unconfirmed reports indicate that President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has said that he will respect any decision taken in the party leaders’ meeting.

Meanwhile, the Bar Association of Sri Lanka has made a request to the President.

BASL has issued a statement asking the President to consider whether he can continue to fulfil his obligations, powers & duties as President based on the events today & calls on the PM, Speaker, Cabinet MPs to ensure political stability of the nation is secured to avoid any delay in a transition

According to the series of events taking place today (09), the association requests that the President consider whether he can continue to fulfill his responsibilities, powers and duties and to resign along with the Prime Minister, Speaker, Cabinet and MPs in order to secure the political stability of the nation.
