   Thank you Dr. Jayatunga for enlightening us on this. I thought during Mr. Gotabhaya’s time our forces were very well taken care of. My heart go out to these valiant soldiers for the unbelievable services they rendered to the motherland.

   Your revelations of the LTTE atrocities make me sick, even more sick of the current puppets who are supposed to be leading the country. Terrorists have more rights than the government forces.

   May all those involved in protecting the country now have the protection of Buddha, Dhamma, Sangha and all the Devas.    Thank you for the link. Hope you have listened to this sermon with 100% attention and “sathi sampajanna”.
   Please remember to love these soldiers who made the actual sacrifices. They are us. We are them. We have no connection to the commanders. Out hearts should connect to them not to politicians and commanders in air-conditioned rooms and bunkers with ZERO sacrifices but ready to take all the credit.

   Politicians are making use of foolish but kind people’s love to gather wealth and power. They are stealing that wealth developed in compassionate hearts. Don’t get caught.

   I too thought this way until we saw Sunil Ratnayake prosecuted and sentenced by LTTE government recently. Even Ruwan thought he too was suffering from PTSD when he committed crimes ( if any). But he was not treated and released ? Surely it was a case similar to the soldier Ruwan was talking about. He was sent to battlefield before curing.
   My heart too goes out to these valiant soldiers for the unbelievable services they rendered to the motherland but my brain goes to politicians who took less risk than general public ( even thought they could have been targets , they have so much security , bullet proof vehicles , bunkers you name it).

   We should make use of politicians. We should get promises in writing from them and force them to fulfil those promises. We should not sign blind checks.

   We thank Dr Ruwan Jayatunge for this revealing article about the state of matters re SL Army soldiers in need of proper health care. Also the plight of able psychiatrists who are not given due place and recognition.

   In the heat of civil conflict, those in charge earlier did not respond quickly and efficiently to mental illness in soldiers – no obvious signs till something triggers an episode of violent or odd behavior patterns. However, physical disabilities may have received better care, as the injuries are plain to see.

   A shameful state of affairs for Buddhist Lanka ….

   At least at this late stage, after nearly 30 yrs of war which ended in May 2009, it would be a good thing if the President directed a Special Medical Commission to inquire into the needs of earlier soldiers who are still suffering from diseases such as PTSD, as well as reward physicians who have done exceptionally good work serving the Nation in our hour of need.

   The case of Sgt Sunil Ratnayake especially must be looked into immediately with understanding and compassion. He was forced to do duty as a soldier whilst still unwell during the time Chandrika Kumaratunge was President and Ranil Wickremasinghe was Prime Minister. He must be released from the unfair prison sentence and receive the proper medical treatment that is due to him from the State.

   We know that as Secy. for Defense, Gotabhaya Rajapakse (Gota) did a great service looking after the injured Army personnel as well as their families. We ourselves contributed toward the Ranaviru Seva Services which was set up by Gota, and helped a destitude Army family through the young boy who was sponsored by us, as his father had died.

   We hope many people who feel concerned will help in any way possible in this worthy cause.

   Our sincere thoughts go out to you brave doctor. Posterity will recognise your services as a true hero of Motherlanka’s struggle against Tamil Tiger Terrorism and also against our own traitors. Our heroes are a forgotten lot, not even 7 years after the end of open hostilities.

   In Europe 70 years after the end of World War II, Nazis are not allowed to raise their heads. Security concerns are still addressed and security zones are still in place where they are required to maintain the post war status quo. In Sri Lanka even after a disastrous 30 year racist terrorist war, the traitorous Aappaya – Ponil administration is dismantling the security infrastructure.

   People have a right not to topple these imposters. Constitution is there to protect the people and not vice versa.

   Nearly 400 soldiers had committed Suicide in the Post War Sri Lanka: In 2006, one senior officer attached to the Military Hospital Colombo closed the Combat Stress Treatment Center that was headed by the Consultant Psychiatrist Dr. Neil Fernando. Following this unwise action many combatants suffered from battle stress had no way to receive appropriate psychotherapy. In later years this short sighted action was criticized by many as the biggest betrayal to the Sri Lanka Army and it has caused an immense damage to the image of the military. Many combatants who suffered from battle stress had no way to receive psychotherapy and counseling became deserters. Some committed suicide.

   According to the Military Spokesman Brig. Ruwan Wanigasooriya nearly 400 soldiers committed suicide between 2009 – 2012 postwar period in Sri Lanka. These victims suffered from various stress related conditions and some were diagnosed with PTSD.

