2022 වර්ෂයේ අය වැය සම්පාදනය කිරීම සදහා ග්‍රාමීය මට්ටමේ සංවර්ධන යෝජනා ලබා ගැනීම වෙනුවෙන් සාකච්ඡා මාලාවක් තරුණ හා ක්‍රීඩා, සංවර්ධන සම්බන්ධීකරණ හා අධීක්ෂණ අමාත්‍ය සහ ඩිජිටල් තාක්ෂණ හා ව්‍යවසාය සංවර්ධන රාජ්‍ය අමාත්‍ය නාමල් රාජපක්ෂ මහතාගේ ප්‍රධානත්වයෙන් ඊයේ (25) දින පැවැත්විණි.

මාතර දිස්ත්‍රික්කයේ වැලිගම, මාතර, දෙවිනුවර, හක්මන යන ඡන්ද බල ප්‍රදේශ ආවරණය වන පරිදි ස්ථාන කිහිපයකදී මෙම සාකච්ඡා සංවිධානය කර තිබූ අතර, මේ සදහා ප්‍රදේශයේ මහා සංඝරත්නය, පළාත් පාලන මන්ත්‍රීවරුන්, තරුණ සංවිධාන, ස්වේච්ඡා සංවිධාන ගණනාවක නියෝජිතයින් සහභාගී වී සිටියහ.

2022 සදහා ප්‍රතිපාදන වෙන් කිරීමේදී සංවර්ධනයේ ප්‍රතිලාභ කඩිනමින් මහජනතාව වෙත ලබා දීම උදෙසා ප්‍රාදේශීය සංවර්ධනය කෙරෙහි ප්‍රමුඛ අවධානයක් යොමු කිරීමට රජය තීරණය කර ඇති බව මෙම සාකච්ඡාවේදී ප්‍රකාශ විය.

වත්මන් රජය විසින් මෙවර ඉදිරිපත් කරන 2022 වර්ෂයට අදාල අය වැය යෝජනාවලිය වඩාත් සුවිශේෂී වන්නේ ග්‍රාමීය මට්ටමින් සිදු කළ යුතු සංවර්ධන යෝජනා සදහා ප්‍රමුඛත්වය දී රට තුළ නව ව්‍යවසායකයින් බිහි කිරීම වෙනුවෙන් වැඩි මුදල් ප්‍රතිපාදන ප්‍රමාණයක් වෙන් කිරීම බව අමාත්‍යවරයා සදහන් කළේය.

ඒ අනුව ග්‍රාමීය ආර්ථිකය නගා සිටුවා ජාතික ආර්ථිකයට ශක්තියක් ලබා දීමට රට තුළ දේශීය ව්‍යවසායකයින් බිහි කර නිෂ්පාදන ආර්ථිකයක් හරහා රට  ස්වයංපෝෂිත කිරීමේ බලාපොරොත්තුව ඇතිව මුදල් අමාත්‍ය බැසිල් රාජපක්ෂ මහතා  නව රජයේ 2022 වර්ෂයට අදාල අය වැය වාර්තාව ඉදිරිපත් කිරීමට නියමිත බව මෙහිදී ප්‍රාදේශීය නියෝජිතයින් දැනුවත් කළේය.

නව රජය පත්වී ඉතා කෙටි කලකින් කොවිඩී 19 දරුණු ගෝලීය වසංගතයට මුහුණ දුන් අතර, එහි ව්‍යාප්තිය වැලැක්වීම සදහා ප්‍රමුඛත්වය ලබාදෙමින් සෞඛ්‍ය අංශ සමග සහයෝගයෙන් වැඩ කරන කළ බවත්,

ලෝකයේ එන්නත්කරණය අතින් ප්‍රමුඛ ස්ථානයක රැදෙමින් සාර්තක ලෙස රට නැවත සාමාන්‍යකරණය දක්වා ගෙන ඒමට වර්තමාන රජයට හැකි වූ බවත් නාමල් රාජපක්ෂ මහතා පෙන්වා දෙන ලදි.

කොවීඩ් වසංගත තත්ත්වය හමුවේ වුවද රටේ සංවර්ධන ව්‍යාපෘති නොනවත්වා ඉදිරියට කරගෙන ආ රජය 2022 වසරේදී ග්‍රාමීය සංවර්ධනය මෙන්ම මහා පරිමාණ ව්‍යාපෘති රැසක් සමග සුවිශාල සංවර්ධන ක්‍රියාන්විතයක් ආරම්භ කිරීමට සැළසුම් සකස් කර ඇති බව මෙම සාකච්ඡාව අතරතුර අමාත්‍යවරයා ප්‍රකාශ කළේය.

කොරෝනා වසංගතයත් සමග අඩාලව ඇති ග්‍රාමීය සංවර්ධනය නැවත නගා සිටුවීමට පළාත් පාලන ආයතන නියෝජනය කරන මහජන නියෝජිතයින් සදහා තමන්ගේ කොට්ඨාශයේ සංවර්ධන කටයුතු වෙනුවෙන් මෙවර අය වැයෙන් ලක්ෂ 40 ක මුදලක් ලබා දීමට කටයුතු කර ඇති බවත්,

මීට අමතරව දිවයින පුරා ග්‍රාම සේවා වසම් සියල්ලටම ලක්ෂ 30 බැගින් ප්‍රතිපාදන හිමි වන අතර එම ප්‍රතිපාදන ගමේ පොදු කටයුතු සංවර්ධනය හා ව්‍යාවසායකයින් නගා සිටුවීමට ප්‍රමුඛත්වය ලැබෙන ලෙස යෝජනා ඉරිදිරිපත් කරන ලෙස ද මෙම සාකච්ඡාවේදී අමාත්‍යවරයා ප්‍රකාශ කරන ලදි.

ප්‍රාදේශීය සම්බන්ධීකරණ කමිටු සභාපතිවරයෙකු හට තමන්ගේ මැතිවරණ බල ප්‍රදේශයේ සංවර්ධන කටයුතු සදහා ලක්ෂ 1000 ක මුදලක්ද, ප්‍රාදේශීය සම්බන්ධීකරණ කමිටු උප සභාපතිවරයෙකු හට රුපියල් ලක්ෂ 200 ක මුදලක්ද වෙන් වන බව මෙහිදී ප්‍රකාශ විය.

ඒ අනුව කොවිඩ් 19 වසංගතය තුළින් පැන නැගුණු කෙටි කාලීන අභියෝග සදහා විසදුම් සෙවීම මෙන්ම ආර්ථික වර්ධනය සදහා ප්‍රාදේශීයව පවතින බාධාවන්ට විසදුම් ලබා දීමට මෙමගින් අපේක්ෂා කරන බවත්,

දැඩි මූල්‍ය විනයක් සහිත ක්‍රමවත් ආර්ථික කළමනාකරණයක් තුළ සියලු අභියෝග ජය ගැනීම ඒකායන අධිෂ්ඨානය කරගනිමින් සංවර්ධන වැඩසටහන් සදහා ප්‍රතිපාදන වෙන් කොට ඒවා අඛණ්ඩව පවත්වාගෙන යාම රජයේ බලාපොරොත්තුව බවත්,

ඒ අනුව පහත සදහන් ක්ෂේත්‍ර ඔස්සේ ග්‍රාම නිළධාරී වසම්, ප්‍රාදේශීය ලේකම් කොට්ඨාස සහ දිස්ත්‍රික් මට්ටමින් සංවර්ධන ව්‍යාපෘති සිදු කිරීමට බලාපොරොත්තු වන බවත් අය වැය යෝජනා ලබා දීමේ සාකච්ඡාවේදී ප්‍රාදේශීය දේශපාලන අධිකාරිය දැනුවත් කරන ලදි.

ජීවනෝපාය සංවර්ධනයට 40% ක් ද, පොදු යටිතල පහසුකම් සංවර්ධනයට 40% ක් ද, පරිසර හා තිරසර සංවර්ධනටය 10% ක් ද, සමාජ සුභසාධන හා සමාජ සංවර්ධනය වෙනුවෙන් 10% ක් ද ලෙසින් මෙවර අය වැයෙන් වෙන් වන මුදල් ප්‍රතිපාදන යෙදවීමට කටයුතු සැළසුම් කර ඇති අතර,

මෙවර අය වැයෙන් වෙන් වන මුදල් ප්‍රතිපාදන යන්ත්‍ර සූත්‍ර/ උපකරණ බෙදා දීම සදහා වැය නොකර, පුළුල් ලෙස අධ්‍යනය කර සකස් කරන ලද ජීවනෝපාය ව්‍යාපෘති යෝජනා සදහා ලබා දීමට කටයුතු කරන ලෙස මෙම සාකච්ඡාවට එක් වූ ග්‍රාමීය නියෝජිතයින්ට අමාත්‍යවරයා පෙන්වා දෙන ලදි.

මෙහිදී අදහස් දැක්වූ නාමල් රාජපක්ෂ අමාත්‍යවරයා මෙසේද පැවසීය.

පක්ෂයක් විදියට ඉතිහාසයේ කෙටිම කාලයක් තුළ ලබා ගත හැකි සියලුම ජයග්‍රහණ ශ්‍රී ලංකා පොදුජන පෙරමුණ ලබා ගත්තා.

සමූපකාර ඡන්දයේ සිට තුනෙන් දෙකක පාර්ලිමේන්තු බලයක් සමග රටේ විධායක ජනාධිපති දක්වා බලයක් ජනතාව අපිට ලබා දී තිබෙනවා.

ඒ ජනතා විස්වාශය රකින්න අපි බැදී සිටිනවා. බිද වැටුණු ආර්ථිකය නගා සිටුවා ජනතාවට වූ පොරොන්දු ඉටු කරලා තමයි අපි ඊලග මැතිවරණයට යන්නේ. එම සංවර්ධන ඉලක්ක ජය ගැනීමට අපිට හොද සැළැස්මක් තිබෙනවා.

