A huge operation has begun to remove the highly experienced professional with long experience in the insurance sector, Attorney-at-Law Deepthi Lokuarachchi from his post as Chief Executive Officer at Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation (SLIC) and currently this operation has reached its climax, revealed well informed and reliable sources.

A politically appointed individual to a high position at SLIC is reported to have threateningly told Deepthi Lokuarachchi to resign immediately.

It is learned that Deepthi Lokuarachchi had informed in writing about this to President Maithripala Sirisena.

At the same time, Deepthi Lokuarachchi has also lodged a complaint with the SLIC Human Resources Division that a particular group had harassed him on 21 April demanding that he resign immediately.

Meanwhile, the Sri Lanka Freedom Party’s (SLFP) SLIC trade union chairman Kamal Gomez told www.adaderanabiz.lk that the SLIC trade union federation was to meet their Managing Director this morning (12 June) to inquire whether a decision has been taken to remove Deepthi Lokuarachchi from his post of CEO.

Appointed as CEO of the Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation on 21 April 2014, Deepthi Lokuarachchi has graduated in law from the University of Colombo.

A chartered professional, Deepthi Lokuarachchi has some 22 years of experience in the insurance sector and is a member of the Chartered Insurance Institute of London.

He was for some time the General Manager – Distribution and Risk Management Division at AIA Insurance Limited as it is called now, and has also held high positions at institutions like AIG, Orient Insurance etc.

Similarly, a one-time president of the Sri Lanka Insurance Institute, Deepthi Lokuarachchi has also been the secretary of the Insurance Association of Sri Lanka (IASL).