   හමුදා රෝහලේ මගේ කෙටි කාලීන සේවය තුලද මම මෙය දැක්කෙමි. ඇතැම් නිලධාරීන් තුවාල ලැබූ සොල්දාදුවන්ට සලකන්නේ බල්ලන්ට මෙනි. ඔවුන් කොටි සල්ලි ගත්තේ දැයි මට සිතුනු අවස්ථා අපමණය. තුවාල ලැබූ සොල්දාදුවන් ගේ බිරින්දෑ වරුන්ට ඇතැම් විට ඉතා නින්දිත දේ විඳීමට සිදුවේ. යුද්ධය ගැන කතාකරන බොහෝ දෙනෙක් මේවා දන්නේ නැත. ගණන්ගන්නේ ද නැත.

   මම ඉතා සුළු කාලෙකින් හමුදා රෝහලෙන් ගියේ අතිමහත් කලකිරීමෙනි.

   රට දැය රැකගත් රණ විරුවන්ට බල්ලන්ට මෙන් සලකන්නට පටන් ගත්තේ යුද්ධය පවතින කාලයේ සිටමය. ඇතැම් විට සංඝයා වහන්සේලා හමුදා රෝහලට පැමිණ තුවාල ලැබූ සොල්දාදුවන්ට ආවතේව කරයි. එම සේවය ඉතා අගනේය. සංඝයා වහන්සේලාගේ මැදිහත්වීමෙන් බොහෝ දේ සොල්දාදුවන්ට ලැබුණි. ඇතැම් විට සංඝයා වහන්සේලාටද කුණු බැනුම් ඇසීමට සිදුවේ. උන්වහන්සේලා ඒවා විද දරා ගත්තේ රණ්ඩුවට යෑමෙන් සොල්දාදුවන්ට එම සහනයද නැතිවන බව දනිමිනි.

   කුමන දේශපාලන කල්ලියක සිටියත් අතුරලියේ රතන ස්වාමින්වහන්සේගේ සේවය අගය කල යුතුය. උන්වහන්සේගේ අප්‍රමාන වෙහෙසින් දිවි රැකුණු තුවාල ලැබූ සොල්දාදුවන් ගණන දුසිම් ගණනකි.

   මේ පාපකර්මයට දේශපාලන කල්ලිවාදයෙන් අන්ධ වුනු මෝඩ සිංහලයන්ද වගකිව යුතුය.

   යුද්ධයෙන් පසු සොල්දාදුවන්ට කිසිදු අමතර සහනයක් ලැබුනේ නැත. එය මහා පරිමාන ඉච්චා භංගත්වයට හේතු විය. සොල්දාදුවන් ලවා දෙමල ප්‍රදේශ වල කානු සුද්ද කිරීමටත්, පාරවල් අතුගෑමටත්, වැලි කොට්ට සිමෙන්ති කොට්ට ඇදීමටත්, කකුස්සි සෝදන්නටත් තරම් දේශපාලුවන් තුච්ඡ විය. ඔවුන් දෙමළ ජනයාගේ උසුළු විසුළු වලට ලක් විය. 2015 ජනාධිපතිවරණයේදී අධි බහුතර හමුදා සෙබළුන් පැවති රජයට විරුද්ධව චන්දය දුන්නේ මේ නිසාය.

   යුද්ධය දින්නේ දේසපාලුවන් නම් හමුදා රෝහල පිරී යා යුතුව තිබුනේ දේසපාලුවන් සහ උන්ගේ අඹු දරුවන් ගෙනි. නමුත් උන් එකෙකුවත් හමුදා රෝහලට ඇතුලත් නොවීය. දේසපාලුවන් තෑගි රැගෙන වසරකට වරක් හමුදා රෝහලට එන විට අපි සෙබළුන්ට වැඳ ඉල්ලන්නේ උන්ගේ හිතේ කැකෑරෙන වචන පිට නොකරන ලෙසය. නමුත් බොහෝ විට සොල්දාදුවන් ජනාධිපති සිට සේවා වනිතා ලොක්කන් දක්වා එවුනට අමු සිංහලෙන් බැණ වැදුණු අවස්ථා ඇත. ජාතික රූපවාහිනියට පමණක් හමුදා රෝහල ආවරණය කිරීමට අවසර දී ඇත්තේ මේ නිසාය.

   මෙම කරුණු කාරනා කතා කරන්නට ඉඩ දීමට මෙම වෙබ් අඩවියට අප ස්තූති විය යුතුය. මම විදේශ ගත වී ඇති බැවින් කිසිදු බියකින් තොරව මට කතා කල හැකිය. ලංකාවේ සිටි කාලයේ මහා රෑ නිවස අසල headlight දමමින් horn ගහන හමුදා වාහන සුලභ වූයේ සොල්දාදු පුතුන් වෙනුවෙන් මම මැදිහත්වී කතා කල පසුය.