රාජ්‍ය අමාත්‍යාංශ 10 ක් ඒකාබද්ධ වෙලා ග්‍රාමීය ආර්ථිකය ගොඩ නගන්න සුවිශාල කාර්යයක් සිදු කරනවා. ව්‍යාපෘති වාර්තා සකස් කර ඒ ඒ ග්‍රාම නිළධාරී කොට්ඨාශ වල එම වැඩසටහන් ක්‍රියාත්මක කර අධීක්ෂණ කටයුතු සිදු කරගනෙ යනවා.

ව්‍යාපාර ආරම්භ කිරීම සදහා ලක්ෂ 05 ක් අවශ්‍යනම් එම මුදලද, ලක්ෂ 15 ක් අවශ්‍යනම් එම මුදලද අපි ලබා දෙන්න කටයුතු සූදානම් කර තිබෙන්නේ. වඩා හොද ව්‍යාවසායකයෙක් බිහි කරන්න අවශ්‍ය මුල්‍යමය ශක්තිය අඩුවක් නොමැතිව අපි ලබා දෙන්න සූදානම්.

මෙම වැඩපිලිවෙල හරහා ග්‍රාමීයව ව්‍යවසායකයින් බිහි වෙනවා වගේම ජාතික ආර්ථිකයට ද එය ශක්තියක් වෙනවා.

එක් ග්‍රාමසේවා කොට්ඨාශයකට එක් ව්‍යවසායකයෙක් බිහි වුණොත් අලුතින් ව්‍යවසායකයින් 14,000 ක්  රට තුල බිහි වෙනවා. ඔවුන් හරහා රැකියා අවස්ථා බොහෝමයක් නිර්මාණය වෙනවා.

මේ කටයුතු සාර්ථක කර ගැනීම සදහා මෙවර අය වැයෙන් ලැබෙන ප්‍රතිලාභවලින් 40% ක් ජීවන උපාය සංවර්ධන වැඩවලට යොදවන්න උපදෙස් ලැබී තිබෙනවා.

ගමේ හා නගරයේ මහා පරිමාණ සංවර්ධන ව්‍යාපෘති මේ ලැබෙන ප්‍රතිලාභ වලට අමතරව ඒ ඒ අමාත්‍යාංශ හරහා සිදු කරනවා. 

දැනටමත් රටේ  මාර්ග පද්ධතිය කිලෝමීටර් ලක්ෂයක් කාපට් කිරීමේ වැඩසටහන යටතේ සිදු වෙනවා. එයින් දැනට වැඩ ආරම්භ කරලා තිබෙන්නේ 20% යි. ඉතුරු 80% වැඩ ආරම්භ කරද්දි ඔබේ ප්‍රදේශයේ මාර්ග ටිකත් කාපට් වේවි. අය වැය හරහා ලබා දෙන ප්‍රතිපාදන ගමේ පාරවල් හදන්න යොදවන්න අවශ්‍යය නැහැ කියන එක මම පෙන්වලා දුන්නේ.

ඒ වගේම වාරි සෞභාග්‍යා වැඩසටහන යටතේ ගම්වල වැව් ප්‍රතිසංස්කරණය කරනවා. සැමට පානීය ජලය ව්‍යාපෘතිය යටතේ ගම්මානවල පානීය ජල ගැටලුව සදහා විසදුම් ලබා දෙනවා.

ගමට පිටියක් වැඩසටහන ක්‍රියාත්මකයි. ඒ හරහා ගමේ ක්‍රීඩා පිටි සංවර්ධනය වෙනවා. සෞඛ්‍ය අමාත්‍යාංශය හරහා, පළාත් පාලන අමාත්‍යාංශ හරහා අනෙකුත් සංවර්ධන වැඩ සිදු කෙරෙනවා.

මේ වැඩසටහන් සදහා ඔබ නායකත්වය දෙන්න. ගමේ ජනතාව ඔබව විස්වාශ කරලා ඡන්දය ලබා දුන්නා. අපිට සහයෝගය දුන්න, නොදුන්න සියලුම දෙනා මේ කටයුතු සදහා එකතු කර ගන්න.

මෙයට අමතරව ඉදිරි වසර 05 ඇතුලත හදුනාගත් නව සංවර්ධන ව්‍යාපෘති 12 ක් හරහා මාතර දිස්ත්‍රික්කයට රුපියල් බිලියන 200 ට වඩා වැඩි ආයෝජනයක් කරන්න අපි සැළසුම් කරලා තිබෙනවා.

විපක්ෂයට අවශ්‍යය රට වහන්න. ගමේ ජනතාව ජීවත් වෙන්න, දරුවෝ පාසල් යන්න, ජනතාව රැකියා සදහා යන්න අවශ්‍යය නැහැ ඔවුන්ට.

Colombo, Sept 27 (NewsWire) – The Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) has released the list of properties within the Colombo city limits that are reportedly not registered.

Issuing a notice, the CMC said 67,741 properties within Colombo have not been registered and have no ownership.

The CMC informed property owners who have not registered with the Council, that it is mandatory to confirm their ownership by registering in the Assessment Register before the 30th of November 2021.

It further said adhering to the instructions will enable the Council to issue a Notice of Assessment for 2022 with the name of the registered owner.

Colombo, September 26: The Sinhala Weda Uruma Baraya, a collective of Sri Lankan professionals and traditional physicians promoting Deshiya Chikitsa (Sinhala Wedakama) as part of Sri Lankan Ayurveda has commenced a pioneering residential Sinhala Wedakam based COVID19 treatment centre in Sri Lanka. The treatment centre which uses the expertise of an island-wide panel of over 25  wedamahattayas/weda nonas is located within the Heritage Eco Resort which is a 4-star hotel situated down Jayanthi Mawatha, Peliyagoda, Kelaniya. The treatment centre is named the Lak Suwa Sahana Maha Weda Gedera; a place of peace, healing and knowledge of how our ancients lived well and happy.

The treatment centre at this hotel was formally launched under the auspices of the State Minister of Indigenous Medicine, Rural and Ayurveda Hospital Development and Community Health in early September and from the launch day alone registered 5 in-house patients.

This writer has chosen to use the term ‘Doctor’ when referring to the indigenous physicians of Sri Lanka because they were the only ‘doctors’ this nation knew in its collected history of thousands of years until colonization and the modern Western science alongside the Pharmaceutical industry which gave a sense of Western science-based superiority to the term ‘Doctor’ and affixed it with career ambitions.

This pioneering initiative in Sri Lanka – the Lak Suwa Sahana Maha Weda Gedera, has already recorded what could be described as remarkable success with the curing of two COVID19 afflicted persons aged 90 and 95 years respectively. They had been transferred by their family members from the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Allopathy medicine system to the traditional in house system in Kelaniya after the Allopathic system did not work for these patients. One of the close relatives of the 90-year-old patient who took the decision to  opt for Sri Lankan Ayurveda/Sinhala Wedakama is a Western medical (Allopathy) doctor.

Among the board of directors of this initiative is Lasantha Prasad Lokupitiya , a veteran environmentalist and business personality who is part of the Sinhala Weda Uruma Baraya.

The idea to start the residential treatment centre was based on the Sinhala Weda Uruma Baraya contemplating about the calamity of COVID19 patients being sent to Western medicine treating government hospitals, facing serious bed shortages and other sanitary issues juxtaposed by the counter calamity of private Western medicine treating hospitals charging exorbitant rates per day,” explains Lasantha Lokupitiya.

He points out that what the Sinhala Weda Uruma Baraya has initiated is a health and relaxation-based endeavor deeply rooted in the ancient medicinal culture of Sri Lanka and located in the heart of the scenic and historic city of Kelaniya.

This is a 4 star hotel which has all comforts and the full rate we are charging per day is inclusive of a patient-specific traditional diet based on recommendations by the wedamahattayas/weda nonas on our Sri Lankan Ayurveda medical panel.  The charges do not exceed Rs. 10,000 per day which includes all per patient specialized traditional medicine treatment costs,’ says Lokupitiya. He points out that a totally free facility which will be akin to a government hospital ward currently followed for COVID will be also provided soon.

In the current facility those who have contracted the COVID virus will be treated not as patients but as guests receiving an opportunity to rejuvenate themselves and rid themselves of all ailments, not just this particular virus.”

He explains that traditional physicians of Sri Lanka do not mystify this flu mimicking virus and see it as a semprathrishaya that weakens the immune system. He emphasizes that based on so many case studies in the past two years that traditional physicians of Sri Lanka can handle any complication arising out of this disease.

However he adds that those who come to get this residential treatment should be those who have faith in the medical heritage of Sri Lanka and not those who doubt it. If they want Western kind of treatment or technology connected with it they can go to Western medicine based hospitals,” he states.  He emphasizes that the panel of indigenous doctors have proven within the last week that oxygen levels can be raised through traditional methods alone.

In Sinhala Wedakama/Sri Lankan Ayurveda, the opportunity to relieve someone of their ailment is considered a Karmic boon. It is keeping this in mind that we decided to retain only an extremely small profit only for the maintaining of the rooms and hotel. We do not add onto the fee of the traditional physicians or keep profit from it. We have residential Sinhala Wedakam/Sri Lankan Ayurveda doctors (referred to in Sri Lanka as wedamahattayas) and indigenous health experts who visit based on request or health specification,” explains Lokupitiya.

This residential treatment  centre  has overall managers, a General Manager, nurses,  and a Chief Executive Officer (CEO), collectively providing communication mainly in Sinhala but also in English to cater to all citizens of Sri Lanka and even foreigners.  With regard to Sri Lankan citizens, anyone whether they be Sinhala, Tamil, Muslim or Burgher are welcome. The residential facility is a weda gedera and thereby run under Buddhist traditions and culture.

Among the Indigenous medical experts who make up the team of physicians affiliated with the Residential Treatment Centre in Kelaniya include Indigenous Sinhala Wedakam/Sri Lankan Ayurveda Doctor Mrs. Swarnachandra Hulangamuwa having more than 40 years of registered practice  and with wide scale experience of treating patients who are often regarded as incurable. She and her son practices the Hulangamuwa tradition indigenous medical treatments. She and her son Indigenous Doctor Tharanga Hulangamuwa who have treated scores of patients of COVID19 prevention and cure, play a major role at this COVID19 treatment centre.

