That the LTTE and their supportives around the world, particularly in Canada have not given up their ambitions to re-group becomes very apparent through this report which is a strong incentive for the Government of Sri Lanka to take prompt action in order to persuade the Canadian Government that the Tamil Tiger movement still has its cells around the world and that it must never forget that many Canadian cities could still be targetted as ideal breeding grounds for the terror group to re- organise and that there is a visible danger of Canada being subjected to the type of terrorism that the LTTE of past notoriety are capable of despite their elimination in Sri Lanka!

 There have been many expert opinions expressed on this threat by renowned terror analysts such as Professor Rohan Guneratne currently based in Singapore as well as many others whose insights have been pooh poohed by sympathisers of the LTTE some of whom even include big names in various administrative echelons of Canada and what this item reveals is a frightening possibility that unless very stringent measures are taken to remedy it, Canada and the world could be faced with a huge dilemma regardless of the arguments put forward by the lawyers who are defending the people apprehended by the Canadian Authorities where the conflict of interests stick out like a sore thumb!

The last paragraph of this report sums up the painful reality of why Canada has become a safe haven for LTTE terrorism and LTTE sympathisers and the sooner the group of “Refuge Seekers” are thumb printed, their mug shots taken and shipped back to Sri Lanka in shackles to face the authorities on terrorism related charges, the better off Canada, Sri Lanka and for that matter the entire would be as there can be no second guessing as to the intensity with which these desperate criminals and their allies are seeking to re-group! That there could be civilians who are bona fide refugee seekers becomes invalid the moment the consensus becomes one related to the type of individuals who have organised this attempt to reach Canadian shores(Tamil Tiger Terrorists~ some who have managed to escape the dragnet of the Sri Lankan and International Authorities)) and they too most unfortunately are part of the terrorist enclave on the ship by their presence alone!!

 “A dozen men on the Ocean Lady are LTTE members”The successful interdiction of the Merchant Vessel Ocean Lady by the Canadian Forces was based on advanced intelligence, most probably aided by law enforcement agencies in Toronto. This has no doubt helped Canada prevent a major terrorist infiltration. When the ship attempted to enter Canadian territory on 16 October 2009, the Canadian Navy patrol frigate HMCS Regina was working with law enforcement and intelligence agencies to interdict the ship. Investigations to date have revealed that Ocean Lady is a ship owned and operated by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Elam (LTTE). This ship was previously known as the Princess Easwary and it had been used by the LTTE to smuggle weapons from North Korea to Sri Lanka. On board were both genuine refugees and terrorists, including at least one member of the suicide squad of the LTTE wanted by INTERPOL. For more than a decade, Canada had earned international notoriety as the most important international safe haven for LTTE propaganda, fundraising, and procurement.

Canada politicians of all parties must start saying “no” to the pressure groups that support terrorism in Canada. More than a dozen men from a ship now docked in British Columbia have already been identified as members of the terrorist group. This well maintained and professionally operated vessel was not a tramp steamer as its appearance suggest, but rather a part of the LTTE fleet. If sources had not told Canada that the vessel was approaching our shore line, it probably would have been able to lands its human cargo and disappear again to repeat the same mission. The LTTE had lost a part of its naval and marine force in the war last year, but at least three other vessels besides the Ocean Lady are thought to still be in service, carrying out smuggling runs.

It has emerged that the militarily defeated LTTE have not disappeared, but rather they are dispersing. The most popular destination areas for their fighters and supporters will be well known terrorist safe havens such as Canada. Other target areas for their fighters will be Australia, New Zealand, the UK, and other European countries. According to figures from Sri Lanka, 10,000 or more LTTE fighters and supporters have been identified and are being held, but a few thousand have escaped. As such, we can expect that literally hundreds of individuals will want to escape to countries such as Canada.

While it is clear that this is an LTTE operation, more pressure is being placed on politicians at the constituency level and at the national level to have them accepted as refugees. It is hoped that these same politicians will then pressure the country’s front line bureaucrats to speed up the process and avoid taking a thorough look at these individuals to determine who they really are and how they came to be in Canada.

