Twenty seven Cabinet ministers in total were sworn in before the President at the Presidential Secretariat. After  swearing-in of the Cabinet Ministers, State Ministers, President MaithripalaSirisena said it would be an interim-cabinet and that General Elections would be held after the completion of the 100-day programme. This is only a temporary Cabinet appointed to ensure the successful completion of the 100-day programme. Thereafter we will go for General Election which should be kept in mind when serving the people to the best of their ability. I want all ministers to work efficiently and be always mindful that we will not tolerate any form of corruption or unethical behavior,” he said.

Sri Lanka’s next finance minister, Ravi Karunanayake will need to sustain one of the world’s highest economic growth rates while curbing the influence of China, the island’s biggest investor under Rajapaksa’s rule, according to Bimanee Meepagala of NDB Wealth Management.  Sirisena’s backers, including free-market capitalists, hard-line Buddhist parties and the island’s main Tamil and Muslim groupings, may prompt changes in fiscal and economic policies that could erode Sri Lanka’s credit standing, Standard & Poor’s said last week.

Lawyers urge CJ to resign

Several lawyers and civil society organisations are protesting outside the Supreme Court urging Chief Justice Mohan Peiris to resign.

Rejecting reports that he had fled the country, former arms chief procurer of the LTTE Selvaraja Pathmanathan alias KP said that he did not intend to leave the country.

    Political coup is continuing.

Some more idiots from the government have joined My3 camp.

Separatists and federalists are on My 3 side.

Federalists are on both sides now.

Pro-federalist Sriyani ex-CJ will be back as the Chief Justice.

All rattle snakes and double tongue traitors crossing over from one side to another side. This is Sri Lankan politics which I cannot understand how they deceive the public like this. The fault lies on the citizens of Sri Lanka for electing such low grade, uneducated politicians to represent the public. For God’s sake reject all the double crosses and the drug Lords,Corrupt politicians from coming to power in the next General election then only we the people of this country can live in peace. These politicians take us for granted and become rich and rich day by day by selling our country.

This new clan came to power by promising YAHAPALANAYA but I cannot see any Yahapalanaya at all. Bad guys join good guys and good guys join bad guys and both parties play with the innocent lives of ours. We will never get Yahapalanaya in MY3’s Govt. It’s a joke that they will do a better job than previous because 90% bad guys are with him now so what can you expect from these traitors? Instead of Yahapalanaya they start taking revenge and appoint the guilty bad ones again to high posts. Atleast MR kept all forces together and we had peace in the country but hereafter I don’t think we will have any peace at all with this ugly bunch. Save my land oh Lord.

  3. SA Kumar Says:

Save my land oh Lord- TNA have meeting with Hon MS today (please give them any minister post or deputy or at least pion job in central Govt ).

  4. Vimutti Says:

    >>>Several lawyers and civil society organisations are protesting outside the Supreme Court urging Chief Justice Mohan Peiris to resign.<<<

If I were CJ Peiris I would tell Ranil and Chandrika to IMPEACH ME and then show them how little power a 51% presidential vote with new anti-Buddhist Tamil voters really means. At a minimum, it means Maithripala has ZERO chance of impeaching anyone which requires a TWO THIRDS majority in Parliament, and it is still debatable whether he can get even a simple majority in Parliament.

And without control of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Ranil and Chandrika's plan to divide the country and hand over control of Sri Lanka to the Americans and Europeans will ultimately fail.

  5. Christie Says:

Chandrika’s bottomless hand bag filled by Indian imperialists and their suckers.

  6. SA Kumar Says:

If I were CJ Peiris I would tell Ranil and Chandrika to IMPEACH ME- MS can not sack him ?

  7. Vimutti Says:

    >>>SA Kumar Says:
    January 12th, 2015 at 5:58 am<<<

No, he can't sack him….if it were that easy the former Chief Justice would have just been sacked by Mahinda.

  8. Vimutti Says:

The bottom line, is Mahinda is probably MORE powerful than Ranil and Maithripala with control of Parliament and the Judiciary. If Ranil and Maithripala don’t recognize and RESPECT this reality, they are in for a very rough ride that is not going to end well for either of them.

  9. Nimal Says:

Truly shameful, business as usual. We need another 1815.
What the hell are the thieving lawyers protesting about? They rob the people in courts, with the equally thieving judges postpone the cases endlessly, going back decades in our ammage darmaddepya.
They will never sort the nagging problems of the country. It will still be unaccountable to people and law less.