Among the other Sinhala Wedakam/Lankan Ayurveda experts affiliated with the Lak Suwa Sahana Maha Weda Gedera is Doctor H. M. Jayatilleke, a former Public Health Officer (PHI) who has studied Ayurveda from the Gampaha Wickremarachchi Ayurveda University. He has developed a range of herb based health treatments for different conditions of COVID19. He conducts an Ayurveda school.

Veteran Sri Lankan Ayurveda Doctor DD. Hettiarachchi of Ganemulla who was among the first to research and develop COVID19 specific medications exported to Italy last March to treat primarily Sri Lankan patients is among the expert indigenous medical panel of the  Lak Suwa Sahana Maha Weda Gedera.

Sinhala Wedakam based researcher carrying the lineage family based wedakam knowledge, Doctor Lakman Embuldeniya who has developed the world’s first oral vaccine as in how ancient Ayurveda inspired Western Science doctors is among the expert panel.  He has so far provided his oral vaccine to garment factories and has been approached by eight Western countries for obtaining it for controlling this COVID19 pandemic in those countries.

Also specifically affiliated with the residential medical facility treating COVID19 patients is indigenous medical practitioner Priyantha Dharmawansa Weda Mahattaya linked to the Nilakadi weda paramparawa and practices all the traditional practices of Deshiya Chikitsa (Sri Lankan Ayurveda). He has been practicing for over 30 years the family based inherited medical science of Sinhala Wedakam.

Indigenous medical practitioner and Sri Lankan Ayurveda Doctor. Sampath Kalutharage who has to date treated over 30,000 COVID19 patients and cured them within an average of 3 days is also part of the expert panel. He holds the knowledge of an inherited medical lineage and has trained under veteran Sinhala traditional medical practitioners and holds formal qualifications in Ayurveda from the Malawena Ayurveda Vidyalaya. His mother is a weda nona specializing in ancient Deshiya Chikitsa treatment for diseases of children.  

Indigenous medical practitioner Ayurveda Doctor Seewali Bandara is yet another veteran expert in Sri Lankan Ayurveda treating and advising on the treatment of  patients at the Kelaniya residential facility as required.   He hails from the upcountry based Bandara weda paramparawaa and has received formal qualification of Rasa Wedakama in India. He is often called upon by those in foreign countries for carrying out treatments for ailments Allopathy cannot cure. He has developed specific treatments for COVID19 complications and for acute pneumonia. To date he has cured large number of COVID patients.

Among the female Indigenous/Sri Lankan Ayurveda experts that treat patients at the residential medical facility is Doctor Dulari Mataraarachchi Wedamahathmiya who hails from the Kevitiyagala Jayasinghe wedaparapura from the father’s side and from the Kalumada lineage of indigenous physicians.  Her formal Ayurveda qualification is from the Malawena Ayurveda Waidya Vidyalaya. This wedamahathmiya treats patients for all general ailments and specializes in Kadun Bindun wedakama and the Shara wedakama. Indigenous/Sri Lankan Ayurveda Doctor Mataraarachchi Wedamahathmiya has developed a specific wattoru based syrup for fever that could be used even for COVID like conditions (named as the Shri Wimala Una Peniya and also a peyawa (Jarabanga peyawa) that has so far succeeded in curing many early COVID19 specific symptoms.

All the Sinhala Wedakam/ Sri Lankan Ayurveda   medical experts use the ancient Nadi wedakama to identify diseases. All the doctors practice Buddhist meditation in their personal lives and as part of their medical tradition and are of a calm and kind disposition which is a major pre-requisite in Sinhala Wedakama and Ayurveda in general as authentically practised.

The United Nations Human Rights Commission (UNHRC) holds three sessions per year. Its stated purpose is to discuss what the UNHRC describes as ‘thematic human rights issues and situations that require its attention throughout the year.’ In reality though, this inter-Governmental body behaves no different to the dime a dozen so-called civil societies with its armchair critics that plague us with politicised Human Rights agendas. 

The UNHRC High Commissioner Michelle Bachelet behaves no differently than did her predecessor Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein. Bachelet too does not miss a single session to flay Sri Lanka. Though the UN has an office in Sri Lanka, the High Commissioners’ views strongly reflect those of politically partisan civil societies, rather than of ground realities. 

The UNHRC blinders 

It is not an accidental omission by any means that Bachelet fails to congratulate Sri Lanka for the superb management of the COVID-19 pandemic. When even anti-COVID vaccine producing countries like the US has failed to vaccinate more than a quarter of its population, Sri Lanka’s vaccination drive has inoculated more than half its population. This deserves to be commended. 

Contentiously, the western nations that produce these vaccines are shamelessly hoarding it amongst them. Currently, the vaccine is the only safeguard against the virus. Without it, both lives and economies are at stake. These countries refuse not only to share their vaccines but also to recogniSe the vaccines produced by other countries. India has threatened to retaliate if UK continues to quarantine fully vaccinated Indians with the Covishield, of which the original manufacturer is in the UK.

 According to a statement issued by New Delhi, India provided 4 million doses of Covishield vaccine to the UK at their request as this is also used in the British health systems. Therefore, there is no rational explanation for UK not to recognise Covishield other than as a marketing ploy. The behavior of these western countries is a clear violation of humanity. Yet, this is largely ignored by the UNHRC. Interestingly, UK is leading the self-appointed core group that has taken upon itself to address the human right allegations against Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka is also the first country to install a State of the art facility at the Katunayaka airport to expedite the PCR testing of all arrivals into the country. 

Within the space of three hours, each traveler will receive the test report, clearing him or her from being quarantined. This facility at any given hour can simultaneously test 500 samples. Just before the pandemic broke, Sri Lanka was considered the second safest travel destination. It would not be long before Sri Lanka once again regains this title. 

Whoever wants to be quarantined has the option of choosing a Government facility if they do not wish to pay for the two-week stay at a designated hotel. These facilities provide meals and all other services absolutely free of charge. 

These facilities thus allow all to enjoy the same safeguards irrespective of their economic capacities. Yet, the only point Bachelet and likeminded NGOs focus on is that these are managed by the Military. Strangely, their reaction to any Military involvement is not different to that of a rat snake to kerosene. Factually though, the Military of Sri Lanka is under political authority and trained to manage a wider range of subjects other than the business of toting guns. For instance, Sri Lanka as a country does not deal much with radioactive substances. 

Yet, when the pandemic broke, it was the training the Military had to handle a radioactive calamity that helped design the first quarantine facility. This allowed those Sri Lankans residing in Wuhan to be safely brought back to the country without allowing any room for the virus to spread into the country. Likewise, Sri Lanka is the first country to ban agrochemicals. This was a bold decision. 

There will be many challenges Sri Lanka will have to overcome before this program can be pronounced a success. Yet, in the interest of people and environment this was a vital decision. Many countries have applauded Sri Lanka and pledged their support. These positive steps and clear leadership undoubtedly influenced the UN to place President Gotabaya Rajapaksa as a speaker on the first day itself of its 76th General Assembly. UNHRC on the other hand had largely ignored these developments that are core areas in human rights. 

UNHRC’s new pet concerns 

It appears that the last phase of the war against terrorism is beginning to fade from UNHRC’s memory. Instead, judging by High Commissioner’s opening remarks at the ongoing 48th regular session; the focus is shifting from unsubstantiated war crime allegations to the detention of the Easter Attack perpetrators.

 Bachelet made a special reference in her speech on behalf of Easter Attack suspects in custody, namely Hijaaz Hisbulla and Afnaf Jazeem. However, she failed to note that they are in custody in connection over the Easter Attack that destroyed the lives of a thousand or more lives. Instead she described Hisbulla as a lawyer and Jazeem as a poet. Hisbulla is a human rights lawyer. 

However, it is not his profession that is at odds but his clientele. Everyone deserves due legal representation. However, it is worth noting that the role of a lawyer representing a mafia is not an ordinary one. Furthermore Hisbulla’s detention stems from his connection to a madrasa school that promoted extremism. Jazeem may be a poet but then Hitler was a talented artist. 

It is thus important to understand ones profession or passion need not necessarily reflect ideologies they promote. Bachelet’s demand to either charge or release them is met with silence from the Sri Lankan Catholic community. They in turn are pushing the Government to take firm action against all those culpable for the atrocity. This includes not only those who failed in their duty to prevent the attack but also those who aided and abetted the terrorists. One of the turning points where the Catholic community lost confidence in the Government was when MP Rishard Bathuideen and subsequently his brother were released from the CID custody. 

Even though they were later re-arrested, the Government had been unable to restore the community’s confidence. Interestingly, during PM Mahinda Rajapaksa‘s recent visit to Italy the Tamil Diaspora and SJB supporters with their civil societies gathered to protest over PM’s presence. 

Their main slogan too was of those arrested in connection with the Easter Attack. Interestingly, the protestors did not gain the support of the church. The Italian police too played an active role to ensure that the protestors were kept out of sight and hearing from the Sri Lankan delegation. 

This is a stark difference to their British counterparts. Fundamental Rights of Terrorists More Important than Civilian Safety Bachelet also found fault with the Sri Lankan authorities for their lack in progress in the investigation over the Easter Attack. However, she did not make any reference to the New Zealand authorities’ deliberate concealment of information pertaining to the knife attacker from the Sri Lankan authorities. Instead, they were trying to portray him as a failed asylum seeker. Had they managed to deport him to Sri Lanka, the local authorities would have had no idea of what a danger he posed and would neither have had sufficient evidence to detain him: which would have endangered innocent civilians. 

The New Zealand authorities’ excuse is that they were concerned over the PTA in Sri Lanka. It is contemptuous that the fundamental rights of a terrorist suspect was placed above the safety of civilians – especially that of a friendly Nation. Instead of apologising to Sri Lanka, weeks later the New Zealand authorities granted asylum to a Sri Lankan couple. They were seeking to escape the investigations in Sri Lanka over their connection in funding the Easter Attack bombers. The Catholic community in Sri Lanka continues to maintain their silence over these developments. 

