මේ එච්චර ප්‍රසිද්ධ නොවුණු video දෙකේ තියෙනවා, මහින්ද ජනවාරි 8 වැනිදා දිනුවා නම් ගෝටා කරන්න බලාගෙන හිටපු දේ… කොලබ නගරයේ වැදගත් මර්මස්තාන ඉලක්ක කරගෙන ගෝටා දෙන්න හදපු ගේම මොකක්ද කියල මේ video දෙකේ හොදට පෙන්නලා දෙනවා…මේ video ටික බැලුවම මාර දුකක් වගේම මේ රට නැති කරන්න චන්දෙ දුන්න පාහරයන් ගැන පුදුම තරහක් එන්නේ… ගෝටා කොලබ නගරය දියුණු කරන්න මේ තරම් plan ගහල තිබුනා කියල මන් දැනගෙන හිටියේ නෑ…
යුද්ධය ඉවර කරන්න යොදවපු සුපිරි මොලය, මේ රට සංවර්ධනයට යොදා ගන්න මහින්ද යොදවපු එක , මොන තරම් බුද්ධිමත් ද? ඒ මේ රට ගැන තව අවුරුදු 10 ක් ඉස්සරහට හිතල කරපු සුපිරි සැලැස්මක්…..
නමුත් අත්මේස් ගලවලා අතට අත දුන්නම කලිසමේ චූ යන හිවල්, හිගන , වහල් මානසිකත්වයක් තියෙන පජාතිකයෝ ටිකක් ඒ ඔක්කොම කණපිට හැරෙව්වා…. ඒ වට්ටපු වැට්ටිල්ල තව අවුරුදු 10 කින් ආයිත් නැගිටිනවා බොරු.. මොකද කවුරු අගමැති උනත් මේ රටේ ජනාධිපති විදිහට තව අවුරුදු 5 ක් යනකන් ඉන්නේ වහලෙක් නිසා… ඒ වහලාගේ අවුරුදු 5 ඉවර උනාට පස්සේ රටට වුන විනාසය හරිගස්සන්න තව අවුරුදු 5 ක් වත් යයි…
2002 දී රනිල් පත් කරන්න චන්දෙ දීලා මේ රටේ බුද්ධි අංශයේ වටිනා ජීවිත අහිමි කරපු ලක්ෂ ගානට මේ පාර තවත් ටිකක් එකතු වෙලා ලක්ෂ 60 ක් හදා ගත්තට, ඒ ලක්ෂ 60 පස්සෙන් එන ඒ මැරුණු මිනිස්සුන්ගේ සාපය නැති වෙන එකක් නෑ…

I love GR but I DISAGREE with this plan for Colombo.
We have to develop GAMPAHA, KALUTARA, GALLE, MATARA. Not Colombo city which has a 75% Muslim and Tamil people are don’t pay their taxes and shows no gratefulness to SL.
This was the mistake GR did after 2010. He turned Colombo into a BEAUTIFUL and CLEAN city. Good. But he should have STOPPED at that and concentrated on SINGHALA majority cities.
He built apartments for shanty people but they voted for Maru Sira.
He built the floating market. But even its traders voted for Maru Sira.
Nice pavements, parks, etc. People enjoyed these and voted for Maru Sira.
Had these been done in SINGHALA MAJORITY CITIES grateful SINGHALA PEOPLE would have voted for MR.
Don’t just do development. Check to see WHO benefits and WHAT their political preferences are. I KNOW this is politics but ultimately it is politics that will decide the FATE of SL. NOT GOOD INTENTIONS. NOT GOOD DEEDS.
e.g. When I was at uni there was a guy who studied advanced research papers beyond graduate level. LOW focus on exam material. I focused on exam materials and graduated with honors. Not that poor guy who may have more knowledge than me. But what’s the use!
Next time don’t do this mistake. Do work to where it MATTERS. Where GRATEFUL people LIVE.
YARL DEVI train extension to Jaffna another disaster. SINGHALA people who used to SIT and travel to Colombo from ANURADHAPURA could not even get into these trains. Tamils from Jaffna enjoyed the train but voted for MS. Singhala grateful people found they were fooled and also voted for MS.
Resources are LIMITED. Use them to MAXIMIZE votes. IF there is EXCESS spend it on ANYTHING thereafter.