  10. Vimutti Says:

All Mahinda has to do is execute a successful ‘no confidence’ vote on Ranil on January 19th, and force Maithripala to dissolve Parliament and call new elections. Then Mahinda should work tirelessly like he should have during the presidential election to make sure his Parliament majority stays in tact and that he becomes Prime Minister.

Then as Prime Minister I would dare Maithripala to make good on his promises to weaken the president and give even more power to Parliament and the Judiciary, and when he refuses to make good on his promises to the Sri Lanka people, have him arrested for obstruction of justice in his son’s aggravated assault case and corruption in the single bidder Thailand saline contractor case when he was health minister and throw his punk ass in prison. Then call new Presidential elections so we have a chance to unite the Buddhist vote this time around. And make sure on the second election that Ranil has a chance to contest so the whole world sees that a united Buddhist vote and united Tamil and Muslim vote adds up to a Mahinda victory, not a Ranil victory.

  11. SA Kumar Says:

No, he can’t sack him- So our first elected President t JRJ was wrong , he said he can do anything except change man to woman .
So our New king Hon MS ruling will end 10 days not 100 days ! ok 10 only lost a zero.

  12. NeelaMahaYoda Says:

    SA Kumar
I can not see any TNA names in the cabinet. At least you will get one or two on your bedside cabinet.

  13. NeelaMahaYoda Says:

It is really disappointing for Dr. Sarath Amunugama, Reginald Cooray, Vijith Vijithamuni Soysa, Jagath Pushpakumara, S.B. Navinna, Nilwala Wijesinghe, Piyasena Gamage, Athavuda Seneviratne Janaka Bandara Tennakoon, those who abandoned the ship yesterday. They did not get any ministerial post and they are now left in the cold and will not be able to get nomination from UPFA in the General Elections in May

  14. Marco Says:

    Vimutti
I cannot wait for the 19th for your plan to work.
Has Mahinda got the support from his parliamentary collogues to carry out a no confidence motion. Incidentally MR is not a member of parliament yet. He has to find a National List MP to resign to take his place.
In the event of a dissolution of parliament 54 UPFA members lose their Pension Rights.
MR has already complained that he has no manpower or trust worthy members as more and more are leaving him.
Who would have thought Sajin Vass (baggage man) would leave his side. RW is shrewd accepted Sajin Vass support but no preferential treatment or any post of any kind.

If a parliamentary election is held now UPFA is unlikely to have more than 100 members elected or even less with the loss of National List.
Maithri has promised a Parliamentary election by April. Here’s a chance for MR to get his act together and get back his lost kingdom

  15. Marco Says:

Last night i went out to dine with 5 friends at a popular Restaurant. Being Sunday night it was reasonably crowded.
The topic of conversation turned to politics and as usual in the past when it came to politics we conversed in hush tones. It suddenly dawned on us why are we speaking in hush tones. Freedom at last. We can speak in our normal tones and not look over are shoulders without any fear of who was listening. Relief at last.
Behold, the table next (which included a well known Journalist) to us also joined in with our conversation in light hearted banter. The topic was not confined to the Rajapakse Regime but also included light hearted satire of Maithripala and others from the New Govt.
It was certainly a eerie relief that after nearly 10 years one could openly talk politics.

  16. Nanda Says:

“It was certainly a eerie relief that after nearly 10 years one could openly talk politics _ MicRob
I fully agree. Even on this Lankaweb we can feel it..”

I think it is similar to the feeling you got after President DB Wijetunge came to power.

This proves “Yahapalanaya” in full action.

I suggest the heart broken MR camp friends should not look at the names against portfolios. As long as “Yahapalanaya” in full action, names does not matter. Give them a chance , please. All human beings make mistakes.

  17. Nanda Says:

    NMY,
Please don’t feel bad when people cross over. Think ahead friend, some of those could be MR’s agents (Charapurusha) planted for information. Just imagine Sajin Vass !

  18. Lorenzo Says:

Thank god NO TNA terrorists in it!

ONLY ONE SL Tamil. That also a DEPUTY MINISTER.

So where is Jaffna, Vanni Batticaloa, Trinco? Are they SO important to the new govt.? No. Very clever.

  19. Lorenzo Says:

    Where is the SPORTS MINISTER?

  20. NeelaMahaYoda Says:

I just noticed a news report in which Maduluwawe Sobitha has asked UPFA MPs to support 100 day programme and then they can go for a general elections in two years. So Practically 100 day programme becomes a two year programme now.