The ability of terrorist pressure groups to operate in Canada and influence politicians is well known. In 2000, then Finance Minister Paul Martin and Member of Parliament Maria Minna went to a fund raising dinner for the LTTE put on by FACT (Federation of Associations of Canadian Tamils.) Despite being warned about the true nature of the dinner by both the RCMP and CSIS, the Finance Minister lent his considerable weight and presence to the dinner. As such, he was legitimizing a terrorist group known for having invented the suicide bomber belt after having pioneered the modern day use of suicide bombers (well before al Qaeda would do this). By that time the LTTE had also led the way in developing female suicide bombers and had assassinated Rajiv Gandhi, a former Prime Minister of India. On top of everything else, the LTTE was infamous for its oppression of other Tamils and using children as fighters. This was the same Paul Martin who asked for support from the International Sikh Youth Federation (ISYF) in 1990, five years after the Air India disaster killed 331 people and at a time when it was known the ISFY was connected to terrorism.

Notwithstanding the recent finding of the Government of Canada that the LTTE is a terrorist group, we still see MPs supporting it in public. The MP for the riding of Bramalea-Gore-Malton, Gurbax Singh Malhi, was on Parliament Hill this year telling demonstrators waving LTTE flags that “”I’d like to let you know I’m helping you guys. I’m behind you because you are fighting for a right cause.” At the same time, elected officials from various levels of government are still seen in public in 2008 and 2009 supporting yet another banned terrorist group, the ISFY.

To his credit, it would appear that Prime Minister Harper has warned his Members of Parliament that they are not to attend community affairs if the event sponsor may have terrorist links. This must be seen as some form of progress, but much remains to be done as we can see from the current situation.

The state of affairs that is emerging from the interception of this ship will test various functions of the government. The Canadian response will be complicated by the fact that Canada has no foreign intelligence service and its vision is therefore often limited or even blind in a crisis. Because Canada lacks the sovereign capability to collect and analyse its own foreign intelligence, we as a country have to go cap-in-hand to other countries, institutions or individuals to provide us with intelligence. This is problematic, of course, as other countries will often provide only selected intelligence designed to influence us, rather than support us.

This deficit could be partially corrected by building an open source (yet still capable) terrorism and national security studies centre. This has been done in other countries such as Australia, Singapore and in Scotland (UK). However, Canada has not even done that, so tying into the highly valuable network of foreign centres is done on a sporadic and personal basis, rather than in an organized manner. Canada does get highly valuable information from these centres on occasion, but the expertise and skills needed to reciprocate for full cooperation are not there.

The LTTE will continue to target Canada as a safe haven for its fighters and for fund raising. As Canadians, we should be all too aware of how conflicts “over there” can affect us “over here.”

The still unsolved largest mass murder of Canadians on Air India Flight 182 should serve as a guide as to how the right steps should be taken in the first place, not afterwards. Canadian politicians of all stripes must put aside their vote seeking goals and aim higher to protect Canada and Canadians.

In response to recent item captioned English, Peace and Conflict, Politics, Post-War by Dr. P. Saravanamuttu where he suggests somewhat prudently that”The war it seems is not over, the international conspiracies to save Prabhakaran and the LTTE are now said to have morphed into a conspiracy to destabilize the government, initiate regime change and charge its leading lights and war heroes with war crimes.’ there seems to be almost a tone of extra sensory perception to the theme as though this is something he envisions towards the detriment of the Rajapaksha Administration with a tone of warning attached to it.

 Perhaps the warning needs to be heeded and time appropriate for the basking in the glory of victory over the terrorists to stop and greater attention paid to what the warning carries in the best interests of the Nation towards posterity.

 Given the consideration that there are many others harping on this same theme in recent times in a wishful thinking mode to which the Tamil Diaspora who fomented so much input towards the LTTE cause which must surely play a major part in the Saravanamuttu rationale, there need to be great cautions exercised in how the Sri Lankan Administration now manouvres through the current turbulences the nation is faced with! Some artificially created!

 The perils the Nation faces at this time of transition from a terrorist ravaged one into one of impending tranquility is overrun with many enemies of the State both internally as well as externally planning to bring down its Administration for personal gain as well as motivations that reach far beyond the common eye relative to foreign interference where great cautions are needed to resolve many National issues hinged on National Security, Global credibility and a return to a normal order inasmuch as the landmines in the ex war zones needing to be cleared effectively and seem very real!