The UNHRC’s silence is unacceptable but also unsurprising. The UNHRC failed to question the West over its failure to prevent their Tamils citizens from getting intimidated by the LTTE’s international network. During the years of the separatist war, through direct and indirect forms of harassment, these citizens were extorted to fund their terrorist activities in Sri Lanka. 

The Office for Missing Persons (OMP) was created as stipulated by the UNHRC Resolution 30/1. Yet, the western Governments have refused to corporate with the OMP to share information of those who had received asylum in those countries. This is despite the fact that a large number of hardcore terrorists escaped to the West. Adele Balasingham who created the LTTE suicide cadres who comprised mostly of young men and women continues to live in UK. Not a single human rights activist has protested about her presence there. 

The Draconian PTA 

Instead Western communities and Bachelet focus their contention on Sri Lanka’s Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA). This act was introduced because of the Tamil separatist terrorist’s horrendous atrocities. Whether it is draconian or not is debatable. Sri Lanka is not the only country to take a tough stand against terrorism. Sri Lanka does not maintain offshore detention centers like the notorious Guantanamo Bay Detention Camp, nor does it hold a single inmate who had threatened Sri Lanka or her interests in any manner. Hence in comparison describing it as draconian is an overstatement. At the same time, whether we can afford a more lenient act is questionable. The pressure is for us to comply with international standards. 

Yet, we need to understand whether these international standards are indeed international or influenced by the west and promoted as international. Perhaps countries in the West can afford to take a more lenient approach to deal with prospective terrorists. After all, countries in our region neither fund nor advocate terrorism in those countries. 

Nor do we interfere in their internal affairs and prevent them from taking appropriate action to safeguard their territory and lives of citizens. Countries like ours on the other hand have the additional challenge to overcome the sympathy and support of the western nations given to those who commit terrorism in our countries. It is hardly a secret that larger and powerful nations directly and/or indirectly promoted terrorism in our country. 

At one point one of our closest neighbors armed, trained and funded terrorism in Sri Lanka. At the same time, just as there are no financial fraud prisoners there is no such thing as PTA prisoners. Therefore, to refer to those taken into custody over terrorist acts cannot be referred to as PTA prisoners, as if somehow the person under detention is a victim of the PTA. To refer to one imprisoned for terrorism as a PTA prisoner is simply to whitewash the severity of the crimes committed by these prisoners. Terrorism is not a clearly defined topic. Especially for onlookers the subject can get blurry as terrorists often disguise their agendas with political, religious or equally emotive stance. 

However, terrorism is a serious business as the victims are always the innocent civilians. It is important to understand that terrorists are those who have renounced all forms of politics and threatens the very framework of democracy. There is absolutely no reasoning with the terrorists. This is unfortunately compounded by geopolitics that seeks to gain from confusion. Therefore, especially interGovernmental bodies as the UNHRC is beholden to support Governments to deal with these dangerous elements than denounce their efforts. 

This makes the need for its officials, specifically the High Commissioner to act on facts than mere allegations, especially from non Government actors who do not hold the lives of civilians in their hands. Most importantly, the UNHRC must maintain a balanced approach and treat all countries with equity. UNHRC must also make an effort to appreciate the constructive steps of a Government. Bringing such positive endeavors into the world’s attention is an important part of the process in promoting human rights. ranasingheshivanthi@gmail.com

The Cabinet of Ministers have decided to remove the price control imposed on rice and import a buffer stock to prevent any possible shortage.

Accordingly, the Gazette notification issued imposing a maximum wholesale and retail price on rice has been cancelled. 

The decision was taken during the Cabinet meeting held this evening (27).

The Cabinet has decided to import up to 100,000 MT of rice to prevent any ‘artificial shortage’ of rice in the market. 

The gazette imposing maximum retail prices on Keeri Samba, White and Red Samba, White and Red Nadu and White and Red Raw Rice was issued on September 02.

It had been issued by order of the Chairman of the Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA), under Section 20(5) of the Consumer Affairs Authority Act, No. 09 of 2003. 

However, the relevant gazette notification has now been cancelled.

Meanwhile Trade Minister Bandula Gunawardena said that the Cabinet also decided to provide necessary funds from the Central Bank for the release of essential food items held up at the Colombo Port.

The Cabinet of Ministers has reportedly not taken any decisions on price revisions of essential items including powdered milk, LP gas, wheat flour and cement.

It had been reported yesterday that the a decision would be taken with regard to the proposed revisions to the prices of several essential items, at the Cabinet meeting today. 

Meanwhile Trade Minister Bandula Gunawardena said that the Cabinet decided to provide necessary funds from the Central Bank for the release of essential food items held up at the Colombo Port.

During the Cost of Living (CoL) Committee meeting held last week, the prime minister had instructed relevant authorities to immediately clear all essential food items currently in the port. 

The Cabinet today also decided to remove the price control imposed on rice and import a buffer stock of up to 100,000 MT of rice to prevent any possible shortage.

Accordingly, the Gazette notification issued imposing a maximum wholesale and retail price on rice has been cancelled, the government said.

The total number people who fell victim to COVID-19 infection in Sri Lanka moved up as 51 more fatalities were confirmed by the Director-General of Health Services on Sunday (Sep. 26).

The new development has pushed the official death toll from the virus outbreak in Sri Lanka to 12,731.

As per the data released by the Department of Government Information, the latest victims include 29 males and 22 females.

As many as 41 deaths were reported among the elderly people aged above 60 years. In addition, 10 individuals aged between 30-59 years have also fallen victim to the virus infection.

The Ministry of Health reports that another 268 persons have tested positive for coronavirus, increasing the daily count of new Covid-19 cases to 983.

This marks the first time that the daily count of Covid-19 cases has dropped below 1,000 since the start of the third wave in the island. 

Meanwhile this also brings the total number of Covid-19 cases registered in Sri Lanka to 514,592.

Over 46,000 patients infected with the virus are currently under medical care at hospitals, treatment centers and under home based care while total recoveries have climbed to 455,344.

The death toll due in Sri Lanka stands at 12,731.

Central Bank Governor, Ajith Nivard Cabraal, who insists that a home-grown solution is the key to address Sri Lanka’s debt issues, says IMF involvement and debt restructuring are not required.

International investment banks have been told that Sri Lanka is willing to settle the debt maturing in January ahead of time, the Central Bank governor revealed.

He further stated that a road map outlining the work the Central Bank and the government will do is expected to be unveiled on October 01.
 
However, former Acting Chief Economist of the World Bank Group, Prof. Shantha Devarajan suggested that Sri Lanka should to the IMF with a programme consensually devised within the country.

Arguments for and against seeking help from the International Monetary Fund in dealing with Sri Lanka’s financial issues were put forth at a webinar on Friday.

A programme with the IMF enables Sri Lanka to get budget support from the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank,” Prof. Devarajan said further.

The support of the IMF to this programme will be a signal of confidence to the international community, he pointed out adding that it is time for Sri Lanka to start debt restructuring.

Meanwhile, former Prime Minister and Leader of the United National Party, Ranil Wickremesinghe warned of an imminent crisis.

He insisted on addressing the gradual decline in foreign exchange reserves in the country.

Speaking further, the former prime minister said a lifting of the current lockdown could be put off to mid-October due to a possible delay in the arrival of diesel supplies purchased for the local market.

For decades, Myanmar has gone through extreme cruelty to the Rohingya. Never cared about the law. The Rohingya problem is not new to Bangladesh. This problem, which started in 1978, became apparent in August 2017. More than 1 million Rohingyas fled to Bangladesh to save their lives when the Myanmar army launched a brutal operation against the Rohingya ethnic group. Bangladesh is seeking the intervention of the United States, the European Union, and the United Nations as well as the regional alliance ASEAN for a lasting and acceptable solution to the Rohingya problem.

Now Bangladesh is facing serious problems for this artificial crisis committed by Myanmar.  Some socio-economic threats are rising in Bangladesh. Bangladesh has given shelter to Rohingyas for humanitarian reasons. But because of this humanity, the country is now at risk. As a result, there is a danger of Rohingyas spreading all over the country, there are also many challenges

The forest is being uprooted, they are cutting down the mountains and destroying them. There are also long-term economic risks Socio-economic and political problems may also be evident, and security risks may increase. Illegal narcotics trade, human trafficking, prostitution, terrorism in Rohingya camps is increasing in camps.

Bangladesh and Myanmar signed an agreement to repatriate the Rohingya to Myanmar within two years in 2017 and 2019 respectively. The Myanmar authority did not take back the Rohingyas according to the agreement. It is true that they don’t want to repatriate Rohingyas in Myanmar. Bangladesh raised the issue in every international forum. Many countries have supported Bangladesh. But Myanmar has no respect the international law and norms. Some mighty powers may have behind the scene.

Bangladesh Prime Minister has raised the issue at UNGA on September 25, 2021 to draw the attention in solving the Rohingya crisis. She has focused specially on the engagement of ASEAN leaders. It is ASEAN which can solve Rohingya refugee problem easily.

As a South Asian country and well trusted friends of Bangladesh, Sri Lanka can easily solve it. Sri Lanka can be mediator in this regard. Sri Lanka has very warm relations with both Myanmar and Bangladesh.

Various countries and international organizations have taken various measures to solve the Rohingya problem. Former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has criticized Myanmar authorities for being lax in repatriating displaced Rohingya. UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres has expressed deep concern over the ongoing Rohingya crisis. Yang Lee, the UN special envoy for human rights in Myanmar, said all major countries in the world had a responsibility to resolve the Rohingya crisis.

In this regard, Sri Lanka can and should play a very significant role to solve the crisis such ways:

1. Sri Lanka can support Bangladesh at every international forum such as at UNGA, regional conference. They can vote in favor of Bangladesh. They can raise the issue in BIMSTEC and SAARC platforms.
2. Sri Lanka can negotiate with Myanmar diplomatically and bilaterally. It has good bilateral relations with Myanmar)
3. Sri Lanka can engage with others regional states to solve the crisis.
4. Sri Lanka’s Buddhist society can play an effective role in this regard. The relations of Theravada Buddhists between Myanmar and Sri Lanka are well established. Sri Lankan Buddhist can do it very easily. Buddhism is more related to establishment of Peace and non-violence. Sri Lankan Buddhists can play a significant role in this regard. They can exercise the path shown by the founder of Buddhism, Gautama Buddha. Buddhist will be recognized as the Avatar of human rights if Buddhist community plays to role in solving Rohingya crisis. It will ensure the regional to some extant World peace and communal harmony.
5. Sri Lanka’s businessmen can engage to some extent. Because stability in the region is very needed for investment.

