JVP to court against transfer of Yugadanavi (Video)

A discussion was held this afternoon between the government’s partners and the Ports, Oil, and Electricity Trade Union Alliance against the sale of local resources regarding the agreement to hand over a part of the Yugadanavi power plant to an American company.
The discussion was held at the Communist Party headquarters in Sri Lanka.
Wimal Weerawansa, Leader of the Jathika Nidahas Peramuna, Udaya Gammanpila, Leader of the Pivithuru Hella Urumaya, Dayasiri Jayasekara, State Minister and Secretary-General of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party, Prof. Tissa Vitarana, Secretary of the Lanka Sama Samaja Party and Member of Parliament Ven. Athuraliye Rathana Thera were also present at the discussion.
Meanwhile, the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) also filed a writ petition in the Court of Appeal today seeking the issuance of a writ order nullifying the agreement which is said to have been signed a 40 percent stake in the Kerawalapitiya Yugadanavi power plant to an American company.
The Cabinet of Ministers has named 43 parties including the Chairman of the Public Utilities Commission as respondents in the petition.
