President Maithripala Sirisena told Parliament yesterday that a draft bill he had prepared when he was the Minister of Health but it had gone missing in 2011 at Legal Draftsman’s Department due to the intervention of some higher-ups of the then regime. Then he could not find his original copy
President Sirisena told that a powerful politician of the previous regime had taken a bribe of one billion rupees to shelve the national drug policy draft Bill. But he failed to accept the fact that as a responsible minister he should have kept either a hard copy or an electronic copy of the bill he had formulated by himself.
Then he went into say that an investigation should have been conducted to find the person responsible, but the entire nation knew under whose authority the Legal Draftsman Department functioned then taking a chance to blame former President for his sloppy work practice and said “It is no secret under whose purview that department was. The loss of the draft bill was the biggest tragedy in the country’s health sector.”
I began work on the Bill in 2010 and finished work in December 2012. Then I presented it to former President Mahinda Rajapaksa for necessary action.
The then head of the Legal Draftsman Department Theresa Perera accepted the Bill promising that draft would be returned complete in one week. But, thereafter she retired and the draft bill disappeared.
Then I asked the officials of the Legal Draftsman’s Department whether they have any information on the Bill. They said no. Then, I called the lady officer and asked whether she had any information about the Bill. She said it was in her computer and she will give it. But, I did not get any details. So, we had to reform it from the beginning. I must thank Dr. Beligaswatta, Specialist Dr. Palitha Abeykoon and all other Professors and Doctors at the Colombo University and officials of the Health Ministry and Legal Draftsman’s Department for their great service and contribution for formulation this Bill

So, why does he NOT name the POWERFUL POLITICIAN OF THE PREVIOUS REGIME, and get him arrested for Bribery ?

Susantha this guy is a liar from the beginning. When asked whether he will be the Podu Apekshakaya he said NO and next day he put a HOP STEP AND JUMP to the Opposite and declared he is the PODU APEKSHAKAYA. Then he said he will Govern the country from Pollonnaruwa and he don’t like to stay in palaces. So now what he is doing? He said no cut outs of him anywhere in the country but see now even in toilets,bus stands,buses have his ugly face.
To me he is a very low class uneducated son of a mother. He is worst than Mervin Silva because see the difference of language when he speaks. President Mahinda never spoke such low words or speak ill-will about anybody. He used very special words while MY3 use third grade words although he is the President of Sri Lanka. This guy will never allow Mahinda to come forward.He lives with hatred in his heart towards him for some reason which I cannot understand.
MY3,Siripala,Yapa,Chandrika lot will never allow Mahinda to be the Prime Minister at any time soon. They are not worried about the party or the people but only about themselves. Did you saw how MY3 was complaining against S.L.F.P and the Opposition for not supporting his bill before and did you saw where he was standing in the Parliament? How can you trust such a person will help S.L.F.P to win the next General elections by standing with the UNP and other traitors? The S.L.F.P should kick this guy out period and get Mahinda back because he was the one person who brought this party to this level they are in today.
MY3,CHANDRIKA,Ranil,Cahmpaka,Awamangalaya,Rajithaya,Sobithaya, Rathanaya and all the rest want one thing and that is to stop Mahinda coming back to politics. They want his scalp dead or alive. They were all planning with the Diaspora,West,India and others to take him to Hague with other war heroes nothing else. They know that if the Lion of Hambantota wakes up they will not have a place to hide this time. I hope people will understand the UNPer’s evil motives and support to bring back our Sinhala Baiya to lead us for a better future to live in Peace.

As we all know, in Sri Lanka, bribes are normally collected by the family members on behalf of the Minister, so, most appropriate action Mr. Sirisena for you to check the bank account of your brothers. Check how one of your brothers bought a multibillion Rs worth tourist hotel at Nuwara Eliya outright at that time.

YES RANJIT !! THIS GUY USE VERY LOWLY LANGUAGE, FOR A PRESIDENT OF A COUNTRY. EX-PRESIDENT MAHINDA, DID NOT USE THIS KIND OF LANGUAGE. HE WAS A SYMBOL OF REFINEMENT IN LANGUAGE AND DECORUM.
THERE IS SOMETHING VERY FISHY ABOUT HIS **ONE BILLION** TALK. HE IS THE PSEUDO PRESIDENT OF THE COUNTRY. HE DID NOT TAKE HIS OATH, UNDER A CONSTITUTIONALLY APPOINTED CHIEF JUSTICE. WHY CANT HE NAME **THE VERY INFLUENTIAL POLITICIAN WHO TOOK THE ONE BILLION**?
WHY CANT HE NAME THE 400 PHARMACEUTICAL COMPANIES THAT PAID THIS MONEY TO THE SAID POLITICIAN ?
One does not have to know Rocket Science to come to the most likely conclusion why he is saying something with no action initiated, as a President, to punish the CRIMINAL. This is evading Presidential Responsibility.
THE REASON IS VERY CLEAR***Obviously he is expecting a part of the loot, with a threat of intimidation. and apparent Blackmail. It is tantamount to DAMNING EXTORTION. These are underworld tactics. SHAME.
COME OUT WITH THE NAME OF THE CRIMINAL AND THE 400 COMPANIES WHOM YOU SAY ARE INVOLVED IN A FINANCIAL SCAM, IN SRI LANKA UNDER YOUR COMMAND. People will then respect you as the President. Don’t leave room for conjecture of your presidential status.
