NEW IGP PUJITHA JAYASUNDERA-A GREAT LEADER OR A SCAPEGOAT?- WILL PJ FORM A POLICE STATE AND SUPRESS MEDIA FREEDOM WITH USA BACKING?

The newly appointed Inspector General of Police Mr Pujitha Jayasundera must receive the greatest accolade now that he holds the sword to bring back the glory of Police force in Sri Lanka.
PJ has gone through the Mill. He is well known as a robust speaker and a honest, hardworking, illustrious, devoted fighter with plenty of vigour.
Thus far PJ’s name is unblemished. His skills of public speaking is an asset, once again clearly demonstrated during the first media conference. However sadly , some of the words he used in his Sinhala speech, I could not understand. “අකර්මනය තැන් පරති විහියුගතනය කිරීම” I said at once to my wife, “දෙයියෝ සාක්කි”.
However, his Sinhala vocabulary during the media conference gave the impression that PJ might turn Sri Lankan Police Force to the standards of Icelandic Police, to be on top of the world.
PJ did send some strong messages to the media during his media conference, as reported by Derana News on 22 April 2016. There is no doubt that the entire media personalities were shell shocked by his comments. He said, in future there will be no comments from the Police Officers to the media on pending cases. He went on merrily to stamp his authority that in future the media spokesperson will outline the outcome of pending cases.
Has PJ frightened the Press? Has he bulldozed the Press? Will he excavate the graves to bury the media freedom of Sri Lanka?
Did Ranil, Chandrika and Maithree get the right man to harm their political enemies? Or did Ranil, Chandrika and Maithree get the wrong man ( just like President Mahinda Rajapakse appointing Sarath Fonseka as Army Commander) with a sword and a boomerang?

I am afraid -he is still a new broom, wait until the new broom gets dirtied after a little use……will he catch the digger of the walk way said to have been the act of a Minister ? Or will he incarcerate the Rajapakse family one and all ? That is why he had been appointed I suppose……Sirisena was telling a big lie to paint the former President a small time criminal. Only thing is people are fed up with Sirisena and Yahapalanaya they now know+ when he tells a lie. He said when he was still with the former President, he wanted to sack a PC Chairman for a crime he had committed and the President said, no, he is the only man we have to get a stone thrown !!

He is not big enough to “incarcerate the Rajapakse family one and all ” but probably the right man to pursue Thajudeen murder case properly. He was appointed simply because the acting IGP is too close to MR.
Nevertheless if he can put the Lankawe Policiya in the correct path it will be a great “change”.

When he was the DIG in Kandy, did a good job but the way he was selected by a politician is unacceptable then why do you expect in Sri Lanka?He should have been appointed on his merit and seniority. Let’s hope that he will do as honest good job fitting to a good police officer. He could take the standards of the police in UK,where my son is employed, honourable to the hilt. Ask the British government take some our officers to be trained there in UK.
