Maithri loots UPFA

President Maithripala Sirisena consolidated his position as leader of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) by appointing known loyalists to the slots allocated to the United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA). The list includes seven who had contested and lost at the recently concluded parliamentary elections.
This comes in the aftermath of Sirisena’s pre-election moves to trump the so-called Mahinda (Rajapaksa) Faction by removing the General Secretaries of both the SLFP and UPFA and replacing them with his backers. He is said to be behind the move to stop the SLFP’s Central Committee from meeting via a court injunction. He later sacked suspected Mahinda-loyalists from the SLFP’s Central Committee.
President Sirisena also appointed several of these loyalists to a committee tasked to work out an agreement with the United National Party (UNP) to form a ‘National Government’. Almost simultaneously Sirisena moved to evict other ‘Mahinda-loyalists’ from the Executive Committee of the UPFA.
These developments have effectively pruned the UPFA’s strength from a ‘results day’ 95 to just 9 (5 from the National Freedom Front, and 1 each from the Pivithuru Hela Urumaya, Mahajana Eksath Peramuna, Ceylon Workers Congress and the New Left Front).
The fate of the other 74 (i.e. leaving out the 12 from the National List) including former president Mahinda Rajapaksa is uncertain since they could be stripped of membership in the SLFP and possibly their parliamentary seat.

WHAT RIDICULOUSLY INFANTILE BEHAVIOR OF A PRESIDENT WHO DO NOT KNOW TO PLAY BY THE RULES OF DEMOCRACY.
MY3 IS BECOMING MORE AND MORE OF A SHAME FOR SRI LANKA…AND WORSE…HE DOES NOT SEEM TO CARE A JOT AS HE GOES ON DEMOLISHING THE SLFP INTO SMITHEREENS.
IS HE THE SLFP’S PARTY LEADER OR THE PARTY DESTROYER?

Pres Sirisena’s task (who is directing the show for him in the present scenario ?), seems to be bent on shredding the SLFP to be smaller in political power than the UNP ? To please whom ?
When ‘peacekeepr’ Norway was in Lanka, there was a talk that they wanted to ‘equal’ the power between the LTTE & the Lanka Army.

(Lanka-e-News- 21.Aug.2015, 11.50AM) ‘Continue with the investigations into the frauds and corruption of the previous government members who have been elected at the recent elections , without interruption , and duly punish them , with a view to purging the SLFP of the undesirables and criminals ,’ Dr. Sarath Amunugama has requested to president Maithripala Sirisena. Amunugama made this request when the Central committee of the SLFP met yesterday morning, chaired by the president.
It is to be noted that nobody obstructed or objected to Amunugama’s request .
Menwhile , the FCID (police financial crimes investigation department ) and the CID resumed their investigations .
During the elections in compliance with a request made by the Elections commissioner , the investigations were put on hold. Ajith Nivard Cabraal the Central bank governor an accused who heaved a sigh of relief during the elections and thought he has found an escape route was summoned to the FCID for questioning again. Wimal Weerawansa’s wife charged with fraud and forgery too was summoned for further questioning by the CID . Udaya Gammanpila who parades as a Buddhist sentinel and savior of Buddhism had also to face the CID over a complaint made by an Australian national . All of them were summoned for questioning yesterday.

Fran Diaz, YES you are absolutely right. There is no Pramadas to fund this equal status. But Tamiks for OBAMA And MUSLIM OBAMA has! Muslim Ambassador already has it in the new RANIL PUNKS constitution.

Majority of the UPFA candidates won their seats in the Parliament on the strength of Mahinda’s face. We have to see who will stay with him to the end. There is nothing wrong in Mahinda forming a new party and taking all those who would stay with him and form the Opposition. There is nothing good left in the old SLFP.
The formation of the SLFP in 1951 divided the Sinhalese between two parties that did not represent their interest but their own desire for power while Tamils and Muslims formed their own parties and worked incessantly to further their goals and aspirations.
Sinhalese need a voice and a party which will not be shy to say that they represent Sinhala interests while looking after minority interests in a responsible way.

I do totally agree with Ratanapala. But, will MR, at this point form another party ?
It is the Sinahala majority that is Voiceless in the World. MR & his Group were the lone voices for the Sinhale, now silenced by MY3, CBK & RW. CBK & RW have joined up with all sorts of foreign organisations and these two people represent those organisations more than the Sinhala Voice and SRI LANKA, with shocking lawbreaking support from MY3 to do so.
Long years ago, John Still, who was a part of Colonial British rule of Lanka, wrote in his book “Jungle Tide”, that the Sinhala Buddhists of (then) Ceylon were a very tolerant people. I shall add here that these Sinhala/Buddhists are so tolerant that they have fast become a minority voice in their own country !
The Sinhala people must UNITE to represent their interests or will lose their country and the VALUES that holds Lanka together.

In my view, it is NOT Pres Obama. It is Ex-Colonists & Neo-Colonists who are in the driving seat along with Tamil Separatist leaders all over the world.
