   I don’t know the motive behind Modi’s visits, however when listen to his speech at BMICH, it shows there is no one among the current political leaders in Sri Lanka who can speak to the point with so many quotes fit for the occasion. He delivered a similar speech when he addressed the parliament in his last visit. Compare to Modi, our PM and Prez are just jokers!

   We cannot expect MR to scrap 13A if he is still going behind India like this… What happened to Gota’s view against the 13A?? Are they going to come back to power on Indian backing??

   Meeting Modi is a good diplomatic move.

   The situation is becoming more and more complicated day by day. Pool Mother Lanka must be wondering what her son’s are doing to safeguard her sovereignty…

   NO ONE in SL parliament, president AND their relatives are interested in MOTHER LANKA.

   They are FIGHTING AMONG THEMSLVES to DRAG MOTHERLANKA by her hair and throw her at the feet of MODIYA to do whatever he wishes.

   Have some SELF RESPECT SLs. IF you behave like DOORMATS the world will TREAT you like doormats. IF you vote for ENDIAN DOORMATS you will also become their DOORMATS.

   @ Senarath, I don’t know the whole story you say but recently happened to listen to Nalin over the Buddhist TV. Though a few things he told looked not one would say normally I would of course agree with him about what he said. We blindly keep a lot of faith on science, true it help us but as another erudite Buddhist monk said, science & research increase our panchaneevarana.Hard to believe,no, yes but if you improve your understanding of Buddhism, you learn what is the meaning. The man in the stone age learnt to make fire by rubbing two stones, science at its infancy ,thus we make some innovations scientifically & medically along our path, no wonder. But in all these, there is no truth, you know. I’ve not followed Nalin on what he has said on Buddhism but can gauge his point of view from what I heard on the TV. I don’t want to go into depth here, but develop your Sharda & learn true Buddhism that could make you understand Nalin better.

   I generally AGREE with Charithsl but NOT this time.

   This is the same Christians say when they CANNOT justify some nonsense logically and why Hindus believe in ETs and Islamic faith. It is CIRCULAR LOGIC. You need SHARDA to believe it and those beliefs reinforce sharda.

   The good thing about science is ANY OPEN MIND can understand it. You don’t have to BELIEVE in the end product to find it. The end product is UNKNOWN when you begin the journey of discovery.

   I think TRUE BUDDHISM comes CLOSER to science than SHARDA.

   I agree with NALIN on ALL matters relating to SL but DISAGREE with him when he goes away from science.

   QUESTION MORE!

   Just follow KALAMA SUTRA and you will FIND the unknown.

   Lorenzo, I respect your views & you’ve all the right to believe in it. This is not to change anyone’s opinion. Uchchedavada is well described as one extreme in the Kachchanagotta Sutra, so no surprise in people who advocate your view.
   There are three groups of people in the world, one who learn the absolute truth, the other group who believe in the world’s truth and the rest who has no idea even on the second. Well I leave it with you to find the meaning if you have any desire. True,the fire the man got rubbing together two stones helped him & so will be the innovations. I dabble with some science for my living but now feel mature enough to understand this is also a sort of a craft you become good at but well stop at a certain end with exits closed. It is not my intension to show that I’m right so I stop here.

   ඒ නිසා ඔහු දැනටමත් නැගෙනහිර පිරිස් සංවිධානය කරගෙන ද්රවිඩ ඡන්ද මහින්දට නැවත දිනාදීමේ වැඩසටහනක්ද අරඹා ඇත.
   මෝදි විරෝධය හා ඉන්දියානු විරෝධය සංහිඳියා විරෝධය සිංහල ජාතිකත්වයේ නායකයා ලෙස මහින්ද නැංවීමට විමල්ට හොඳ උපාය මාර්ග වුවත් කරුණා දන්වා ඇත්තේ මෝදිගේ පැමිණීම ලක්ෂ සංඛ්යාත ද්රවිඩ ජනයාගේ සිත්සතන්වලට ආලෝකයක්වී ඇති බවයි. මෝදිගේ රැස්වීමට පැමිණි ලක්ෂ සංඛ්යාත ජනතාවගෙන්ද එය පසුව තහවුරු විය.
   ඒ හේතුකොට ද්රවිඩ සිත්සතන් බිඳවමින් මෝදිට එරෙහිව කලුකොඩි එසවීම යනු මහින්ද 2015 පරාජයටත් එහා ගිය ආගාධයකට තල්ලු කරගැනීමක්වනු ඇති බව ඔහු පවසා ඇත.
   මහින්ද වෙනස්වූයේ එම කතාවෙන් පසුය. දේශපාලන වාසිය වෙනුවෙන් විමල් ඇතුළු පිරිස කියූ කතාද නොකියූ සේ කටයුතු කළ අතර වේදිකාවේ සිටි කිසිවෙකු හෝ කළු කොඩි දැම්මේ නැත.

   මෝදිව ආදරයෙන් පිළිගනිමින් BMICH ගිය මහින්ද පසුදා ඔහුව හමුවී සුහදවූයේ දෙමළ ජනයාට පෙනෙන්ට ඡායාරූප වලටද පෙනී සිටිමිනි.

    If what Senerath says is true, it is not difficult to predict the next defeat of Rajapaksas. Based on Basil’s claim that over 90% of borrowed funds since 2009 was spent on the north and east (he made this statement in early 2013), I predicted the end of Mahinda’s rule.

    The term minority is misleading. Only Hindus (13%) have some regard for Modi. Muslims and Christians (17%) do not have any regard for him (to say the least). Trying to appease Hindus (unwinnable minority) loses the winnable minorities (Muslims and Christians) of a higher number.

    Dubious advisors are at it again. Karuna is no politician. He has been unable to get elected to parliament, provincial council or even a pradeshiya sabha. Taking his advice is a disaster. This is usual extortion minorities have used time and again. However, in return they don’t vote.

    Minorities more than 15% (as in 2015) will never vote for any Rajapaksa. It is a certainty. What will happen is, in their attempt to woo the minorities, Rajapaksas will lose the critical advantage of the majority as well. Once again they will lose the branch they hold and the branch they had their feet on. Cheating Sinhalese with black flags (later white flags) to appease Tamils is a political disaster. Hopefully, they will take this advice in good spirit and change than lose once again.

    Modi’s love for estate tamil’s is fake. He only wants to use them as a power tool manipulate politics in Sri lanka.
    Yesterday I happened to be in Salem and met some Sri Lankan Tamils who migrated there in 1983. I felt very sad when one of them told me that they are treated worse than dogs and that they still consider Sri lanka to be their mother land.
    Those who cheered Modi the other day are ignorant of this fact and must some how be educated before its too late.

    Can I add something to what Dilrook has said. Another mistake Mahinda administration made was paying too much attention to the urban development projects. Voters in cities especially in Colombo and around were using the best facilities like parks and walking tracks and voted to Ranil. Mahinda’s vote base is in rural Sri Lanka. My guess is majority of youth who sacrificed their lives for the fight against terrorism were from NWP. But the money spent for the development of these rural area were less compare to the money spent on mega city projects. Life in rural Sri Lanka is not what we see in “Sihina Lokaya” thorough commercial TV channels. Sri Lanka’s development should be based and focused on rural people.

    Lionel is right.

    Having spent most on the north and east since 2010, most of the rest was spent in cities. But their voters as usual voted for UNP camp. Kurunegala has the highest number of soldiers followed by Anuradhapura. Both districts were completely neglected.

    However, in Mahinda’s first term and as PM he focused on rural areas as never before. It helped overcome bad effects of the tsunami and drum up support for war.