 Add to it a substantial quotient of the Ranil Wickremasinghe as well as other opposition cells together with many civil society activists which the Saravanamuttu analysis suggests are key figures in this decidedly and dangerously unpatriotic anti national exercise and part of a a collective conspiratorial equation which seems to be consequently complete.The dangerous lack of patriotism amongst some then becomes portrayed quite visibly where Mr Saravanamuttu ’s vision seems almost paranormal and the reinforcements and remedial measures needed to counter it imperative!

 Quoting “An English language broadsheet during the week having quoted the Minister of Transport and leading light of the current regime as suggesting the conspiratorial intonations and in doing so making a link between the Channel 4 video and the fate of the GSP Plus extension. Whilst the regime’s argument is that the sole purpose of this purported conspiracy is to destabilize and replace it, the question does arise as to whether the airing of such allegations in the first instance without substantiation with hard facts, is not destabilizing in itself ? Is there a conspiracy abroad as alleged or, is there a most disturbing paranoia and over-exaggeration of threats to national security at the heart of the regime? Are we in a post-war situation heading steadily towards a post conflict one, as we should, or are we in a situation of a continuation of war by other means?:” end quote on a speculative as well as hypothetical note perhaps where there is little indication that the Administration is in anyway swayed towards detriment based on such sentiments regardless of the doomsday nature of the forecasts and appears to have done very well thus far.

 However it needs vehement contradition that the central issues at hand are human rights related if suggested as deliberately orchestrated where the record of the regime on this score has been cited as poor or even adverse albeit the true record proves that every effort has been made by the Administration to alleviate the sufferings of the IDP internees which given its daunting nature is indeed what GSP Plus revolves around.

 Almost sickeningly it has now come to light that the Channel 4 video was a deliberately created diversion doctored to garner international contempt where the truth in all its assertive strength has prevailed and who was behind it. If human rights is at the very core of the plight of the IDPs – the unquestionably central and urgent issue impacting on the nation’s future and the litmus test for peace, reconciliation and unity appear to have been paid great attention to contrary to negative paranoias about them as brushed off issues!

 Demonstrable progress on these issue if they have not been observed already even in some small measure is a shortcoming of those who have failed to make the observation due to their own apathies and myopias and should not to be the detriment of the Nation which is making great progress towards total recovery and centrally and self –evidently visible towards the national interest.

The Administration has pledged January 2010 as the cut off date for the IDP’s to be cleared and there should be no created impediments to disrupt the objective!

In Colombo, Sri Lanka yesterday a Sri Lankan reporter was sentenced  to 20 years in prison on charges of violating the country’s strict anti-terror laws. There can be no leniencies towards indicting and incarcerating through the Nation’s Justice System, anyone who violates this to the extent of publishing treasonous material which the journalist in question J.S. Tissainayagam has been found guilty of. Harsh thought the judgement may be in the eyes of some it seems a necessary one!
 
His bold and excessively exaggerated articles in the now-defunct Northeastern Monthly magazine in 2006 and 2007 which criticized the  Government’s conduct of the war against the Tamil Tiger rebels and accused authorities of withholding food and other essential items from Tamil-majority areas as a tool of war has cost him dearly.
 
He should however consider himself fortunate as perhaps if this  had happened in a country like China the punishment would have been much more severe. There is nothing to justify such publications by a journalist regardless of whether he has won the highest Awards France could offer to a Journalist or whether US President Barack Obama has cited him as a brave individual as it is still a violation of A Sovereign Democratic Nation’s Laws of The Land and a felony!
 
There is no getting behind the fact that the subject content of journalist Tissainayagam in these publications for which he was jailed was directed at the Government of Sri Lanka and the  conviction, 17 months after the ethnic Tamil reporter was arrested, which was the first time a journalist was found guilty of violating the country’s Prevention of Terrorism Act  in Sri Lanka  and could possibly not be the last!
 
On the issue of Human Rights groups having accused the Government of waging a broad crackdown on media freedoms, despite the hoopla and hype involved there should be no qualms about carrying out the relevant justice and meting out punishments as the person charged must well have known the existence of the Prevention of Terrorism Act unless he was impared or ignorant of the Act and the severe penalties it carries which if true has only himself and his associates to blame and the Government of Sri Lanka has done well  in executing the ratified penalties which go with the related issue despite International bickering that has continued since the complete demise of the rebels by Government Forces which ended the Nation’s long standing  internal armed insurrection by the Tamil Tigers in May.
 