Why should Sri Lanka Mediate to solve the Problem?

1. This issue is a humanitarian issue. Rohingyas are the son of Land in Rakhine in Myanmar. They have birth rights to reside in Myanmar.
2. It is an issue of Justice. According to Luther king Junior, Nelson Mandela “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” Myanmar authority committed genocide. The perpetrators should be under international legal jurisdiction.
3. It is the issue of region. The whole South Asia and South East Asia may be volatile for this issue. As a South Asian state, Sri Lanka has some responsibilities.
4. Sri Lanka has very good relations with both Myanmar and Bangladesh.
5. Enhancing bilateral relations could contribute to the growth of trade and investment relations with ASEAN and SAARC countries. This will create an opportunity to serve grater regional interest.
6. Re-establishing the Himalayan-South Asian connectivity can occur if political and diplomatic solutions of Bangladesh-Myanmar strained ties can be found.
7. Bangladesh has been supporting Sri Lanka at every international forum. For example, in a vote on March 23, the UN Human Rights Council has been given a mandate to collect and preserve information and evidence of crimes related to Sri Lanka’s civil war. In the resolution brought by Britain on behalf of a group of countries, 22 countries voted in favor of the text, 11 opposed and 14 abstained, including Sri Lanka’s neighbors, India and Nepal, and most Muslim majority countries. Bangladesh, Pakistan and Uzbekistan voted against the motion. Now it is time and duty for Sri Lanka to stand in favor of Bangladesh in her crisis moment.

However, Bangladesh has agreed with Sri Lanka to promote bi-lateral trade, work together in maritime security sector like Colombo Security Conclave. Bangladesh-Myanmar-Sri Lanka can work together in maritime trilateral trade, counter terrorism approach, tourism if the problem between Bangladesh-Myanmar is solved. On the other hands, Bangladesh has contribution to Sri Lanka. Bangladesh is providing $250 million loan assistance to Sri Lanka through currency swap. Sri Lanka sought this loan assistance from Bangladesh. This (assistance) proves that Bangladesh is always sincere in regional cooperation. Bangladesh will lend $250 million to Sri Lanka as part of Bangladesh’s efforts to support the island nation suffering from a foreign exchange crisis. Sri Lanka should consider this. Sri Lanka should do somethings in favor of Bangladesh regarding Rohingya refugee repatriation to Myanmar. Sri Lanka can make Myanmar understand and agree in this regard.

Sri Lanka can play a very significant role in this regard. Sri Lanka can mediate to bolster the strained relations between Bangladesh-Myanmar. Sri Lanka can play to repatriate the Rohingyas in Rakhine in Myanmar. Sri Lanka can easily solve the problem because it has a very good relations with Myanmar.

However, as a well-wisher friend and partner in the development process and trade, Bangladesh can expect cooperation and support of Sri Lanka regarding the repatriation of Rohingya refugees to Myanmar. Bangladesh deserves it. So, Sri Lanka should help, support Bangladesh and mediate in solving the crisis as soon as possible.

ඇමෙරිකාවට අවශ්‍ය ඔවුන්ගෙන් උපකාර බලාපොරුත්තුවෙන් ඇමෙරිකාවට යටත්පහත්ව කටයුතු කරන නොදියුණු රටවල් , ඒ නිසා ටිකක්වත් දියුණුවන්න උත්සාහා කරන නොදියුණු රටක් දුටුවොත් අමෙරිකාව උත්සහාකරන්නේ ඒ රටට උපකාර කරන විලාශයෙන් පැමිණ රට දියුණු කරන පිළිවෙල,  ප්‍රවේශයන්  රටේ දේශපාලන  නායකයින්ට පෙන්වාදීලා ඒ රටවල් නයගොඩක හිරකරලා  සදහට ඇමෙරිකාවේ  යටත්  විජිත” වගේ තියාගන්නවා .

ඔවුන් දෙමල diaspora වත් TNA  එකත් සමග වැඩකරනවාට අනුමානයක් නෑ.

ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ ආර්ථිකය ශක්තිමත් කර ගැනීමේ දී සංචාරක කර්මාන්තයෙන් ඊට ලැබෙන දායකත්වය සුළුපටු නැත. මිලියන තුනකට ආසන්න මෙරට ජනතාවක් සෘජු හා වක්‍ර ලෙස සංචාරක ව්‍යාපාරය හා සම්බන්ධ වී සිටිති. ඔවුන් ජීවනෝපාය ලෙස මෙන්ම ව්‍යාපාරික අරමුණෙන් ඉටු කරන මෙහෙවර රටට විදේශ විනිමය උපයාදීමේ ප්‍රධාන මාර්ගයක් බව කෘතවේදීව සිහිපත් කළ යුතුය.

යුද්ධය නිමාවීමෙන් පසු පැවති  සාමකාමී නිදහස් වාතාවරණය මෙරට සංචාරක ව්‍යාපාරයේ සීග්‍ර දියුණුවට බලපෑ බව නොරහසකි. එහෙත් පසු කාලීනව රට තුළ ඇතිවූ අනාරක්ෂිත සිදුවීම් මෙන්ම තවමත් අවසානයක් නොපෙනෙන කොවිඩ් වසංගතය හේතුවෙන් සංචාරක කර්මාන්තයත් ඒ හා බැඳී සිටින ජනතාවත් දිගු කාලීනව පීඩාවට ලක් විය.

ජනතාව ආරක්ෂා කර ගනිමින් මෙම වසංගතයට මුහුණ දීමේ අභියෝගය භාරගත් රජය එන්නත්කරණය වේගවත් කිරීමට පියවර ගත්තෙමු.

එහි ප්‍රගතිය අනුව බිඳ වැටුණු එම ව්‍යාපාර ක්ෂේත්‍ර නොබෝදිනකින් යළි ගොඩනැගීමට අවශ්‍ය  වටපිටාව නිර්මාණය කිරීමට රජයට හැකිව තිබේ.

සංචාරක අමාත්‍යාංශය ඒ සඳහා අවශ්‍ය පියවර දැනටමත් ක්‍රියාත්මක කරමින් සිටින අතර ශ්‍රීලංකන් ගුවන් සේවය නව ගමනාන්ත සොයා යමින් සංචාරක ක්ෂේත්‍රයේ දියුණුව සඳහා ජාතික ගුවන් සේවයේ කාර්යය භාරය ඉටුකරමින් සිටියි.

Dear Prime Minister,

I write to you after much consideration , to record concerns  about NZ’s decision to grant  refugee status over a week ago, to a Sri Lankan couple, under surveillance of Sri Lankan security authorities, for having possible links to  Islamic terrorism.

This concern comes on the back of a granting of refugee status under similar circumstances to the one who then went on to commit the heinous crimes in the Auckland Super Market on the 5th of September . This was done, believing this man’s claim that he was under  unfair surveillance exercised by the SL authorities  for having links with Tamil Tiger  Terrorism. However subsequent events confirmed that this man’s claims were not truthful and any blame of SL authorities was unjustified. Subsequently when he was placed under surveillance of NZ Police. for Islamic radicalisation , it was found to be very difficult to do so leading to the heinous crimes of 5th of September ’21 referred to above.

These only go, among others to highlight the challenges the Sr Lankan authorities face to keep their people safe from  radicalisation by both of these groups and the untruthful nature of both of these groups.

Part of the reason for this letter is to highlight this to correct in NZ,  a commonly held misbelief,  that the Sri Lankan authorities unfairly treat those with alleged links to terrorism. In facts you may know that , SL has been under the censure of the UNHCR in Geneva for a number of years , based on such allegations, which many of us know to be  baseless. These experiences is further evidence of this.

The other reason for this letter to caution that the NZ authorities should not let their guard down in the exercises of appropriate surveillance of this couple for the appropriate length of time to spare NZ a repeat tragedy and spare the Sri Lankan community in NZ   the ignominy of a similar experience.

Pakistan’s Gwadar port has brought a new dream for the region. This port is not only for Pakistan but also all regional states. Chinese Investment has accelerated the pace of aspirations in this regard. China’s multi billion dollars’ worth project CPEC’ is linked with Gwadar port. This port creates some sort of possibilities and potentials for whole South Asia, South East Asia, Central Asia, Western Asia, Eurasia, East Asia and Middle East.

Bangladesh is a rising South Asian economic miracle and star. The country under the leadership of its PM Sheikh Hasina Wajed is moving forward. There are many industries, companies in Bangladesh. Bangladesh is a biggest exporter of Ready-Made Garments (RMG). Its apparel industry is booming. So, it needs cotton. But the production of cotton in Bangladesh is very low. Therefore, it used to import cotton from western China, Central Asia and Pakistan also. But Bangladesh has no direct connectivity, shipping lines with these states. Bangladesh is using Malacca strait now regarding import and export from China. Singapore port has been using. So, cotton import from Western China is very expensive for Bangladesh.

On the other hands, Bangladesh exports medicines, apparels, frozen foods, Halal foods, potatoes to different countries. Bangladesh export huge number of apparels, potatoes, mangoes to Russia, Central Asian states. On the other hands. It imports cotton, wheats from Russia and Central Asian states. Recently Bangladesh and Russia have agreed to boost up business ties. Bangladesh wants to export mangoes to Russia and import fertilizer from Russia. But the transportation cost by air amongst these states is very high.

Bangladesh can utilize the facilities of Gwadar port. Bangladesh can use Pakistan’s Gwadar port to boost up its trade with Central Asia, Western China and Pakistan. Pakistan’s Gwadar port is going to be regional trade hub in the region. Bangladesh can reach in Western China, Central Asia, Pakistan easily. Pakistan has some regional connectivity with Central Asian States through Afghanistan.

