I feel US president-elect Donald Trump will lead his country in new foreign policy that will respect sovereignty of nations, unlike previous administrations, former President Mahinda Rajapaksa says.
He made the observation while responding to a question during a Twitter Q&A on Wednesday.

Mahinda Rajapaksa: Family members whom you imply were all democratically elected, except @GotabayaR whose contribution to this country is well known.
Amantha: Sources with knowledge of meeting say Chinese ambassador displeased with some of your reported anti-China comments?
Mahinda Rajapaksa: No. The Ambassador also had concerns about the way the project is now being implemented.
Shihar Aneez: Did you give an assurance to China that you will not oppose the Chinese projects during your last official visit?
Mahinda Rajapaksa: We’re not against obtaining Chinese support for development work as long as the #SriLanka people’s interests are protected.

Hoping won’t do we must actively find means to get the ears of the Trump Administration to understand the injustice done to a nation that vanquished the world’s deadliest terrorist force the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam ( LTTE) or Tamil Tigers. We have to highlight that it was Hillary Clinton who received Tiger Funds for 2008 Presidential bid and later Barack Obama who was responsible for denigrating Sri Lanka on unjustly of war crimes.
Just as it is now for Donald Trump it was fake news manufactured by the BBC, CNN and Channel 4 that went on to tell the world that Sri Lankan Armed Forces carried out war crimes. The whole of the Eelam Wars should be investigated with a view to understand who really were behind the Tamil Tigers. Then only it is possible to find out those who funded, supplied propaganda and trained terrorists to create mayhem in Sri Lanka over a period of 30 years.
Threat of world wide terrorism must be recognised as a cancer against civilised society. Time has come for the whole world to unite to eradicate this cancer once and for all. Just like smallpox and dengue mosquitoes, the sources of terrorism should be identified and destroyed without pity.
World will be a better place for all if the Big Powers – The US, Russia and China unite to undertake this task. In Sri Lanka our task will be to make all efforts to present all known intelligence to these big powers and make the necessary diplomatic moves to inform and educate those that matter.
If Sri Lanka waits too long, it will not be long before the Tamil Tigers form a front calling themselves – Tamils for Trump and get into his confidence in the same way they did with Clinton in 2008.
Hoping and waiting is the last thing that Sri Lanka should do at a time a golden opportunity has presented itself in the form of Donald Trump. Trump and Putin are on the same page against terrorism and we must take advantage of this rare earthly event!
I hope Mahinda Rajapakse and the Joint Opposition understand that we cannot live like frogs in a well ‘hoping’ while there is a new dynamic of National Interest coming to the forefront all around the world. Highly tooted cries of Democracy and Human Rights will soon become old world tools of disgruntled Neocons, pseudo Marxists and Liberals soon to be discarded and given second rate priority when the whole of civilised society is threatened with terrorism that knows no law or civility.
The New Dynamic is also against Radical Islam which is just one of the fountains of Terrorism.
