´´Bad omen´´ for President Sirisena

On 18 th Wednesday President Sirisena on his way back from India went to the Tirumal Temple to attend the 3 am Darshan at the sanctorum of Lord Venkatesvaran. The priests were aware of the VVIP´s visit and the first daily pre-dawn ritual performed to ´wake up´ Lord Venkatesvaran was to President Sirisena . When the golden door to the sanctorum of the Lord was opened the lock got stuck and the key broke. This is the first time in the history of this richest Temple in India that something like this had happened and the priests were alarmed. They had used a saw to open the lock. There were no dramas but many who were there at the time and those who heard about this incident claimed that it was a ´bad omen´. May be because they thought that Lord Venkatesvaran was hesitant to offer his ´blessings´ to President Sirisena !
In contrast to this, 18th Wednesday was a successful day to former President Rajapakse. Because looking at the crowd which attended the meeting at Nugegoda it was a great success. Prior to the meeting, according to pro-govt forces not more than 500 would attend. But the videos which showed the crowd and the dignitaries at the meeting would have given a shock to them. So this is a threat to Ranil and a shock to President Sirisena as the Nugegoda meeting was a huge success to the pro-Rajapakse group. This would also be a big surprise for the western forces which helped to topple Rajapakse.

Newly appointed National Organiser of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party Susil Premajayantha yesterday said former President Mahinda Rajapaksa had not yet made known whether he would contest a parliamentary election again though several UPFA constituents at a public rally in Nugegoda on Wednesday evening demanded that Rajapaksa be nominated the prime ministerial candidate of the alliance.
“It is too early to nominate the Prime Ministerial Candidate, but they would always be ready to consider the opinions of the constituent parties,” he said.
Commenting on the rally held under the theme ‘Make Mahinda PM’ jointly organised by the MEP, DLF, NFF and Pivithuru Hela Urumaya, Premajayantha said it had been a successful rally.
Premjayantha said the Nugegoda rally had jolted the UNP and not the SLFP.
Answering a query, Premajayantha said that the SLFP had not tried to prevent any of its MPs, Chief Ministers, Provincial Councillors or Local Government members from participating at the Nugegoda rally and there were no pos action against the participants.
The former Minister said that he would go from electorate to electorate to organise the SLFP grassroots level organisations and strengthen the ties among constituents of the alliance in his capacity as UPFA General Secretary.
“We will produce our own Prime Minister as already President Maithripala Sirisena is the leader of the SLFP,” Premjayantha said, adding that their party was the only strong party that had two former Presidents and two former Prime Ministers as party patrons while the incumbent President was leading it.
Opposition Leader Nimal Siripala de Silva said that 12 committees had already been appointed to the party’s general election campaign and party leader Maithripala Sirisena would meet electoral organisers shortly.

Great article. Going to save it:
One thing I quote: “This would also be a big surprise for the western forces which helped to topple Rajapakse.”
The article starts out with an issue of a bad omen at the Tirupathi temple when Siirsena visited India and then visited Andhra Pradesh, a Dravidian State. So that Dravidian Temple had a ‘tantrum” accepting him in. the article goes on to point to the ongoing fame Rajapakse enjoys among the Sinhalese electorate (I doubt if there was a large Tamil, Indian or American contingency in that group of admirers)
in that context it is India whose hand must be questioned more than even the West. India supported the Tamil Tigers over 30 years (beginning even before 1983 in training them). It was India that continued the process of persecuting Colombo after she lost the proxy war by 3 UNHRC sponsored biased human rights charges that only were directed on the Sri Lankan army, Rajapakse and only at the end of that war while avoiding everything else
It was an Indian spy from RAW that was kicked out just before these elections.
India will play a greater role in Sri Lanka than any other power. New Delhi WILL NOT allow any other power to get into her “sphere of Control” or Sri Lanka. I wanted to point that out.