Afghanistan is now viable and politically stagnant. Taliban has formed a government. Regional states including China, Russia are interested to invest for the development of infrastructure and Connectivity of Afghanistan. Bangladesh can also play a role to take part in the development process in Afghanistan.

Therefore, Bangladesh should use Gwadar port to reach in these countries for ensuring its own business interest. There might have some Problems between Bangladesh and Pakistan. But both government of these two states should solve it for their own mutual interest. Pakistan should play an important role in this regard. It has some responsibilities to Bangladesh. It has to be understood and realized. But these problems must be solved diplomatically with bilateral efforts.

Pakistan’s Gwadar port has very strategic significance. China and Pakistan are working together to establish ‘Gwadar port’ a regional hub. Using Gwadar port, Bangladesh can easily access into the markets of Central Asian states, Western part of China, Pakistan, even Afghanistan and Western Asian states.

Bangladesh products can be exported to imported from those regions easily. The raw materials for apparel sector (cotton) can be imported easily from Pakistan and Central Asian states. Such a way, the business relations amongst Bangladesh and other Muslim countries will be strengthened. Bangladesh-Pakistan economic ties will be further bolstered.

There is no shipping line connection between Bangladesh and Pakistan. Bangladesh imports raw materials and products from western China and Central Asian Countries through either Singapore via Malacca strait or by air. So, the cost of transportation and wastage of time is huge for Bangladesh.

Bangladesh can easily overcome this utilizing the Pakistan’s Gwadar port. Bangladesh has already joined China run BRI project in 2017.  Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka all are the members of Chinese BRI project. If Bangladesh’s ports such as Chittagong (Chattogram), Payra, Mangla ports can be connected with Pakistan’s Gwadar port, Karachi port or Port Qassim via Sri Lankan Colombo or Hambantota port, both Bangladesh and Sri Lanka would benefit. Pakistan, Afghanistan and Central Asian states would also benefit.

Whole South East Asia, South Asia, Central Asia and West Asia would benefit. ASEAN and SAARC free trade zones could be created. Bangladesh could benefit ultimately. The dependence of Bangladesh on India will be decreased. A greater regional interest could be confirmed.

Why Bangladesh should utilize Pakistan’s Gwadar port?

1. For ensuring its own business interest.
2. To strengthen the economic and trade ties with Pakistan, Afghanistan, Central Asian States, West Asian countries and Even Russia and China.
3. To decrease its huge dependence on India,
4. For creating the ASEAN and SAARC free trade of zones.
5. This connectivity could unite the ASEAN and SAARC free trade zones.
6. The all states in those regions would benefit mutually in the sector of trade, Counter-terrorism approach from multilateral ties.
7. Enhancing bilateral relations could contribute to the growth of trade and investment relations with ASEAN and BIMSTEC countries. This will create an opportunity to serve grater regional interest.
8. Re-establishing the Himalayan-South Asian connectivity can occur if political and diplomatic solutions of Bangladesh-Pakistan strained ties can be found.
9. Usage of Gwadar port by Bangladesh would ensure the maximum benefit of the people.

So, Bangladesh should use Pakistan’s Gwadar port. There is no alternative for each and every state in the world without be connected with others. There are huge potentials for Bangladesh in this regard. Now it’s time for Bangladesh to utilize this.

මහකිරින්දේගම එල්ලංගා පද්ධතිය සකස් කිරීම යටතේ වැව් 05ක් සංවර්ධනය කිරීමේ කටයුතු සිදු වෙමින් පවතිනවා.මෙම එල්ලංගා පද්ධතිය සංවර්ධනයේදී යම් යම් ගැටලු තිබෙනවා.මහ කිරින්දේගම වැව අසලම පිහිටි  කඳුපාගම වැව සංවර්ධනය නොකර එල්ලංගා පද්ධතියේ කෙලවරේම වැව් කීපයක් මේ වන විට සංවර්ධනය කිරීම  සිදු වෙනවා.මෙම වැව් පද්ධති සිදු කිරීමේ ගැටලු පවතින බවද පැවසීය.

අනතුරුව අදහස් දැක්වූ වාරී මාර්ග ඉංජිනේරුතුමන් වැව් තෝරා ගැනීම සම්බන්ධයෙන් පවතින නිර්නායක කමිටුව හමුවේ පැහැදිලි කර දුන්හ.

අනතුරුව අදහස් දැක්වූ ගොවි මහතෙකු කියා සිටියේ,

ඔය වැව වටේම තිබුනේ කැලෑව, කැලෑව කොටලා වැව් බන්ට් එකට එනකල් දැන් අස්වද්දලා, පුරාවිද්‍යාවෙන් දාපු ගල් දැන් නෑ, සේරම ගල් පෙරලලා, ඩෝසර් කරලා කුඹුරු අස්වද්දලා.අනාගතේ මේවාට මුහුණ දෙන්නේ අපේ දරුවෝ. අපි ඉල්ලන්නෙත් නැතිව මේ වැව හදන්න පටන් ගත්තා, අලුත්වැව /කුඹහා වැව යටක් අක්කර 80ක් විතර පැස්සුවා.නමුත් කන්න අවසන් වෙද්දී වතුර හිඟයක් එනවා,වතුර මෝටර් තියෙන අය වතුර ගහ ගත්තා, නැති අයට කරන්න දෙයක් තිබුණේ නෑ. ඒ නිසා තමයි අපි වානක් හදලා දෙන්න කියලා ඉල්ලීමක් කරලා වානක් ඉදි කරන්නේ යැයි පැවසීය.

ඒ අවස්ථාවේදී නැගී සිටි තවත්  ගොවි මහතෙකු සභාව තුළ නොසන්සුන්ව හැසිරෙමින් කෑකෝ ගසමින් කියා සිටියේ වැවේ වාන වෙනස් කිරීමෙන් තම කුඹුරු යට වන බවයි.තවත් ගොවි මහතෙකුද නැගී සිටිමින් අදහහස් දැක්වීමේදී සභාවේ යම් උණුසුම්කාරී තත්වයක් ඇති විය.ඔහු කියා සිටියේ කඳුපාගම වැව කියන වැව යටතේ ඉඩම් බෙදා ගත්තේ එකම පවුලේ 05 දනෙක් යැයි කියමින් චෝදනා කළ අතර, ඒ අවස්ථාවේ ගොවින් අතර උණුසුම් වචන හුවමාරුවක් සිදු විය.

එහිදී අදහස් දැක්වූ රාජ්‍යය අමාත්‍යය දුමින්ද දිසානායක මහතා කියා සිටියේ,

ඔක්කොමලා නිශ්ශබ්ද වෙන්න, මම කියන දේ අහගන්න කැමති අය ඉඳලා, අනෙක් අය යන්න එළියට, අනුරාධ ජයරත්න ඇමතිතුමා එනවා අනුරාධපුරයේ එල්ලංගා පද්ධති නිරීක්ෂණයට එතුමාටත් මම කථා කරන්නම්.එතනදී ප්‍රායෝගිකව කරන්න පුලුවන් දේ කරන්න කථා කරන්නම්.මෙතනදී කාටද වාසී වෙන්නේ, කාටද අවාසි වෙන්නේ කියලා නෙමෙයි, මේ ව්‍යාපෘති හරහා පොදුවේ තියෙන වටිනාකම ගැන තමයි අපි බලන්න අවශ්‍යතාව  තියෙන්නේ.බැරි වෙලා හරි කාට හරි අසාධාරණයක් වෙනවා නම් අලුතින් ඉඩම් අස්වද්දනකෙට ඒ අයට ප්‍රමුඛතාවය දෙන්නත් අවශ්‍යයි.මෙච්චර කාලයක් ක්‍රමවේදයක් නැති නිසා වැව් ටික ඇල්ලුවා, ඉවරු ඇල්ලුවා, ආණ්ඩුවේ ඉඩම් ඇල්ලුවා.දැන් අතිගරු ජනාධිපතිතුමන්ගේ හා ආණ්ඩුවේ යම්කිසි ක්‍රමවේදයක්, වැඩපිළිවෙලක් එන කොට අර කලින් කරපු වැරදි සියල්ලම අපිට නිවැරදි කරන්න පුලුවන්කමක් නෑ,යම් පිරීසකට අසාධාරණයක් සිද්ධ වෙයි.හැබැයි අසාධාරණයක් වෙන අයටත් යම්කිසි සාධාරණයක් කරලා දෙන්න පුලුවන්කම තියෙනවා.ඒ නිසා හැමෝටම සාධාරණයක් වෙන විදිහට, අවම අසාධාරණයක් වෙන විදිහට මේ ප්‍රශ්නය අපි විසඳලා මේ ව්‍යාපෘති අපි ක්‍රියාත්මක කරමු.

