The Tamil Muslim National Alliance has confirmed that it would support Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna’s candidate Gotabaya Rajapaksa at the forthcoming Presidential Election.

Holding a media briefing yesterday (21), the chairman of the Alliance, Attorney-at-Law Abdul Raheem stated that Opposition Leader Mahinda Rajapaksa promised to ensure the safety of Tamil and Muslim communities in the country.

He said concerns existed with regard to the security of Muslims on the occasion that Gotabaya Rajapaksa wins the Presidential Election, however, the discussion held with the former President had put the concerns to rest.

Responding to a question raised by a media person on removing military forces from the North and the East and merging the two provinces, Mr. Raheem said they are against the idea of merging, adding that the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna has promised to develop the North and the East.

Addressing the media briefing, Moulvi Rizwan Saudi said, they helped ‘Yahapalana’ government to come to power with the hopes that the security of the Muslims would be ensured. However, the government has failed to do that, he said, adding that behind Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe are India and the US forces. The political policy of Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Mahinda Rajapaksa is to develop the country, he said further.

Meanwhile, nine independent members of Kalmunai Municipal Council have met with Opposition Leader Mahinda Rajapaksa to confirm their support for SLPP’s presidential candidate Gotabaya Rajapaksa.

    They have no votes.

Former army commander General Mahesh Senanayake has levelled a very serious allegation. It must be investigated. If true, culprits must be punished. If not true, he should be sued for damages for telling untruths.

In an interview he alleged with total responsibility that anti-Muslim racism was spread by a centre supportive of the candidate who was unvailed in August. Mysteriously all anti-Muslim hate propaganda ceased with it (which is a fact)! It is a fact that all anti-Muslim racist propaganda stopped since August and BBS, RB and MB are now totally silent not because all discrimination, etc. against Sinhalese have stopped but because their action can now harm their hidden candidate. They didn’t even raise a whisper about the incident in Gurukanda.

If Mahesh is telling the truth, this is an extremely serious threat to national security.

If he is telling a lie, he must be investigated and punished as the matter is very serious.

Please look at the matter from the point of view of the nation and poltiical cloured glass.

Mahesh is ill and in hospital. BBS was there at Gurukanda.

It is a matter of proving his allegations as TRUE with factual evidence. Didn’t I feared this is the case and hinted here months ago ? Sirisena too is a master planner.

One court case in the USA now dismissed, it is the time to prove that head of the government ( if selected) is not a foreign citizen to ALL VOTERS.

All patriotic voters should NEVER VOTE a foreign citizen, especially US citizen who has given an oath to 100% align with USA( not with the country of dual citizenship obtained later ).

    @Randeniyage

People were peacefully doing the cremation there anyway without them.

A foreign citizen with local citizenship can contest the election. There is no restriction. A foreign citizen cannot become a MP or president.

If Gota remains an American citizen (and a SL citizen) he cannot legally assume office. The court case decided Gota is a Sri Lankan citizen and was duly granted SL citizenship in 2005. That’s all. No one can stop a foreign citizen from contesting an election if they are also a SL citizen.

If Gota is still an American citizen there are a few outcomes.

    1. Hold on to his post illegally.

    2. Suffer removal by court. The army cannot violate the Constitution despite personal views of the current army commander. In that case Ranil will become the president as he has most support of parliament. Speaker if not for 19A.

Some say this is Ranil’s plan to bust both Sajith and Gota. If Sajith loses, Ranil will be the uncontested UNP leader for another term and the UNP will remain anti-SL.

    Agree about Sirisena.
