SLFP´s decision to form a National Govt

Yesterday, SLFP Central Committee member Faizer Mustapha said that the Central Committee had decided to set up a National Govt. He had added that the agreement by SLFP MP´s to support a National Govt is another progressive step taken under the leadership of President Sirisena. In connection with this, the SLFP Gen Secy Anura Yapa had said that SLFP members are allowed to take up Ministerial posts in the National Govt.
President Sirisena won the elections on the slogan, ´wipe out nepotism and corruption´. But so far nothing much had been done on corruption except making statements to the media. The Govt is chasing after sprats while the whales are swimming freely. Having a National Govt is similar to one party system. ´You scratch my back and I scratch yours´. Everyone in the Govt will be involved in bribery and corruption because there is no opposition to keep watch on them. In the past, even though the UNP did not form a strong opposition Ministers knew that they would be exposed in Parliament. In the so called National Govt there will be no one to complaint and corrupt Ministers can carry on regardless and also provide them with perks and privileges.
The mandate given at the elections was to bring in specific constitutional reforms and not to go for a National Govt.

The present National Govt is a failed govt. It is UNP led and anything but National in its approach to governance. It is basically UNP led for what purpose mostly to serve outside interests. Can the SLFP do any better ? However, we expect a SLFP led National Govt to be more National minded, more so than a UNP led one under Sir Ranil ….
But a TNA led Opposition is the worst political set up for the country ! Foreign interests will fall over one another to go with the TNA only ?
I am sure there are more ramifications to all this ….

Namaste:”The mandate given at the elections was to bring in specific constitutional reforms and not to go for a National Govt”. Mandate given by the Indian colonial parasites with their decisive block vote at the direction of the Indian Empire. Whatever the form of government the Governor, Kankani and the Colie will carry on as directed by Indian imperialists. Jai Hind
