Prof Rajiva Wijesinha on HARDtalk .
Posted on July 10th, 2011
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ He talks about the similarities between the charges made, and the shifting claims, including the admission that the date originally alleged by Channel 4 was false. The Experts commissioned by the UN have also revealed that the video has been edited and sections transposed, though Channel 4, whilst citing the experts, will not admit to this themselves.
Further issues discussed include what seems the efforts of some Western politicians, in particular British ones, to cater to their electorates without thinking of the interests of Tamils in Sri Lanka. Issues regarding current efforts at reconciliation, and the need to move forward, were also raised.

It is easily seen how biased this Sakur guy is. Even after Prof. explained that the panel appointed by BankiMoon is not a “UN panel” he continues to call it a UN panel report!!

These programs have duel purposes. Firstly they try to pin down the person being interviewed and there is no doubt that Prof. Wijesinha won that battle hands down. However, their other strategy is to used carefully selected wording to bring discredit to the person being interviewed or the subject under discussion. They lavishly use the terms such as murder, rape, UN panel etc to reinforce the idea in listeners minds so that irrespective of whether the interviewee was able to withstand the onslaught the listener is left with a grim dark picture of the topic. In that regard it is a win-win situation for the broadcaster.