Labelling Tissainayagam, a prisoner of conscience by Amnesty International bears little relevance to the greater importance of how he seems to have conveniently circumvented reporting in accuracy the attrocities of the Tamil Tigers who almost destroyed and nearly brought the Nation of Sri Lanka to her knees through years of armed terrorism and that’s where the real conscience should be rather than the definition of Amnesty which as usual has chosen to interfere into the internal affairs of a Sovereign Nation which is not obliged to dance to Amnesty’s or for that matter anyone else’s  tunes for the purpose of their convenience whilst attracting cheap global publicity in the process which the group is  particularly known  for according to many observers.
 
Mr Tissainayagam was arrested in March 2008 and indicted five months later under the Anti-Terror Law.
During his World Press Freedom Day address in May and consequently US President Barack Obama highlighted Tissainayagam’s case as an example of journalists being jailed or harassed for doing their jobs which has become purely a matter of US presidential opinion  which does not seem to acknowledge the severity of Tissainayagam’s motivations where it has been proven that he has openly colluded with the Tamil Tigers and therein lies the severity of Tissainayagam’s actions which has provoked Governmental response. Has the President also forgotten some of the Prisoners being held in Guantanamo Bay whose criminalities have yet to be proven despite languishing in jail cells with ball and chains around their legs whose only crime as apparent in some cases is being at the wrong place at the wrong time whereas Tissainayagam has obviously flaunted the Law in Sri Lanka and committed treason in the eyes of the Law!!
 
When in June 2009, the Government  with no mincing of words has unequivocally said it would re-establish a powerful Press Council with the authority to jail journalists it finds guilty of defamation or inaccurate reporting it has taken a very appropriate stand with a no nonsense attitude  and zero tolerance towards false news reporting which seems rampant and rife in Sri Lanka in these days and at times not only misleading and exaggerated but also very malicious  orchestrated by sympathisers of the Tamil Tigers.
 
The Government has every right to defend the credibilities of the Nation as the Tamils Tigers the world knows now are a vanquised entity! The ony logical conclusion one can arrive at regarding the Tissainayagam verdict is that Breaching Protocols governing press freedoms relative to the Prevention of Terrorism Act to pander to terrorists is illegal regardless of who gets sanctimonious about it!

What a pathetic lot some of these Sri Lankan Tamils in Canada are as they turn from one phase of disgruntled anguish to another as they give vent to their frustrations by disrupting day to day life in various parts of Canada and what a mistake Canada seems to have made in granting some of them refugee status instead of checking some of them for their bona fides to enter Canada!

They came in droves during the early part of the Tamil Tiger insurgency whimpering that they were being villified by the majority Sinhalese and an all encompassing compasionate Canadian hierarchy at the time even overiding the genuine Immigrant applicant’s rights to acceptance granted them access into this beautiful land and what have they done mostly over the years but band into groups of terror supportive enclaves and poured in billions of dollars into the Eelam cause and failed miserably!

The recent demonstrations in Toronto, the capital of Ontario Canada portrayed a large number of Canadian Tamils demonstrating outside the Chinese Consulate here, protesting China’s financial, economic and diplomatic support of the Sri Lankan Government which appeared to all intents and purposes as those of a defeated and vanquished group of terror supportives’ now beating their heads against a rock in attempting to confront Industrial Giant and one of the Worlds most powerful nations China which goes to prove how misguided perhaps even ignorant and apathetic these groups are.
 
The bravado of these groups are mainly due to the leeway and tolerance granted them by previous Liberal Administrations who virtually nurtured their power block, joined their social  and community activities whether inadvertently or not,  which mostly fronted the LTTE the terror group which devastated Sri Lanka to such a great degree and it was not until the recent Progressive Conservative Administrative incumbency that they were curbed and disbanded as terror supporters of an outlawed LTTE which of course coincided with the  eventual demise of the terrorists but despite this their protests and demonstrations continue for the same cause as before and the Canadian Government perhaps needs to take a more stringent means to dissuade these worthless protests which cause much embarrassment as well as many inconveniences and apprehensions to all peace loving Canadians.
 