Now they are trying to change the goal post. The 100 Day Programme clearly says parliament will be dissolved in April.
    http://www.lankaweb.com/news/items/2015/01/10/president-maithripala-sirisenas-100-day-work-programme/
    April 2015
    Monday April 20
A Parliamentary system will be put in place instead of the Executive Presidential system.
    Thursday April 23
Parliament will be dissolved and free and fair elections held under a caretaker government.

Following that election, the Prime Minister will be appointed from the party getting the highest number of seats at such election, with a Deputy Prime Minister from the party getting the next highest number.

A National Government of all parties represented in Parliament will be established to govern for a period of at least two years.
Either Maduluwawe Sobitha has not read the programme or trying to cheat us

  21. Lorenzo Says:

    Well said Nanda.

    Sour grapes!

    I miss these ministers.

    1. minister of PR – Mervin
    2. monitoring minister of foreign affairs – Sajin Vaas
    3. Hack-him
    4. Thonda
    5. Douglas
    6. Karuna

  22. NeelaMahaYoda Says:

    Lorenzo
    Where is the SPORTS MINISTER?

Sports ministry is reserved for Sambandan.

ONLY ONE SL Tamil. That also a DEPUTY MINISTER.?
D.M. Swaminathan Resettlement, Reconstruction and Hindu Religious Affairs Minister is a UNP MP from Colombo

  23. Lorenzo Says:

    NMY,

Let them blunder. The MORE blunders, the better for MR, isn’t it?

IF the next parliamentary election is free and fair, then MR has a HUGE CHANCE. That means NO state resources will be wasted for the election.

The crossovers are without ministries! Let them REALIZE and let the others realize.

But if they get it RIGHT, that is GOOD for the country. So now we have a BETTER SET UP. My3 in government and Mahinda in the ALTERNATIVE. BOTH PATRIOTS.

Not like when Run-nil was the alternative.

  24. Lorenzo Says:

    NMY,

Thanks. But he is TOO DISTANT from Tamils in the north and east were 70% of SL Tamils live.

  25. NeelaMahaYoda Says:

    Lorenzo
    Hack-him also there -රවුෆ් හකීම් – නාගරික සංවර්ධන, ජලසම්පාදන හා ජලාපවාහනRauf Hakeem – Urban Development, Water Supply and Drainage

But he is given the Ministry of Cesspit cleaning and Drainage, what an appropriate position.

  26. NeelaMahaYoda Says:

    Lorenzo

MR is still arrogant and has not opened his eyes. He does not understand the meaning of words “Corruption and Nepotism” yet. .
He needs a complete rehabilitation for which 100 days may not be enough.

  27. Lorenzo Says:

I was looking at another list circulating! That’s right Hack-him is the cesspit minister!

Looks like JHU has done a good job.

Yes. MR is too stubborn. He has to come down from his tree and get his hand dirty. Like he used to be before 2005. People LOVED that MR.

BR fooled him and left him high and dry with billions. His sons also stuffed him up with dirty behavior all over the internet which is UNACCEPTABLE to MOST MR voters. ONLY GR and CR are of worth.

  28. Nanda Says:

    NMY,
He needs a complete rehabilitation for which 100 days may not be enough.- I fully agree. May not even be possible for someone in self denial.

GR too should be investigated and in fact MUSTBE INVITED TO JOIN the government as he is a great patriot if he did not steal the country by inflating military hardware prices by 3 times ( Fonseka’s claim).

  29. Nanda Says:

    Lorenzo,
Is your LTTE friend Karu Jayasooriya a good Buddhist ?

  30. stanley perera Says:

Elephant in tie and coat has changed his attire. This rogue and his mother stole the entire wealth of Lalith Ethulath Mudali. This chap is a criminal and there is a case pending in court over foreign exchange racket. He is not suitable to be the finance minister. The other fellow is Navin Dissanayake. This chappie is a boy inexperienced. One good thing is the corrupt professor is not in. Amunugama is the most suitable person.

  31. NeelaMahaYoda Says:

I think Sirisena has hand picked Ravi Karunanayake because of his wheeler-dealer back ground. By profession he is a chartered Accountant. They need a good accountant to prepare the balance sheet for the enormous amount of money spend on the relief package.

  32. douglas Says:

The real test of “Strength” of the present Government and its continuation with the “100 Day” programme will be put to test on on Tuesday January 20th and 21st. On January 20th: “The Standing Orders will be amended and in terms of Proposal 67/10 now tabled in Parliament. Then on Wednesday January 21 the process will begin of abolishing the authoritarian executive presidential system and replacing it with an executive of a Cabinet Ministers responsible to Parliament and of repealing the 18th Amendment of the Constitution with legislation to establish strengthened and independent institutions, including a Judicial Service Commission, a Police Commission, a Public Service Commission, an Election Commission, a Commission against Bribery and Corruption and a Human Rights Commission. This will be through a 19th Amendment to the Constitution, which will be presented to Parliament and passed as swiftly as possible”.

