcasm nor impishness in her tone which, meticulously measured for effect, instead, had a hint of regret that Prabhakaran had rejected out of hand an olive branch she held out way back in mid 1990s. She stopped short of mentioning that she had once offered him the entire Northern Province for a period of ten years without elections.

Mr. Austin Fernando, the secretary defense in the then UNF govt led by Thoppigala Ranil (and Chandrika Perumal as the president) addressed Pulidhevan, “Machan Puli” and also visted him with a bag of expensive apples when Pulidhevan was sick and hospitalised in Colombo.