What with the attempted blockage of Highways, huge protests both on terra firma as well as aerial in nature at a Cricket tournament in which Sri Lanka participated in the not too distant past as well as dangerous illegal activities which involve gun running, money laundering and drug dealing in certain parts of Toronto, gang warfare and attacks on innocent civilians by young  Tamil thugs which have caused a degree of mayhem and brought much shame and disrepute to the good Sri Lankans living overall in Canada the agitations on the part of pro LTTE has to stop and it’s upto the Canadian  Authorities to put an end to it.
 
It has now reached a stage of zero tolerance for the Canadian Authorities who should wipe out the ugly nature of any protestations by pro LTTE Tamils which are in fact the true nature of all these agitations despite how the organisers care to label them!

To suggest boldly that “China must stop its support to  the Sri Lankan regime, which is running modern-day internment camps within its borders,” David Poopalapillai, National Spokesperson for the Canadian Tamil Congress  which is a front for the continued cause for Eelam in Sri Lanka (according to some analysts) has expressed anguish that ”China is the largest supplier of arms to the Sri Lankan military and increased its help when other countries refused to sell military supplies for use in the civil war” which has to be rephrased to disillussion him that his rhetoric is an admission of the existence of the terrorist power block ”used in an internal armed insurrection by subversives” where China and all the other Nations which helped Sri Lanka’s effort to put down the terrorists  did Sri lanka a huge favour and those which circumvented the issue needing to hang their heads in shame and those who continue to pander to the cause incarcerated! 

There is no call to demand that” At the very least, China should use its diplomatic relations with Sri Lanka to pressure the government into releasing the 280,000 camp detainees in accordance with international law.” A kind of diplomacy pandering to the resurgence of the LTTE and a diplomacy where the modes and statutes of International Law might have to be restructured to include a means to first weed out and deal with some 10,000 odd terrorist subversives who have mingled with the internees in the IDP and a very ludicrous call for China to be diplomatic in tolerating the terrorist cause which they would be doing? That China has opted to continue on the path towards helping rebuild the Nation rather than Eelam  with all kudos to China seems to be a bitter pill for these protestors to swallow!

Quoting Human Rights Watch reports at this stage does not carry any weight towards Sri Lanka’s combined effort with China to rebuild and re-develop the Nation of Sri Lanka after decades of LTTE attrocities which were Nation destructive and Organizations such as HRW  which have already lost much credibility through meddling in the internal affairs of sovereign democracies whould focus their attention to other parts of the world where there are true human rights violations such as those one encounters on a daily basis in countries like Burma, certain African Nations as well as parts of the Middle East to name some and leave Sri Lanka alone as their interference merely complicates the effort on the part of both Sri Lanka and China with a host of other friendly nations chipping in towards the cause!
 
Perhaps it’s time for them to accept the reality, harsh though it may seem to some who squandered their life savings, blood sweat and tears in supporting the LTTE that the game is over, there will be no Eelam and unless they throw in their lot towards the rebuilding of Sri Lanka for the posterity and well being of all her citizens (including freedom loving Tamils ) after the destruction the Pro LTTE block mostly contributed to, they are going nowhere with their pathetic demonstrations which are causing much consternation to all freedom loving tranquil Canadians who seem to have an unnecessary turbulence amongst their day to day existences!

There seem to be a spate of opinions about the adverse effects that will prevail on the Nation by the unthinkable displacement through violent means of President Rajapaksha so much so that it probably needs to be put into proper perspective.Hopefully it is the brainchild of paranoia but as the saying goes “better safe than sorry!”

While it is also fair to assume that there seems to be an apparent lowering of Presidential guard in the aftermath of the victory over the Tamil Tiger terrorists this does not coincide with the nature of the man himself who is an astute disciplinarian, takes strong lessons from the past relative to the violent means by which many of his predecessors met their end and surely knows how to conduct his affairs in public with extreme caution and the maximum security available to him and there really should be no doomsday predictions necessary towards his personal safety if all the measures set in place to safeguard him became fully operative to the fullest capacity if they already haven’t! However,to reiterate better safe than sorry is definitely the punch line here towards the posterity of Sri Lanka where this President above all others has all the qualities of someone who will lead from the front and guide Sri Lanka further into the 21st century now that the LTTE are no more.

