   Indian non-violent aggression and oppression is the cause of our problems as well as the problems of the locals of Indian colonies from Fiji to Guyana. It is not our fault there are people in other Indian colonies who are suffering like us. It is time for us to understand our plight and unite and lead others also who are the victims of Indian Imperialists nonviolent aggression and oppression.

   මීට කලින් මහින්ද රාජපක්‍ෂ ආණ්‌ඩුවත් සර්ව පාක්‍ෂික සමුළු පැවැත්වුවා. අපිත් සහභාගි වුණා. යෝජනාත් ඉදිරිපත් කළා. විශාල ලෙස මුදල් නාස්‌ති කරලා වාර්තා හැදුවා විතරයි. කිසිම දෙයක්‌ සිද්ධ වුණේ නෑ. දැන් ඔය කියන සර්ව පාක්‍ෂික සමුළුවේත් දිගක්‌ පළලක්‌ අරමුණක්‌ අපි තවම දන්නේ නෑ. කොහොමටත් අප ලද අත්දැකීම් අනුව සර්ව පාක්‍ෂික සමුළු යනු ආණ්‌ඩුව තමන්ට තිබෙන වගකීම අනෙක්‌ අය මත පැටවීමේ උපක්‍රමයක්‌.

   We can still be happy that some more true Hela blood is within this nation.

   Strong words from Dharmasiri. However, gratefulness should be towards the nation and not to politicians. Loyalty towards politicians (over the nation) pushed Sinhalese away from national interest.

   All political leaders since 1987 must take responsibility for keeping and implementing 13A. And for the continuation of Thesawalamei Marumakkathayam law. Also the non resettlement of ethnic Sinhalese in the north.

   In this regard, it was Sinhala politicians who showed acute ungratefulness to the nation that made them somebodies; not the Sinhala people.

   Interestingly the SLFP rejected 13A until 1992; JVP until 1999 and TNA/ITAK until 2012. UNP, SLMP, EPRLF and SLMC were the first to embrace it. Most of them have gone into political oblivion by now.

   Sampath you may not like Dilrook for some reason or the other which we do not know but there are so many in this forum who appreciate his writings and may not like your remark about him at all. Dilrook, Shenali, Charles,Dr. Nalin, Dharmasiri, Gavin, Dr.M.D.P.Dissnayaka, Prof.Rajiv, Prof Dyan. Prof Hudson and many more like them who write very useful articles on various subjects to Lankaweb have different views but whether we agree with them or not on their writings we read them with great interest and appreciate them all for their contributions on behalf of the lankaweb and to readers like us who learn and come to know many valuable Info thru their writings rather than from local media and T.V. channels which are all more to Govt propaganda than useful Info.

   When I read Senevi’s article I feel very angry with my own race and sad about our future generation. This is the only country who stopped terrorism completely including elimination of terrorist leaders and brought peace to a nation. Ending a war in a country should be appreciated by all peace loving citizens of all countries. Ending a war means Peace for all. Leaders who fearlessly gave the green light to the Armed Forces to go ahead and finish the job must be hailed as heroes not criminals. The current leaders who are taking our country backward and criminalizing our war victory should be treated as traitors. The Govt which do not respect the laws in the land and do things in a dictatorial way should be condemned by all peace loving people in this country. This is our Sinhala nation and should be more sympathetic to Sinhalese who lost everything due to terrorism for thirty long years. We lost our kith and kin, our economy was shattered and our Infrastructure was destroyed,Innocent Sinhala civilians were killed in thousands more than Tamils and Muslims who were our own citizens. We cannot allow some stupid politicians to destroy the Sinhala nation or the Sinhala race just because the world bullies says. We are a sovereign country with a 2600 years of history. When can we live as a proud nation? This land is our home not anybody else. No one can dictate to us what to do and where to live. We cannot just die because of power hungry evil politicians and cannot allow Foreign Forces to take over the country we call our home. Down with America and Indian parasites and the traitors to the Motherland.

   Majority of Sinahalese are literate but not educated or knowledgeable and are easily decieved and worst they have a very short memory.
   That is the reason why UNP the imperialist puppet can come to power and mess up the country from time to time.