අද බැනගත්තා නොයෙකුත් දේවල් සිද්ධ වුණා, ඒවා වෙන එකත් හොඳයි, සමහර වෙලාවට තමන්ට ප්‍රශ්නයක්, පීඩාවක් තියෙන කොට දරා ගන්න බැරි වෙන කොට ඒ වගේ දේවලුත් වෙනවා.හැබැයි අපි මේක පුරුද්දක් කර ගන්න හොඳ නෑ, නමුත් අපි සියලු දෙනාම මේකෙන් තේරුම් ගන්න අවශ්‍යය කාරණය තමයි අපි කොච්චර හරි දේ කළත්,  හොඳ දේ කළත් පීඩනයට පත් වෙන බොහෝ පිරිසක් ඉන්නවා.ඒ අය වෙනුවෙනුත් යම් කිසි සාධාරණයක් කරන්නේ කොහොමද කියලා අපි තේරුම් ගන්න අවශ්‍යයි.අපි අපේ පැත්තෙන් හරිම දේ කළා වෙන්න පුලුවන්, අපි හරිම වෙන්න පුලුවන්,  හැබැයි ප්‍රායෝගිකව පීඩාවට පත් වෙන පිරිසක් ඉන්නවා නම් ඒ අය වෙනුවෙනුත් යම්කිසි සාධාරණයක් කළ යුතුයි. මම විශ්වාස කරනවා මේ රජයේ නිළධාරීන් තමන්ගේ රාජකාරිය කරන ගමන්ම මනුෂයන් ලෙස මේ ප්‍රදේශයේ ජනතාවගේ අවශ්‍යතා, ප්‍රශ්න ගැනත් යම් වැටහීමක් තියෙනවා.හැබැයි ඔබතුමන්ලාට ඒ ප්‍රශ්න ගැන වැටහීමක් තිබුණත් රටේ තියෙන නීතී රීති එක්ක කරන්න දේකුත් නෑ, හැබැයි ඒ වගේ අවස්ථා වලදී දේශපාලන අධිකාරිය විදිහට අපිට පුළුවන්කම තියෙනවා මැදිහත් වෙලා යම් සාධාරණයක් කරන්න, දෙගොල්ලගේම තියෙන ප්‍රශ්න එක තැනකට ගෙනල්ලා විසදන්න අපිට පුළුවන්කම තියෙනවා. අද මේ කථා කර ගත්ත ඒවා, කෑ ගහගත්ත ඒවා මහා ලොකු දේවල් නෙමෙයි, ඒකෙන් කාගේ හිත් රිද්දවාගන්න අවශ්‍ය නෑ, කවුරුත් අධෛර්යමත් වෙන්න අවශ්‍යත් නෑ, මේ වගේ සාකච්ජා, අදහස් හුවමාරු කර ගැනීම් තුළ තමයි අපිට වගේම ඒ අයටත්  නිවැරදි වෙන්න පුළුවන්කම තියෙන්නේ, මේක වැරදි ආදර්ශයක් නෙමෙයි, හොඳ පූර්වාදර්ශයක් විදිහට අරගෙන කොහොමද අපි අපේ සේවය ජනතාව වෙනුවෙන් හරියට, හොඳට කරන්නේ කියන පණිවිඩය ගමු.ඒක තමයි අනාගතයේදී අපිට වටින්නේ, ඒ නිසා අපි සියලුම රජයේ නිළධාරීන්ට ස්තූතිවන්ත වෙනවා, දේශපාලන අධිකාරිය විදිහට මේකත් පැහැදිලි කරන්න අවශ්‍යයි, නිළධාරීන් ලෙස ඔබතුමන්ලාව ආරක්ෂා කරන්න අපි මැදිහත් වෙලා  ඉන්නවා.මේ සියලු නීතී රීතී සම්පාදනය කරලා තියෙන්නේ දේශපාලන අධිකාරිය විදිහට අපි, ඒ නිසා රජයේ නිළධාරීන්ට ඒ නීතී-රීතී මත ඉඳන් තමයි තීන්දු තීරණ ගන්න වෙලා තියෙන්නේ, දේශපාලන අධිකාරිය විදිහට අපි ජනතාව ගැන බලනවා වගේම නිළධාරීන්ව රාජකාරී මට්ටමින් ආරක්ෂා කරන්නත් අපි බැඳිලා ඉන්නවා, අපි ඒ දේ කරනවා යැයි පැවසීය.

මෙම අවස්ථාවට මිහින්තලය ප්‍රාදේශීය සම්බන්ධීකරණ කමිටුවේ උපසභාපති හිටපු ප්‍රධාන අමාත්‍යය එස්.එම් රංජිත් මහතා ඇතුළු ප්‍රාදේශීය දේශපාලඥයින්, මිහින්තලය ප්‍රාදේශීය ලේකම් සිරිමෙවන් ධර්මසේන මහතා ඇතුළු රාජ්‍යය නිළධාරීන් සහභාගී වූහ.

කලකට පෙර ලංකාවේ තහනම් කළ අධි විෂ සහිත මොනක්‍රොටපස්, මැලතියන් හා කාබෝෆියුරාන් පවා අසිමිත ලෙස රටට ගෙන්වීම මේ වන විට සිදුවේ. ඒවා විවිධ නම්වලින් ඇසුරුම් කර මේ වන විට අලෙවි කෙරේ.  රටට-ලෝකයට කාබනික කෘෂිකර්මාන්තය පෙන්වමින් බෝට්ටු කෘෂි රසායන මගින් මහ කන්නයේ වගාව සිදු කිරීම රජයේ සැලසුම වී ඇත.

රජයේ නිල ඩොලර් ගිණුමට බරක් නැති, රත්තරං වෙනුවට කෘෂි රසායන හොරෙන් ගෙන්වන ව්‍යාපෘතිය කෘෂිකර්ම අමාත්‍යාංශයට ආශිර්වාදයක් ලෙස සලකමින් කෘෂිකර්ම ලේකම් උදය ජයසිංහ, මහාචාර්ය ප්‍රියන්ත යාපා, තේ මණ්ඩලයේ සභාපති ජයම්පති මොල්ලිගොඩ ඇතුළු පිරිස කටයුතු කරති.

රේගුවට හොරෙන් බෝට්ටුවෙන් ගෙන්වා, හොරට රට පුරා බෙදා, හොරට අලෙවි කරන කෘෂි රසායන යොදා ගනිමින් නමට පමණක් කාබනික ගොවිතැනක් දැන් රටේ නිර්මාණය වී තිබේ. කෘෂිකර්ම අමාත්‍යාංශයේ අමන-තකතීරු ප්‍රතිපත්තිය මෙරට කෘෂිකර්මාන්තය සම්පූර්ණයෙන්ම කළු කඩය මත යැපෙන තැනකට තල්ලු කර ඇත. මේ කළු කඩ ප්‍රතිප්තිය රු. 6000 ට තිබූ  කෘෂි රසායන දැන් රු. 12,000 දක්වා මිල ඉහල නැංවීමට හේතු වී ඇත.  

පළිබෝධක නාශක රෙජිස්ට්‍රාර් 1980 අංක 33 දරණ පිළිබෝධනාශක පාලනය කිරීමේ පනත යටතේ සියළුම බලයලත් නලධාරීවරුන්, සියලුම නඩු පැවරීමේ නිලධාරි හා නඩු කටයුතු මෙහෙයවීමේ නිලධාරීන් ට  නියෝග කර ඇත්තේ කෘෂි රසායන 9 ක් පමණක් සොයා මෙහෙයුම් කර නඩු පවරණ ලෙසය.  (එම නිවේදනය මේ සමඟ අමුණා ඇත)  එමගින්, අනෙකුත් සියලු නීති විරෝධී කෘෂි රසායන අලෙවියට විවෘත නිල නොවන බලපත්‍රයක් ලැබී ඇත.

An investigation has been launched after the Western Province Intelligence Division had received an information in connection to a WhatsApp group suspected to be connected to Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS), operating in Sri Lanka.

Senior DIG in charge of Western Province and all divisions senior officers in the province have been informed to be vigilant over the information.

It was reported that a WhatsApp group called ‘Interschool’ is related to the ISIS and if someone was invited to join, they could not leave the group after joining.
 
The Director of the Western Province Intelligence Division has instructed the Senior DIG Western Province that it would be appropriate for the relevant section to conduct a speedy investigation into the information received them on this WhatsApp group.

Meanwhile, Police Spokesman SSP Nihal Thalduwa told DailyMirror that police are monitoring all suspicious groups on social media which could be a threat to national security.

Accordingly the intelligence units identified a similar Whatsapp group that could be suspected to be involved an extremism group and therefore the relevant authorities have taken action to investigate it immediately.(Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)

The locally mutated Delta variant of COVID-19 is now assigned to a new Delta sub-lineage, called Delta AY.28.COV-lineage.

This Delta variant which displayed A701S, A222V and A1078S spike protein mutations is now identified as B.1.617.2.28 and belongs to the Sri Lankan lineage.

Dr. Chandima Jeewandara, the Director of Allergy Immunology and Cell Biology Unit at Sri Jayewardenepura University, made this information public via his twitter account today (Sep. 26).

As of yesterday, 382 sequences in the AY.28.COV-lineage have been detected since the lineage was identified.

From this worldwide total, 228 have been detected from Sri Lanka.

The variant was also detected in Turkey, India, the United States and Russia.

The total number of people who fell victim to COVID-19 infection in Sri Lanka moved up as 71 more fatalities were confirmed by the Director-General of Health Services on Saturday (September 25).

The new development has pushed the official death toll from the virus outbreak in Sri Lanka to 12,680.

According to the data released by the Department of Government Information, the latest victims include 32 males and 39 females.

As many as 56 deaths were reported among elderly people who are aged above 60 years.

In addition, 14 individuals aged between 30-59 years and 01 below 30 years have also succumbed to the virus infection.

The daily total of new COVID-19 cases moved to 1,078 today (Se. 26) as 331 more people were tested positive for the virus, the Epidemiology Unit of the Health Ministry said.

Among the new cases are 04 returnees from foreign countries and 1,074 others who were associated with the New Year Cluster.

This brings the tally of coronavirus infections confirmed in the country to 513,609.

According to Epidemiology Unit data, 46,397 active cases are currently under medical care at hospitals, treatment centres and homes.

Total recoveries from the virus infection reached 454,532 earlier today as 843 more patients were discharged from medical care upon returning to health.

There are 2 parts to the Easter Sunday debacle targeting 3 churches & 3 hotels by 8 suicide bombers.

Part 1should be to bring to book every person who played a role in planning, executing or assisting the mass murderthat took place on Easter Sunday. Ignoring this means the likelihood of many more future attacks!

Part 2should be to bring to book every person who was aware of the intel warnings sent but did nothing to prevent the crime when they had the authority & capacity to do so irrespective of their position. Authorities must also investigate politicians/lawyers/others who are trying to mislead & divertattentionaway from the facts.

According to media, the AG’s department has forwarded indictments to the Puttalam High Court against Hejaaz Hezbullah & Principal of Save the Pearls madrassa school Mohamed Shakeel. Based on this media report all that the arrested lawyer is going to be charged with is inciting racist animosity between different ethnic groups. To charge the Principal under same clause what acts of racism has he committed while doing a paid job?

Is the charge of inciting ethnic hatred going to be the only charge against the arrested lawyer by the AG’s dept?

We hope the below facts are also being investigated & looked into by both the AGs dept & the CID & more serious charges will be filed at a future date.