 While there must be much credibility in the reports of a female suicide bomber lurking around Colombo,where it has been reported that a bomb was found buried in the ground where the President attended a rally and a ‘Sinhala ‘ individual is said to have been arrested for plotting to kill the President there also needs to be wisdom relating to  prudence applicable by all concerned with Presidential safety towards preventing any mass hysteria and paranoia that such reports could create within the Nation and the exercising of confidentiality relative to such reports could be a viable consideration towards maintaining calm in the Nation where there can be no more fallout through backlashes and violence the releasing of such information to the public could result in.

 That these are very trying times in Sri Lanka is putting it mildly where great caution needs to be exercised as the road ahead seemd laden with perils where the caution factor seems imperative and exactly what the messages of warning seem to be trying to convey!

 However to suggest (quoting a recent item )  that ” As the saying goes, they need to be lucky only once and chances are that they will be lucky soon unless the President takes his security seriously.” is somewhat of an overkill (stamping out any pun) while perhaps providing ladders to the harbingers of evil but considering the extent to which Presidential security is fortified the phrase “they who will be lucky ” perhaps inapplicable as long as the President does not indiscriminately and recklessly venture out into public places for at least a period of time when the all clear sounds that the terrorist element as well as any lurking subversives have been dealt with in their entirety.

A objective the Armed Forces and Law enforcement agencies within the land have now made a top priority! Even after this great caution needs to be exercised in the best interests of Presidential safety as this is one President all Sri lankan’s need to guard with their very lives for such is his value in the greatest service he has rendered to all Lankans namely ridding the Nation of the Tamil Tigers!

There is also the latest report of suicide bomber material and weaponry which have been uncovered in an area where trhe President’s brother and top Defence Advisor was intending to visit where the timely discovery is probably fortuitous towards a worst case scenario being avoided although in this instance too it has been expert surveillance, defence intelligence and the efficiencies of the Security Staff that has played the major role towards the discovery and as long as this kind of momentum is maintained without a break and accurate to the minutest detail the subversives and enemies of the State will surely have no means towards their objectives and consequently be crushed!

 The pressure to eliminate them insamuch as was exercised towards the same task relative to the LTTE has to be a foremost priority where Sri Lanka can ill afford any lapses in security for which there could be a heavy price to pay and what the advisories towards presidential and high dignitaries’ safety measures are emphasizing need to be taken seriously without permitting any paranoia to set in!

 Something of any concern towards Presidential and National safety if made an issue is all this talk about the powers of Lieut Gen.Sarath Fonseka being deliberately weakened through Presidential resolve and being circulated throughout the Nation as well as globally and something which needs to be viewed objectively towards rescinding by the status quo if there is even a semblance of truth to it as it has to be remembered that it was this person almost singlehandedly who eventually demised the LTTE with obvious assistance from the rest of the Armed Forces but his strategy which prevailed overall. It is deserving of a lifelong contract to his office without reservation!!!

Any ursurpance of the Lieut. General’s powers could be a weakening of the guard and could be viewed by the Nation’s enemies who would welcome such a move towards their objectives whether Eelam or any other means of overwhelming the Nation towards their objectives and with dire reprisals for Sri Lanka!

In conclusion it has to be said that the global hue and cry over the need to discontinue and disperse indiscriminately the Internationally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camps needs contestation as ludicrous where they have been established as a breeding ground for elements who are hell bent on recussitating the LTTE and that there are possibly at least 10,000 such miserable albeit Nation Harmful individuals and these too could pose a very serious threat to Presidential as well as National Security if they are not isolated and dealt with according to the law and consequently it seems all systems go that the measures to safeguard the President entails a high degree of priority as called for where no stone can remain unturned towards

Perhaps Pakistan legspinner Danish Kaneria who has been found guilty of breaching the ICC Code of Conduct on day two of the ongoing Test at the SSC Stadium in Colombo needs to be taught a thing or two about personal conduct while playing the Gentlemen’s Game so as not to behave like a slumdog who has taken to the game for the first time and appears to be exactly what the title emphasizes barking around in limbo and seems to have missed his cue in trying to deal with his incapacity to be amongst gentleman for whatever reason!This after a long pre-emption by Pakistan towards selecting him in the recent past where he seeems to have let his entire side down!

