නලින් ද සිල්වා
මෙරට දැන් කලක සිට ජාතිවාදය යන චචනය නිතර භාවිතා කෙරෙයි. බොහෝ පඬියො ද ඊනියා රාජ්‍ය නොවන ගැත්තෝ ද බටහිරයෝ ද සිංහල ජාතිවාදයක්, සිංහල අධිපතිවාදයක්, සිංහල බෞද්ධ ආධිපත්‍යයක් ආදී වශයෙන් වචන හරඹයක යෙදෙති. ඔවුහු එමගින් සිංහල බෞද්ධයනට චෝදනා කරති. ඔවුන්ට අනුව සියල්ලට මුල සිංහල ජාතිවාදය ය. සිංහල බෞද්ධ අධිපතිවාදය ය.
අපිදු කලක සිට දෙමළ ජාතිවාදය යන්න යොදා ගනිමු. දෙමළ ජාතිවාදය යන්න තවමත් රටේ ජනමාධ්‍යවල නිතර යොදා ගැනෙන්නක් නො වේ. ජනමාධ්‍ය පඬියෝ බොහෝ දෙනෙක් දෙමළ ජාතිවාදයක් ඇතැයි විශ්වාස නො කරති. මෙරට ඇත්තේ සිංහල ජාතිවාදයක් ද නැත්නම් දෙමළ ජාතිවාදයක් හා ඒ ආශ්‍රිත මුස්ලිම් ආගම්වාදයක් ද?
ජාතිවාදය යනු කුමක් දැයි ඇසූ කල බොහෝ පඬියෝ සුපුරුදු පරිදි එහි නිර්වචන බටහිර පඬියන්ගෙන් උපුටා දක්වති. අපට ඒ සම්බන්ධයෙන් පමණක් නොව බොහෝ කරුණු සම්බන්ධයෙන් බටහිරයන්ගෙන් ඉගෙනීමට ඇත්තේ කුමක් ද? බටහිරයන්ට වඩා ජාතිවාදීන් ලොවේ කිසි දිනෙක කිසි තැනෙක ජීවත් වී නැත. ඇතැමුනට අනුව ජාතිවාදය යනු තම ජාතිය හෝ ජනවර්ගය හෝ ආගම හෝ සංස්කෘතිය හෝ දැනුම හෝ වෙනත් දෙයක් අනෙක් එවැනි දේට වඩා උසස් ලෙස සැලකීම ය. ඒ අර්ථයෙන් නම් බටහිරයෝ අංක එකේ ජාතිවාදියෝ ය. බටහිර විද්‍යාව අනෙක් සියළු දැනුම්වලට වඩා උසස් යැයි ඔවුන් සෙසු ලෝකයාට ද ඒත්තු ගන්වා ඇත. අපි අපේ ද ඊනියා උසස් බව පෙන්වීමට බුදුදහම විද්‍යාත්මක කරමු.
දැනුම් පද්ධතියක් නොවන බුදුදහම ලෝකයේ ඇති නොයෙකුත් දැනුම් පද්ධතීන්ට වඩා උසස් හෝ ඒ හා සම හෝ යැයි පෙන්වීමේ අවශ්‍යතාවක් පැන නො නගියි. නිවන් අවබෝධය තෙක් අපට දැනුමක් අවශ්‍ය ය. එහෙත් නිවන් අවබෝධයෙහි දී දැනුමෙන් ද ඉවත් වෙමු. දැනුම ඇත්තේ කිනම් සිතක ද ඒ සිත නිවනෙන් ඈත ය.
ලංකාව සම්බන්ධයෙන් ගත්කල ජාතිවාදය තීරණය වන්නේ ප්‍රධාන වශයෙන් ම එක් කරුණක් මත ය. ඒ සිංහල බෞද්ධ සංස්කෘතියට, සිංහල ඉතිහාසයට, සිංහල බහුතරයට, සිංහල ජාතියට මෙරට විශේෂයක් ඇත් ද යන්න මත ය. ඒ විශේෂත්වයක් ඇතැයි කියන්නෝ පඬියන්ට, එ ජා ප හා සූළු ජනවාර්ගික හා ආගමික දේශපාලන පක්‍ෂවල දේශපාලනඥයන්ට, ඊනියා රාජ්‍ය නොවන ගැත්තන්ට, බටහිරයන්ට, බොහෝ මාක්ස්වාදීන්ට හා ඩිලාන් පෙරේරා වැනි ශ්‍රි ල නි පාක්‍ෂිකයන්ට ආදීන්ට සිංහල ජාතිවාදීහු වෙති. ඔවුන්ට අනුව ලංකාවේ සියළු ප්‍රශ්නවලට මුල සිංහල ජාතිවාදීන් ය. මේ සියල්ලෙහි පදනම බටහිර ලිබරල්වාදය හා මාක්ස්වාද ය ය. පංති පදනමකින් ලෝකය විග්‍රහ කරන මාකාස්වාදයට ජාතිය යනු ව්‍යාජ විඥානයකි. ලිබරල් වාදීන්ට අනුව රටවල් බහු සංස්කෘතික වෙයි. එහි විශේෂ සංස්කෘතියක් තිබිය නො හැකි ය.
එහෙත් කිසිම බටහිර රටක සිංහල බෞද්ධ සංස්කෘතියට ඒ ඒ රටෙහි යූදෙවු ක්‍රිස්තියානි සංස්කෘතියේ යම් ප්‍රභේදයකට ඇති තැන නැත. යුදෙවු ක්‍රිස්තියානි සංස්කෘතිය ඒ රටවල විශේෂ සංස්කෘතියක් පමණක් නොව අධිපතිවාදී සංස්කෘතිය ද වෙයි. එහෙත් බටහිර දැනුම නිර්මාණය කරන බුද්ධිමත්තු ඒ බව වසං කරති. ඔවුහු බටහිර විද්‍යාව, දැනුම රාජ්‍යය ආදී දේ ආගමෙන් වෙන් වී ඇති බවට පට්ටපල් බොරුවක් ගොතති. බටහිර රටවල අධිපතිවාදී සංස්කෘතියක් තිබිය දී ඔවුහු සිංහල බෞද්ධ සංස්කෘතියට මෙරට ආධිපත්‍යයක් නොව විශේෂත්වයක් නොදීමට කටයුතු කරති.
අපි සිංහල බෞද්ධ සංස්කෘතියට ආදියට මෙරට හිමි විශේෂත්වය දීමට විරුද්ධවන්නන් දෙමළ ජාතිවාදීන් ලෙස හඳුන්වමු. අනෙක් රටවල නැති ආකාරයේ බහු සංස්කෘතික බහුබූතයක් මෙරට නැතැයි ද අපි කියමු.

