SRI LANKA NEEDS A FREE AND FAIR GENERAL ELECTION

Newspapers and other media in Sri Lanka clearly express that the country needs a free and fair general election with a view to relieve from the current political crisis and more than three forth of the population also show that a free and fair general election is the solution and there are no alternatives for an election. The other significant opinion of the population is that the country should not align with the opinion of the foreign forces, which should allow the country to deal with own problems without unnecessary influences or forces. The reality is that constitutional authority regarding the appointment of a prime minister and ministers to the cabinet is the authority of the president and the speaker of the parliament has no authority to undermine the power of the president in terms of the constitution.
The behaviour of the speaker of the parliament clearly displayed that he has violated his role disrespecting the order and the rule of the house. The speaker has clearly violated his role and responsibilities. It also seems that he has aligned with the outside forces that is contrary to the wishes of the people of the country. What is the use of this type of a speaker? If this type of behaviour is continuing the problem will be continued. The best option to the speaker is to resign from the position and allow to appoint an impartial speaker to the parliament until a general election be completed and appoint a new government and a speaker.
The problem began in 2015 and the 19th amendment to the constitution created problems complicating the constitution and the amendment supported to create an instability in the country. Now it is quite clear that after a fresh fair and free election, new government must abolish the 19th amendment and thoroughly review the constitution and amend with strong clauses. Sri Lanka has experts for this purpose and they need to listen to the community. Sri Lanka doesn’t need to listen outside forces, which have different interests than the interests of the people of the country.
The current crisis in the country clearly indicated that the executive presidency is highly advantageous to the country where needs a strong command than a collective authority. The president must have a council of advisors with a variety of ideology. The president needs to consider such advised but not strongly obliged to follow them but always need to consider the national interest than any other.

Now everybody can see the importance of the executive presidency. Power given to the parliament won’t work because these shit power hungry money hungry dirty political clans shuffling heads to grab power by hook or crook. This is ugly and a shameful act by these politicians. President should lead and have the full authority to form a government and dissolve a government whether majority or otherwise. We won the war because president had the full powers to make it or break it but if by any chance parliament had that power on that occasion these dirty politicians on both sides who were supporting LTTE terrorists won’t allow to finish off instead they will argue and argue for day’s and years and give everything they (terrorists) demand. Our politicians can be brought for easy payment nowadays so cheap these scoundrels. I am very much shamed about my country and fully fed up of the situation. To get out of this mess only thing the president has to do to call for election. Let the people decide. Before more shame fall on the country do it quickly. Shuffling heads here and there and showing the majority is shameful and disgusting. Let’s unite at this hour and help to save motherland from all enemies including western hypocrites and the Indian parasites. This is our land,stay strong and vigil to overcome this terrible situation. Those treacherous, evil UNP/TNA/JVP gang and the undemocratic speaker spineless Karu should be condemned and rejected by all peace loving citizens of this land and call in one voice to have a general election. Saving motherland should be the priority of every citizen.

Having an election is the ONLY WAY SL can get out of this mess.
Longer they wait, more chaos and mayhem its going to create, like what happened yesterday against the partisan Speaker.
If they want REAL democracy, let the people decide who they want to lead the country next.
Not by this legislative BS and fake democracy preached by the West, and their lap dogs – Ranil & Karu, who invited their White Masters’ diplomats to watch the circus in the parliament.

President Maithripala Sirisena SHOULD NOT ACCEPT Ranil Wikunanasinghe as the PM, IRRESPECTIVE of whether HE HAS or HAS NOT a MAJORITY of MPs in a Parliament ELECTED 3 1/2 years ago!
Those MPs elected 3 1/2 years ago DO NOT HAVE the SUPPORT of the VOTING CITIZENS NOW, and CANNOT GET ELECTED NOW. They DO NOT REPRESENT the VOTERS NOW!
If the Yamapalanaya had allowed Local & Provincial Govt ELECTIONS to be held ON TIME, they would KNOW THAT by NOW.
By NOT HOLDING ELECTIONS ON TIME in SIX PROVINCES, now WITHOUT ELECTED PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENTS, they DENIED DEMOCRACY to the VOTING CITIZENS of Sri Lanka.