 There seems to have been no provocation on the part of one of the most gentlemanly young players in Sri Lankan Cricket, Angelo Matthews whom the often inanely grinning Kaneria has abused after he was dismissed by him and perhaps the fines and reprimands imposed on Kaneria is insufficient towards his unwelcome and contentious behaviour which could be interpreted as the Pakistanis being poor losers if Kaneria’s foul language is to be construed as such! After all, Sri Lanka has resoundingly thrashed Pakistan in the two previous test have they not? Had this occurred in some Mid Eastern Enclave perhaps Kaneria may have had to face a few proverbial lashes in public even figuratively!

 In Sri Lanka contrary to what some may think, the game is played to its fullest expectations by its nomenclature alone and the Lankans have a reputation of being gentlemanly players whose charisma and charm have worldwide repute while also being a fighting team competitive to the end with nary a disgruntlement as losers and there is no privy for any Pakistani or anyone for that matter to walk onto the playing fields in Sri Lanka and act as though they were a bunch of thugs from some suburban Pakistani back alley where a single act of insolence could be a reflection on the entire team.

 Perhaps they also need to be reminded that it was in Pakistan that the Sri Lankan team came close to disaster and a near death experience for which the Pakistanis perhaps need atoning on behalf of their country which has now been severely ostracized from the cricketing world rather than have one of their loose tongued punies come onto the field and insult Sri Lankan players regardless of how he spins the ball~ take an object lesson from Muttiah Muralidaran my dear fellow and behave yourself in the future!!

 It is hoped for the sake of the many decent players in the Pakistani side that this type of puerile and boorish behaviour by a single brat of the nature of Kaneria will not be repeated as Sri Lankan crowds are intolerant of such types and the fact that he had brilliant bowling figures becomes tantamount to zilch if they were not obtained with gentlemanly fervour and nullifies Kanerias effort where his singlemost effort towards being abusive by far obliterates all else and stands out!

 In this respect it needs to be said out loud “Shame on you Kaneria!” alongside which calling for a public apology to the entire Sri Lankan team including Angelo Matthews might well be in order!

June 28th 2009 -Very understandably Sri Lanka has to be furious over the Lord’s cricket ground attacks in London England by pro LTTE thugs on innocent Sri Lankan spectators. The British Law Enforcement Agencies including the British Government should first hang their heads in shame and then launch a full inquiry into what transpired at the T-20 Cricket Final between Sri Lanka and Pakistan and what prevented the local Police from intervening, apprehending and arresting these thugs!

Ironically there were many warning sent out that these very type of incidents could transpire at this event which seem to have gone unheeded by the authorities

It has been reported that The Sri Lankan High Commission in Britain has formally lodged a protest with the Home Office in London over what it termed ‘lethargy’ by the local police in dealing with pro-LTTE thugs who physically attacked more than two dozen Sri Lankan cricket fans , including women, wearing Sri Lanka supportive T Shirts after the T20 World Cup final at Lords last Sunday.They were brutalised,abused and intimidated where some of them need hospitalisation while the Brit Bobbby truncheons remained inactive and the Bobbies looked on perhaps enjoying the show, refusing to intervene using some cockamanie excuse whereas there should have been a few cracked heads and clicking of handcuffs in the pro terrorist camp and a dragging off in Black and Whites to the nearest lock up!!

So what has the United Kingdom been transformed into today? ~ the latest enclave of the vanquished and eliminated Tamil Tigers back in Sri Lanka so as to be tolerant of this kind of attrocity in the home of cricket itself? Where the police have looked on and turned a blind eye to the attacks using the excuse that these thugs had carte blanche to carry out their attacks in the guise of approved protests according to a Police spokesman, so whom are they trying to kid?

 Britain already has a notoriety for a pro LTTE Tamil spokesperson amongst elected Parlimentarians who constantly raises his voice towards the LTTE cause but goes scot free despite a ban on the organization deemed terrorists in England.