“අපි සිංහල බෞද්ධ සංස්කෘතියට ආදියට මෙරට හිමි විශේෂත්වය දීමට විරුද්ධවන්නන් දෙමළ ජාතිවාදීන් ලෙස හඳුන්වමු. අනෙක් රටවල නැති ආකාරයේ බහු සංස්කෘතික බහුබූතයක් මෙරට නැතැයි ද අපි කියමු. “
බහු සංස්කෘතික බහුබූතයක් මෙරට ඉදිරිපත්කොට ජෝගි නටා බුද්ධාගම විනාශ කරනවිට ඔබ මෙවැනි ලිවුම් ලිවුවානම් හොඳයි. ඒත් තවමත් පමා නැත. මේවා සුදුසු මුග්ධ්‍යින්ට යවන්න, දැන්වත් හැදෙන්න කියා.

We have come to a point that some do not call them selves Sinhala Buddhists. They do not wish to separate them selves as the majority indeginious people of Sri Lanka.
But it is the Sinhala Buddhists that have contributed to what Sri Lanka is today. It is the Sinhala governments that have done its best (specially the previous government of Mahinda Rajapakse) to modernise the North and East giving them more than for the South.
Tamils have contributed nothing for the country Sri Lanka though they constantly demand devolution of political power and police and land power etc. Have they the Tamils or the Tamils of the diaspora built a road a school, housing complex , a hospital ? It is only the expatriate Sinhalese who donate wheels, hospital equipment, etc.
Muslims are worst, they only take from the Sinhala without contributing any thing for the developmenbnt of the country or for the unity of the communities. They clear forests without permission in Vilpattu or Digavapi to settle down their people and put up their miserable Mosques without thinking of the welfare of other communities.
It is time that Sinhala rise up for their rights to have Sinhala as the Official language with English as the secondary language and sing the National anthem in Sinhala and remove the green and orange stripes from the National flag. The Sinhala Buddhists have to assert their rights without fear of being called racists , chauvinist or what not.

Charles, you have expressed the sentiments of majority Singhalese. We are becoming a minority in our own country. It was poor Singhalese Buddhist peasants who gave their lives in thousands including their wealth in fighting the invaders. We haven’t heard any Tamils did that. Muslims supported us for money or other benefits as they were hired to fight alongside our forefathers.
Today, it is the Tamils (Tamils means Jaffa Tamils) who are making the biggest noise with their absolutely unreasonable demands. Why should politicians look in to their demands alone??? How about millions of our own Singhalese Buddhist peasants in far away villages live even without clean water to drink, let alone walking miles and miles to reach a school to study???
It is time our Singhalese Buddhist politicians wake up fro their slumber and look in to this issue. Out of the current figures, my belief is only Gotabhaya can do this. He was the only one who to an interest in settling the Kuragala issue at the time. People should understand this and do everything possible to bring him to power.
