74 filling stations allocated to supply fuel for health workers.

Arrangements are being to dispense fuel volumes to vehicles of health sector employees every Friday at 74 filling stations island-wide, Minister of Health Keheliya Rambukwella says.

In a tweet, the lawmaker posted the list of filling stations allocated for the employees of the health sector to obtain fuel.

Earlier this month, the representatives of the Health Ministry, with the participation of all stakeholders, held a meeting with the Power & Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekara, to explore the possibility of ensuring the continuous supply of fuel for the staff members of the health sector during the ongoing crisis situation in the country.

According to Minister Rambukwella, an agreement was reached at the meeting to ensure adequate amounts of fuel for identified filling stations all over the country.

In a letter directed to Minister Wijesekara on the criteria to ensure the continuous supply of fuel for health sector employees recently, the health minister noted that these identified filling stations are dedicated to essential services including the healthcare service staff for a particular day of the week (every Friday).

Accordingly, all healthcare staff members who are seeking this facility should be in possession of proof of identity such as the Department Identity Card, which should be produced at the filling station if necessary.

All heads of health institutions are instructed/authorized to issue a letter/document certifying the individual as a staff member of a particular health institution, which should be produced at the filling station as proof of identify.

The letter should include the following details:
• Name of the Health Institutions
• Name of the Health Staff Member
• Designation
• NIC Number
• Type of Vehicle and Registration Number