All of the above, I am of opinion, need 2/3rd majority of the sitting members of Parliament. That will TEST the real STRENGTH of the “Present vs the ex President.” If that “19th Amendment” proposed cannot be passed with the required 2/3rd majority, I am certain, the present President has no option but the “Dissolution” of Parliament. In that event the “Ex President’s” influence and his strength would be established. If on the other hand the “pendulum” swings toward the Present President and “STOPS” there, it is certain to see the “100 DAY” Programme will go forward. But the next “Drama” to be watched will be, when and if the “19th Amendment” is passed and referred to Supreme Courts, what would be the outcome with the sitting CJ in the “High Chair”. Will it be “Referred” to the Supreme Courts? OR with legal opinion available to the Government, it will be passed in Parliament. That is, again in my opinion a “Great Possibility”.

So this is a very interesting “Drama” and I think all of us must discuss these aspects openly so that arguments for and against would come out and it could be a pleasant experience for all of us.

  33. Nanda Says:

    Douglas,
Are you sure they need 2/3 majority ? Or is it simple majority ?

All appointed MP’s can be replace, if required ?

  34. Lorenzo Says:

    Nanda,

“Is your LTTE friend Karu Jayasooriya a good Buddhist ?”

NO WAY! The 2nd MOST corrupt person according to COPE 2007 report. PLEASE everyone read this report. A tiger CANNOT change its stripes.

That is why he was given the BUDDHA SASANA ministry! But he will even rob that.

Hack-him must be bloody unhappy with the cesspit ministry. Arjuna has a GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY to FIX the port which is the MOST CORRUPT place in the country. Thonda will have to be given a ministry.

  35. Nanda Says:

    Lorenzo,
I think Arjuna is temporary until SF comes to take it up.

Sanga to come back after World Cup ??

  37. douglas Says:

Nanda: Thank you. This is the type of discussion I am prompting. To answer your question:-

The Chapter XII – The Legislature – Amendment of the Constitution – Section 82 (5) states: ” A Bill for the amendment of any provision of the Constitution or for the repeal and replacement of the Constitution, shall become law if the number of votes cast in favour thereof amounts to not less that two-thirds of the whole number of Members (including those not present) and upon certification of the President or the Speaker, as the case may be, being endorsed thereon in accordance with the provisions of Article 80 or 79″ ( Article 79 refers to Certification by the Speaker and 80 refers to when Bill becomes law).

I know there are a large number of legal professionals who specialize on “Constitutional Law” out there, and I am appealing them to join this forum and guide us through this. Thank you.

It is good Saith Premadasa got in atlas. But Karuwala Jayasuriya will sell Asgiriya and Malwatta both. He is such a corrupt bugger. That elephant in tie and coat must be exterminated immediately. In two minutes the bugger will sell his grandmother’s diyaredda. The other thing is what the hell that CBK woman doing in the middle of MS and RW. That rouge woman must be trying to sell Air Lanka again. And where the hell that dirty Harry? The king of names dropping. That oil king Anura Yapa bugger must be hiding in Singapore. There is a rumour that Anura Yapa fellow went to Singapore in a submarine.

  40. stanley perera Says:

That Matara Tayloraya of women’s underwear is the luckiest of all. The slimy bugger crept in with the help of that CBK woman. That fellow will conduct press conferences and answer in English language to show he is fluent in english. Although Bogollagama and Hora Peera are highway robbers their english cannot be matched by Big eyes the tayloraya. Where are his bedmates the boys? but the bugger cannot beat Michael Jackson.

  41. Nanda Says:

    Stanley Ayya,
    Ha Ha.
How come you borrowed my words ?

I know all others but I want to know who is “dirty harry” for my low level enjoyment.

  42. stanley perera Says:

    Nanda,
Dirty Harry is the thief who bought CWE for a song. Dirty Harry is the bugger who was a tea taster with the State Trading Corporation. He left STC stealing all the contacts Who imported ceylon tea and started tea exports to those countries. Dirty Harry is the cub boy of RW and Anura B. He was looking for a 16 year old girl to get married. When CBK woman was the President, Dirty Harry goes to meet the Bank Manager. During the meeting as arranged his wife rings his mobile. Dirty harry then answers the phone and say “ah Chandrika, I am with the Bank manger to get a bank loan”. Bank manager then approves the massive bank loan without asking any questions. Such a pig he is.