   Golden words worthwhile repeating. Thank you Dilrook. It s the politicians who have neglected Sinhala people. People did there duty by giving such a big majority. Where is the pay back ?
   In a way people like Senevi are the ones ගුණමකු towards people, ready to blame the voter when after giving all the power they sleep and slowly let every advantage slip out of hand.

    The biggest problem of us Sinhalese is that we never identify the true Sinhalese leaders. Having a Sinhalese name is not enough. Once we identify such a person we need to back him no matter what. with over 70% Sinhalese Buddhist proportion in the country’s voting population even after winning the war, we could not give the 70% to Mahinda. If he got that mandate he would have done wonders. Even with only 58% he did more than all the post independent leaders combined.

    What a foolish statement ! How about Rahana Wijeweera ? Same thing with Prabhakaran, Hitler, people supported them no matter what. People even commuted suicide for them.

    The correct advice has been given by Buddha. You must find and read it if you are Buddhist.

    Senevirath, the problem with personal gratitude to politicians is it works both ways. People who vote for Ranil, Sambandan, Anura Kumara, Hakim and Bathurdeen are also driven by personal gratefulness. We may ridicule them (as they would ridicule us) but as elections show, there are millions who follow them.

    If people are only grateful for the nation, this problem doesn’t arise. Politicians may get support only to the extent their latest action benefit the nation.

    Indian Tamils were allowed to vote by the 1970-77 SLFP government. Since then CWC and UPF were part of all governments including 5 SLFP administrations. Agree with you that if it were another democratic country, not only UNP but also SLMC, TNA and Chandrika (and Vijaya) would not have survived the treason law.

    We can only be grateful unconditionally to “dead people” and Arahants. They cannot harm anyone.
    All others are capable of harming others.

    We should be grateful for “people of Sri Lanka”, “my country” or an entity which will never harm us but have done so much for us. We have been given free education by so many hardworking people without them even knowing. This may include some කල්ලතොනින් ( I believe you mean estate workers ). Otherwise we become ගුණමකු.

    When those people vote someone out, there is a reason for it. So accept it and find out why or if you think votes were rigged blame on it.

    Politicians shall be even more grateful to people than us.
    They paid for educating them. They voted for them. They paid for their BMWs, 1000 personal security, their endless entertainment when they travel abroad.

    On the other hand it is their DUTY
    1. Not to get anything unlawfully ( not a cent)
    2. To protect people from harm
    3. To work diligently for the betterment of the country.

    Now some of them may be doing their duty better than others. So people vote them again and again to power. It is not because of gratefulness but because it is the intelligent way of voting.

    In Singapore same party (PAP) in power since independence. If you speak to people there 99% of them they will always criticise the government. They criticise so much you may think PAP will lose next election.
    No one votes there feeling “gratitude”. They vote because they are doing a good job and there is no more credible people in numbers in opposition. This is the reality.

    Vehicles worth Rs. 70 million for Maithri

    Rs. 70,600,000 has been spent to buy a BMW car and 12 BMW motorbikes for Presidential Security Division (PSD). The money to buy the car and motorcycles have been obtained on 19th May from a supplementary estimate in addition to allocations to the President from the budget.

    It is interesting to note that the current President had to buy more vehicles in a situation where former President had bought a massive number of vehicles spending Rs. 3870 million and most of the vehicles were available for the current President.

    When President Chandrika Kumaratunga retired from the post in 2005 the value of the vehicle collection for teh President was Rs. 81,000,000. President Mahinda Rajapaksa increased the collection by 48 times to Rs.3870 million wihin 7 years of his tenure.

    President Maithripala Sirisena, who vehemently criticized the waste of money during Rajapaksa regime, spending such a large amount of money at the beginning of his tenure has surprised voters who used their votes agaisnt waste and extravagant living of Rajapaksas.

    Bottom line problem : Sri Lankans do not know their politicos or the Law of the Land. Nor do they really know their neighbor, Tamil Nadu, and the rest of India.
    Sri Lankans have also mixed up Buddhism and other religions with the governing methods. Singapore has avoided all these problems – Lankans must get much more real about life here, Labor needs especially and about actually implementing the Law of the Land.

    Right now, it sounds like ‘bring in the Clowns’ to govern the land, does it not ?