Gota was a good military man but not a good policy maker. Instead of Colombo development he should have gone to rural SL and develop rural SL lije blood, agriculture etc.
He got carried away with foolish advice and developed Colombo for the Tamils, Muslims and the rich supplementing what Basil did with dumping concrete and roads on to Jaffna and Vanni.
Only fools who do not see the whole picture get excited by such acts!!!

Is a good plan from Gota.
Idea is to open up as many McDonalds , Kentakies, Pizza Huts as possible. Let the Muslims to there and eat those Hallals , and get fat. Sinhalese have no money. They will be saved.

The idea seems to be to eliminate the pedestrian crossings across Galle road at Collupitiya and Bambalapitiya which are a serious impediment to the smooth flow of traffic. It looks a practical idea to keep the pedestrians away from the road by elivated side walk.

Watching the video clip brought to my mind a stanza from Mangala Sutta. “PATHIRUPA DESA VASOCHA, PUBBETHA KATHA PUNNATHA”., LIVING IN A PLEASANT ENVIRONMENT AND HAVING GOOD DEEDS DONE IN THE PAST (GOOD KARMA). What the average Sri Lankan did not have was good Karma.
No wonder Singapore became the conspiracy city against Sri Lanka’s regime change. If Gota had time to develop the City of Colombo, we would have overtaken all the other cities in South East Asia. With offshore bunkering in Magampura Port combined with Matthala airport, Singapore would die a natural death.
Leaders don’t develop cities and countries only to get the vote. They have a deeper feeling for the citizens and the causes. Monies, connected to so called commissions are too cheap when you are guided by a higher cause. The mega commissions taken by the Rajapakse’s are becoming like the WMDs that Saddam Hussein never had to start with.

It is not JUST for votes. But votes are also important. What votes did YARL DEVI bring? Maru Sira votes!!
Colombo is already the MOST DEVELOPED CITY in the country. NO POINT further developing it. Instead develop GAMPAHA, KALUTARA, GALLE, MATARA to Colombo level. Develop RURAL areas. Give WATER to WELIWERIYA. HELP CHILAW fishermen with better boats. FIX irrigation tanks.
Those are the REAL development work.
Our floating market has now SUNK and no one goes there now!! What a massive waste of money. Instead if he had developed the KURUNEGALA market it is useful.
Instead of night races (soldiers had to lift sand bags) had they done BULLOCK CART races in APRIL NEW YEAR time they would have helped more people enjoy, wasted LESS money and won more hearts and minds. And not had a DISAGREEMENT with Mahanayakas.
Some people cheer when MR, BR, GR make mistakes. WHY? Are they REALLY concerned about the country and GR or they want to cheer them into self harm???? IF you are a GOOD FRIEND you don’t say yes to everything your friend tries to do. You OPPOSE when he is trying to do self harm.

Quoting from an email I received on a different context. Suits this situation very much. This is exactly what happened in Sri Lanka 2010 to 2014. Gotabhaya was a great military strategist but he was unsuited for town planning. May be his expertise in implementation only could have been used.
This happened not just in the economic front but also in justice.

Leaving aside the useless video ( I can produce it in 4 hours), what Gota has done is not restricted to Colombo. We should not forget his post-war work.
1. Various hotels , restaurants run by army were excellent work.
2. Specially in the North, various development work for the forces, well organised activities kept them occupied.
3. He also organised religious activities for forces in North and East for the forces.
4. Cultural activities for the force
Compared to MR, Gota did a lot after war too.
Only issues were those dubious one sided contracts signed for Anavt Garde at the cost of the country. How can one sign to pay 1 man 2/3 GDP of the country if contract is breached ? I can’t believe he organised these contracts.

I agree wth Kumari. There are a number of envious parties with ill will, inside the country and outside, opposed to savvy, independent and good self esteem development in Sri Lanka.
Gota did us proud and we are grateful to him for his efforts during the war and after the war.
The MR govt did not sell out the country. We are grateful to them !
Will the Yahap via the UNP sell the country to India and other foreign countries ? The new Budget has been passed. Please study it carefully.

I was talking about this VIDEO.
IF this was all he had planned for after January 2015 then MOST SLs didn’t miss much.
(He has done many other GOOD things elsewhere and I LOVE them.)
For the person who made the video, next time make a video TARGETING people in rural SL and other towns and cities. Already there is a belief “kolampata kiri gammata keri” in SL. NEVER pander into it.