   දේශප්‍රේමය ගැන සීතල රටවල් වල සිට කෑමොර දෙන දේශපාලුවන්ගේ ගැත්තන්ට මේවා ඇසීම දුෂ්කර බව දනිමි. එයම මට සතුටකි. යුද්ධය දින්නේ කඳුලින්, ලෙයින්, හඩු මූත්‍ර ගඳින් සහ පිරිමි ස්ත්‍රී ළමා විලාප මැද මිස පාර්ලිමේන්තු, මන්දීර, ac කාමර සහ වෙබ් අඩවි තුල නොවේ. සිංහල ලේ හලා ප්‍රසූති වූ මව් කිරි බී ලොකු මහත් වූවන් මෙය අවබෝධ කර ගත යුතුමය.

    People who worship politicians here should answer this question. Please stop worshiping them praise them for good action and kick their back side for bad action. Give a good verbal hammering. Otherwise they will go from bad to worse.

    Sri Lankans have to recognise that it is mostly nearly 500 yrs of COLONISATON that has brought tragedy to our island home, dividing our society as never before.

    Next, to bring true and lasting closure to any past negative events, GoSL will probably have to appoint a Commission to look into the Grievances of Army Personnel throughout the nearly 30 yrs of conflict.

    When all sides to the long conflict in Lanka have had their Grievances settled, then we can say we have a lasting Peace. The citizens of Lanka have to make sure that the country is never ever subjugated again. A truly indpendent and free country must emerge from the dust of the long wars from outside and inside. Or else war was futile and a waste of life, and objectives not realised.

    Re Labor : A comment on Labor and Labor being ‘looked down’ on (per Piyadigama) :

    This is part of the Caste divide attitude from INDIA. The Caste system originated from the type of work done, the High caste folk looking down on the others.

    Labor is merely Physical Work.

    We, the citizens of Lanka, who are mostly Buddhist, do not have to ‘look down’ on whatever physical work is done – food production, factory work, digging ditches, road work, sewing, cleaning bathrooms & toilets, cooking, handyman work, teaplucking, etc. Lanka would not function without physical work.

    Most of us do these activities on a smaller scale in our gardens and our own homes doing our own cooking, cleaning the home & toilets/bathrooms, etc. There is no indignity in doing our own physical work. There is no need to ‘look down’ on any type of physical work. In fact, most of the REAL work in the world is physical work and those who do such must feel PROUD to do so. Others must respect those who do physical work. Only foolish people look down on physical work. Without Physical work the world would grind to a halt. Children must be taught at an early age to respect physical work and encouraged to do such work according to their ability and age.

    People who balance their lives with work that involves both physical work as well as use their brains (Intellectual), are the happiest folk in the world. There are NO FALSE VALUES in such people.

    Labor Day on the 1st of May is all about DIGNITY OF LABOR, Physical or Intellectual. Celebrate both !

    However, we remain subjugated as long as the 13th amendment to the constitution is in force. It was not added to the constitution through the will of the people of Sri Lanka, quite the opposite. India imposed it on Sri Lanka to satisfy India’s needs.

    It is absolutely foolish to ask citizens of Lanka have to make sure that the country is never ever subjugated again. How can they make sure such thing ?
    For example when Rajiv came, there was only one citizen who protested directly to him. Thousands of people protested, some got killed but 13A was showed in.

    When the leaders do horrible things people kick them out regardless of which party he is from. that is all they can do and MUST DO.

    Near 500 yrs of COLONISATION is at the bottom of division of Lanka & her People. COLONIAL ‘rule by the gun’ imposed fear and death on the local Colonised populations. Local folk who ran with the Colonial Powers usually converted through Fear and for Favors. Those leaders who did not run with Colonial Powers went into disfavor and were either killed or impoverised. In Lanka, even DS Senanayake and other Sinhala leaders were jailed during the 1915 Muslim protest riots. Young William Pedris who was an able Officer of the BRITISH ARMY was put to death by the ruling British on trumped up charges of conspiracy in the riots of 1915. The country was completely crushed through Fear of the Colonists.

    Re: Ultra pro west JRJ Cold War times when the 13-A was impsoed : It is when the UNP came into power during the Cold War times that INDIA panicked and imposed the 13-A. At that time the rural Sinhala Buddhist youth had formed the Communist JVP. Now Lanka is stuck with the 13-A.

    Question: Why don’t the now powerful pro-west Ranil led UNP group REMOVE the 13-A, even at this late stage ? It is foolish not to do so, in the interests of the country & the People, indeed the whole SE Asian region, on a forever basis, isn’t it ?
    To remove the 13-A, now all the information necessary for the public is out in the open

    Repeat : It is up to the UNP led Yahap to remove the 13-A.
    Replace it with the District System and SLAS Administration system which works very well for a small country like Sri Lanka.

    The new Constitution (which is unnecessary), if brought about, can have a header similar to the American Constitution – the RIGHT TO PURSUE HAPPINESS with the clauses necessary to make such endeavors to bring about positive action only.

    Note that INDIA fought for Independence from Britain in a Non-Violent way. Note also that INDIA will never want to be Colonised again. Neither does the sane 99% of Lanka !!