Sri Lanka & ISIS 

It was on 29 June 2014 that Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi declared a so-called Islamic State. 34 Sri Lankans went to Syria to join ISIS. All the 8 suicide bombers were seen pledging allegiance to ISIS (and we all know the real brains/countries behind these terrorists!)

The argument that arrested lawyer was only providing legal consultation to justify links with the Easter Sunday suicide bombers & their families is a shoddy argument. We hope the AG’s department realizes this, if not, we would like to pose the following questions to the AG’s dept & the CID

3 suicide bombers & their families had direct links with the arrested lawyer & these were not for legal consultations!– has the AG’s dept looked into these links & ties?

1. Ilham Ahmed Mohamed Ibrahimthe Shangrila Hotel suicide bomberwas the Treasurer of Save the Pearlscreated by the arrested lawyer in early 2015. Who appointed Ilham as Treasurer?
2. The arrested lawyer & brother of the Dehiwela suicide bomberwere having discussions in his Dematagoda house to set up Save the Pearls.

Abdul Latheef Mohamed Jameelblew himself up at the New Tropical Inn Hotel,Dehiwela on Easter Sunday – he was educated in Australia & UK

• Inshaff Ahmed Mohamed Ibrahim (Cinnamon Grand suicide bomber)elder brother of Ilham the Shangri-la suicide bomber donated to Save the Pearls Trust – how much and what was this money used for by the arrested lawyer?

All 3 links with the 3 suicide bombers & their families have nothing to do with legal consultations.We hope the AG’s dept & CID have established this because the general public has!

The arrested lawyer however did give legal advice to the Dehiwela suicide bomber Jameel when he was summoned to CID in 2018 – WHY was he summoned? Note this link with a suicide bomber was before Easter Sunday bombing in April 2019.

Why did the arrested lawyer decide not to register Save the Pearls? 

As a lawyer he should know to register all lawfully functioningentities! As an unregistered ‘charity’ how much money has Save the Pearl/Trust received from overseas & locally & by whom and what has this money being used for? Has a proper audit been done by the AG’s dept & CID! 

What is the response of the AG’s dept to the arrested lawyer being an ADMIN of the Save the Pearls social media& exactly what was his role?

Is it a coincidence that the same time Jamaat-e-Millt Ibrahim (JMI) & Pearls of Wisdom was also formed in 2015immediately after the 2015 regime change took place assisted by US & Allies?

Did the AG’s dept & CID investigate if these Pearls” ended up being amalgamated as JMIto spread extremist fundamentalist ideology which resulted in creating 8 suicide bombers?

Has the AG’s dept looked into the sources of funding to Save the Pearls? 

What does the AG’s dept have to say about Save the Pearls receiving from Qater Charity banned by countries for funding terrorists!How much did this Charity send to Save the Pearls & what was the money used for?

Why is an internationally banned terrorist ‘charity’ sending money to an unregistered ‘charity’ teaching children?

Given that a banned terrorist organization has been linked to a local charity, what legal action is the AG’s dept taking against Save the Pearls?

Has the AG’s dept looked into who financed millions of rupees for the 2016 Best Mosque Competition event held at PM’s officeunder initiative Advocacy Reconciliation Council”. What was the purpose of this event & were members of this network linked to the Easter Sunday?

Is it a coincidence that the deported Sri Lankan linked to a suicide bombing in Syriahas as his lawyer – the arrested lawyer Hejaaz!

Is this arrested lawyer famed for arguing on behalf of terrorists!

What a coincidence, he even represented the suspects who damaged Buddha statues in Mawanellaarea through his junior lawyers!

Has the AG’s dept located which country the arrested lawyer was in at the time of the Easter Sunday attack& the duration of his stay?

Can the AG’s dept tell the public how many mobile phones this arrested lawyer operated & have all these SIM cardsbeen located& what do they reveal?

Close to 300 people perished and charging people on a lame ‘inciting ethnic disharmony’ is not the justice that the people are expecting to be delivered by the AG’s department.

The general public are no lawyers but they are not stupid either. They have followed every news report, every debate, every press/media release and in their eyes this arrested lawyer has been providing far more than professional legal consultations.

The arrested lawyer has had direct links to 3 suicide bombers prior to the Easter Sunday bombing with one of the 2 suicide-brothers functioning as his Treasurer and the other donating massive funds to his charity, while he has been seeking help from the 3^rdsuicide bombers brother to set up his charity & providing legal advice to the 3^rdsuicide bomber after he was summoned by CID in 2018. These links cannot be ignored and are all part & parcel of the greater ISIS fundamentalist ideology drawing people to commit murder in the name of religion. 

Thus, the public would like to ask if the Attorney General’s department & CID are going to further investigate the following areas the public think, are more important and should have taken priority in framing charges against the lawyer. He cannot be released with a lame charge!

If the UNHRC/fellow lawyers who are petitioning 24×7 on behalf of this arrested lawyer are doing so even after knowing above, it is a very sad state of affairs for Sri Lanka to have people side with terrorist-instigators and not the real victims of terror. We should not be surprised – LTTE lasted 30 years because the supposed same rights-activists always wanted GoSL to have tea with terrorists while happy to issue a feeble unemotional statement after every heinous terrorist act by LTTE.

Close to300 persons perished on Easter Sunday. It’s over 2 years and everyone is waiting for and demanding justice. However, some quarters locally & internationally have seen fit to hijack the status quo of ‘victim’ and plug it to people arrested for links to Easter Sunday. This is unforgiveable. Everyone is seeking the truth. Truth maybe bitter for some but they will have to accept it. Using the power of their positions, they cannot erase or dilute the truth. Truth & Justice must go hand in hand and we all want every person linked to the Easter Sunday crime to be punished. 

Let us remind all that the victims are not those arrested for links to Easter Sunday mass murder but those that perished inside 3 churches and 3 hotels and those that remain injured for life. If human rights organizations (both international & local) see fit to campaign for the release of a lawyer completely ignoring justice for these victims – we don’t need any court to determine their motives.

That the suicide bombers pledged allegiance to an entity that carries out murders on orders requires Sri Lanka’s law enforcement to eliminate the ideology & prosecute those involved in spreading it. The ideology has to be clipped to prevent future 21/4

Which is why, we expect, the AG’s dept and the CID to serve justice to the victims not to anyone linked to the attack projecting themselves as ‘victim’.

  I just viewed a  a video received via social media showing seemingly a challenge of a lady in Jaffna by the police and the sudden appearance of a lawyer, clearly positioned in advance to be handy,  confronting the police with an allegation of extra judicial action .The camera’s were also handy to make a recording of it  , showing enough to make the police appear in poor light . This was my response to it.

  I have fully anticipated such video’s .

This appears to be  an Engineered confrontations with the police , videoed partially to show Police in poor light, wIthout explaining the circumstances that led to the police action, leaving it to the viewers imagination to discern. This is not difficult to predict., (This was practiced widely in the making of the UK Channel for Sri Lanka Killing Fields” film) . These will be repeated and the Sri Lankan’s will see to it that these will go viral  and blame the police of HR violations.

All this is  in particularly  targeting,  the visit by an  EU delegation on Monday 27/9/21, to assess SL’s suitability for continuation  of GSP +  preferential import duty for exports to EU accounting for 30% , over 5 billion pa, of SL’s forex earnings.

This is the response of the combined opposition of NGO, Tiger Diaspora

and JVP/SJB to thwart any economic recovery that may follow COVID control following the highly successful vaccination program which they failed to under mine.

The Faint light at the end of the economic challenge tunnel that had just started to flicker would then be switched off plunging SL back into  another economic and social abyss.  The gullible SL population will happily orchestrate the blame for the govt for this result.

To repeat, the strategy is for apparently normal citizen to confront

law and order, create a challenge from the police, make it a confrontation, have a lawyer and camera handy to make a clever recording to show law enforcement in poor light, as violating HR  and release it to social media and Sri Lankans  will do the rest.

Let me remind you that this is a part of the misinformation based undermining / destabilization campaign  that commenced in Dec 2019 one month after the Presidential election in Nov/19 with the alleged kidnapping of the Swiss embassy employee raising the spectre of  a re appearance of the “white van culture”. This was exposed  as a staged fraud.However, only a few SL’s remember it and even fewer would connect it with todays :” incident”

Unless the SL population is super vigilant and stop the spread of videos of this nature  on their tracks, the Sri Lankan’s will be the ones who will suffer most.

There were many Church-based NGOs operating in the North and East throughout the conflict. Many of them had their offices virtually next door to LTTE offices.

Audit the monies sent to these organizations throughout 30 years and evaluate against what they had done against what their websites and reports claimed they did. What were they really upto in the North and East when LTTE was running a defacto state using LTTE police, LTTE judiciary, LTTE courts, LTTE schools, LTTE teachers, LTTE curency…? Who can answer?

Colombo, September 25 (newsin.asia): 65 countries, including Sri Lanka and Pakistan made a joint statement at the UN Human Rights Council on Friday against interference in China’s internal affairs under the pretext of advocating human rights, a newsletter issued by the Chinese embassy in Colombo said.

The Global Times said that the joint statement by the 65 countries was delivered by Pakistan. The statement stressed that respect for sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of states and non-interference in internal affairs of sovereign states represent basic norms governing international relations.

Hong Kong, Xinjiang and Tibet related issues are China’s internal affairs that brook no interference by any external forces. The joint statement reiterates support for China’s implementation of one country, two systems” in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.”

All parties should abide by the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations and the principles of universality, impartiality, objectivity and non-selectivity, respect the right of the people of each state to choose independently the path for human rights development in accordance with their national conditions, and treat all human rights with the same emphasis, said the joint statement.

It also called upon all states to uphold multilateralism, solidarity and collaboration, and to promote and protect human rights through constructive dialogue and cooperation.

The joint statement emphasized that the 65 countries oppose politicization of human rights and double standards. They also oppose unfounded allegations against China out of political motivation and based on disinformation, and interference in China’s internal affairs under the pretext of human rights.

GCC Joins Chorus

In addition, six member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) issued a joint letter supporting China’s position. More than 20 countries expressed their support to China in their national statements.

Altogether, nearly 100 countries expressed their understanding and support for China’s legitimate position, Global Times said in its report.
