Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa stated that he will work only to fulfill the requirements of the Joint Opposition.

He further stated that his brother and former Minister Basil Rajapaksa has not and will not make political decisions on behalf of him.

Mahinda Rajapaksa is the only leader who can save us at the moment not anybody else. Sira, Chandrika,Ranil all three Stooges failed in their responsibilities. They are traitors to our Motherland. Because of those three, international community poking their fingers more and unnecessarily than any other times to our country. Mahinda has the guts, knowledge and a vision to take us forward therefore vote for pohottuwa this time believing in him and his team.

GR has left for USA for a 2 months long TRIP. He will NOT be around for the election!! This is his second trip in 2017.

Some people say GR is DISAPPOINTED after the BREAK-UP of the JOINT OPPOSITION.

I’m confused. Do we REALLY need a person who runs to USA SO OFTEN to be our president????

The country between 2009-2015 on the whole was progressing fairly well despite a post 2008 Global economic crash out of the west that triggered a long economic recession/depression 9 years now that the world is still living under it has created tremenous difficulties in the west post 2008 crash.

Mahinda Rajapaksha between 2009-2015 steered the country well true these stormy waters. But in his second term he started to believe his own publicity he also has been shown to have a massive ego!. Started initiating ill thought white elephant projects in his home district of Hambantota. Bigggest criminal enterprise was building the Mahinda Rajapaksha international airport. A totally unncecessary project. Also MR did little to ease the cost of living and the lot of the most vulnerable and poorest in Sri Lankan society IE the rural areas saw no benefit from his rule in peace time. He didnt help the rural areas enough except pour massive amounts of money into hambantota with his name emblazoned everywhere.

Also there was rumours of corruption. His son Namal was in the newspapers constantly driving lambouurginis while rural people were struggling to even eat food. These things I believe as well a foreign conspiracy topple MR led to his defeat in Jan 2015.

Personally I thought MR should have been re elected. I was very surprised when he lost in 2015 But I can understand why MR was kicked out by the Sri lankan electorate back then.

If he comes back to power which there is a good chance I hope he doesn t repeat the mistakes he made that led to his defeat and ended a good little prosperous stable period for Sri Lanka between May 2009 to Jan 2015.
