Kamala Saikia memorial lecture on 9 August

Guwahati: Next journalist Kamala Saikia memorial lecture will be delivered by Itanagar based acclaimed journalist Tongam Rina of Arunachal Times on 9 August  in Jorhat.  The annual lecture, on the occasion of the 25th death anniversary of Saikia-who was killed by Ulfa militants, has been organised by Journalist Kamala Saikia Memorial Trust in association with Jorhat Press Club.

On the same event, Assam’s unique innovator Udhab Bharali will be honoured with Kamala Saikia Memorial National Award. Instituted in the memory of teacher turned freedom fighter turned journalist Saikia, the award carries a citation and a cheque of rupees 1 lakh, informed the officer-bearers of the trust namely Deepjyoti Goswami, Sanjib Kumar Phukan, Bhupen Bhattacharya and Nava Thakuria.