  43. Nanda Says:

I know the bugger but is he a politician ? I didn’t know.

  44. stanley perera Says:

Dirty harry is not a politician. But he gets the best of the both parties. Dirty harry played the same game after MR came into power. This time it backfired and the bank manager rang MR and inquired if he rang dirty harry while he was at a meeting with him regarding a loan. MR was furious and blasted Harry J off and made a press release that MR never rang Harry J. Somehow or the other later dirty harry got round to MR. Whichever party came in to power this pig was better off. This fellow is worse than a politician. Him and Haylees Perera are both in the same boat.
I know another unsuitable pig to be a state minister now. He is Rambukkana Champika mudalali known as Champika Premadasa who was a beedi mudalaly. Champika beedi was very popular those days. This fellow has no education as such. But became a successful business man at Rambukkana. In this manner Sirisena government is not going to last long.

  45. Lorenzo Says:

    Dear My3,

We worked our backs off trying to make you president. DON’T take KARUNA, SAJIN and the like.

IF you take them there is NO DIFFERENCE between Mahinda palanaya and My3 palanaya.

Why SF still NOT reinstated his eanrings, titles and medals? Why?

I see NO DIFFERENCE is dirty tactics in state media.

Are you trying to take us for fools? Please ACT as you promised. Otherwise the Madamulana Rajah will come back with his entire dynasty!

    Lorenzo,
We must get together and demand Karunanayake and Beedi mudalali Champika Premadasa be removed from their positions immediately. Karunanayagam is a thief and bead modally is an uneducated guy. These two fellows are not suitable to be even toilet cleaners.

  47. Nanda Says:

Why not appoint Bedi Mudalali as Health Minister ? Dirty Harry as Governor of Central Bank?

  48. Nanda Says:

Karuna and Sajin must be remanded now and new people appointed. I don’t have a problem with state media because there is no election now, but all the Pal Horus should not be allowed to escape to Do-bai , Mole-dives and Singa-poo even if Ruinill promised to MR.

  49. SA Kumar Says:

So where is Jaffna, Vanni Batticaloa, Trinco? Are they SO important to the new govt.? No. Very clever.
OR They are not in SL teritory ? (in TE )
not clever move at all Big brother summon to MS next month !!!

We mother lankan did not learn any thing for last 2,500 years !

let me go back to my day dream, Naalai pirrakkum TE.

  50. Nanda Says:

    Andy,
You already have 4 buggers. P. Digambaram , D.M. Swaminathan , K. Welayuthan P. Radakrishnan , all from your Nadu.
Then you have 4 more buggers who ispeak Tamil, altogether 8 , ispeak Tamil. Exactly 18% . So , proportional to different races. Why cry ஏன் அழுகிறாய் ?

  51. stanley perera Says:

By the looks of it bedimudalali or Gabbala Bidda might become the next president. I bet dirty harry will beat Cabraal the day he becomes the governor of the central bank. Gabbala Bidda and dirty harry will be a good match to maru sira. Maru Sira does not seem to be a saint. That bloody gramaya’s son seem to be beating Co-op manager’s son malakaya. All the politicians are crooks in some form. But RW is not a thief.

  52. Independent Says:

    Stanley,
You seems to be very well informed even though you live in Melbourne.
I agree politicians cannot be trusted, that is why should not treat any one as God, unless you are damn foolish.

But if “Maru(=Excellent) Sira” can set up proper code of conduct and monitoring system and if he could start some form of punishment, it is at least a good start.

    Lorenzo,
Don’t be disappointed. Give him some time. I heard Sajin Vass was rejected by

Independent, although I live in Melbourne for 39 good years, I have not lost my interest back at home. I still love my kos, del, maiyooka and pol sambol. The next bugger I want dob is Anura Priyadharshana Yapa. I need to get in touch with cj shirani bandaranayake to provide her with very valuble information. That will make the whole impeachment process a bloody joke. I bumped into her and the husband at the Nugegoda aprico but I thought it was not proper to talk to her in public. It was about three months ago. I also bumped into sarath silva the womaniser at the same time at the Bavarian Restaurant at Kolpity. The fellow hates my guts.

  54. SA Kumar Says:

    Nanda
these 4 estate Tamils & 8 more Muslim &others (UNP) not (100%) representing Jaffna, Vanni Batticaloa, Trinco (TE) .
Why cry ஏன் அழுகிறாய் ? because we do not want Eelam war V soon.
( Mulli vaikal -Adi Thagnkamudila ?)