 Then there was the extended tolerance of terrorist idealogue Anton Balasingham ( now deceased)and his wife Adele who were given safe haven in England for many years despite their blatant support and involved participation with the Tamil Tigers where even the BBC chipped in to broadcast what appeared to be their condescending views at times over the Tamil Tiger issue which further adds to the chagrin of freedom loving Sri Lankan expatriates living in Britain?

 Is Britain also being transformed into another overseas enclave of the LTTE inasmuch as Toronto and other major cities in Canada? where the double standard of banning the LTTE yet tolerating their pro-active protesters seems commonplace despite its incomprehensible nature which is bound to have dire ramifications in every location these protesters surface through their continued tolerance by the related authorities and has to stop !

 There are reportedly many underground cells of the LTTE still in circulation in Britain which need to be sought out, disbanded and their participants dealt with severely as there can be no proviso for the world’s once most dreaded terrorist group towards ever springing up again as it could spill out into a problem with much greater ramifications in a world where terrorism still threatens to raise its ugly head and engulf areas where they could base themselves and expand towards their objectives.

 The sooner the British Authorities take this issue by the scruff of its neck the better it will be for global safety where perhaps a precedent needs to be set for others to follow!!

Meanwhile, the organizers planning a cricket carnival on July 12 in London have also expressed concern for safety following the Lords attacks where it is simply not cricket on the part of the British Authorities to leave the issue of tracking down these thugs on the back burner as it could come back to haunt them!

The warnings and doomsday predictions by Ananda de Costa for Sunday’s T 20 Cricket Final at the Mecca of Cricket~ Lords in London England although sounding somewhat of an unmitigated paranoia does have some rhyme and reason.It also carries a profound message which cannot go unheeded! They most certainly cross reference the horrendous attacks on the Sri Lankan team bus in Lahore Pakistan and prior to that, the less aggressive demonstrations at King City, Ontario, Canada. Although the Lahore attack did not have fatal ramifications for the players mercifully, despite perhaps the trauma of it all where the alertness of the bus driver who drove the bus through a hail of bullets and rocket fire to safety probably saved their lives it did raise the question about player safety in a world full of terrorists.

Somehow and perhaps at a time when the world was less turbulent such incidents targetting sports events albeit not uncommon going back to the Munich Olympics were never considered a serious threat although the world has now lived to learn. It also exposed the lax security measure of the Pakistani Authorities and woe be unto the Authorities concerned in the forthcoming event if such lapses ever re-surfaced as the reprisals could permanently damage the image of English Cricket!

Hence the cautions pointed out by Mr Costa indeed need to be taken seriously by the British Authorities for all the reasons he has outlined and more as the UK still remains a safe haven for many dispossessed supporters of the Tamil Tigers (the LTTE )who have in the recent past created much havoc already for local Sri Lankan residents in various parts of the country, something which has also spilled out globally so this is no idle call by Mr de Costa by any stretch of the imagination!

These individuals who are groups of LTTE supportives, it has to be remembered by British Law Enforcement are still agitating and threatening revenge and vengeance against the Government of Sri Lanka’s elimination of the Tamils Tigers. These are pockets of residual diaspora LTTE supportives who still pose a threat to civilised societies around the world and perhaps the forthcoming Cricket Final At Lords on Sunday the 21st June 2009 could be one of the biggest challenges the British Authorities face
towards protecting the cricketers and taking all the preventive measures needed towards the safety of everyone concerned which includes the general public as well as the players.
London surely remembers the many attacks against innocent civilians as well as Law Enforcement personnel in the not too diatant past towards this!!

While there seems to be no real need to abandon the game as called for by Mr de Costa there definitely has to be very tight security cordon for the game which the British Authorities are quite adept at providing despite the possible threats posed by a large pro Tamil Tiger Lobby in the UK, are still criminal minded individuals by definition and need to be kicked out of the country towards British posterity!

When the Sri Lankan authorities on Wednesday barred a Canadian legislator Bob Rae from entering the country and put him on the next plane back to Canada it seemed indicative of how the Government of Sri Lanka views anyone sympathetic to the Tamil Tiger separatists’ cause as someone who does not have Sri Lanka’s best interests at heart.

It is the latest incident of a foreign official sent out of the country at the end of a 25-year war and Mr.Rae should have known better than to attempt entry into Sri Lanka after agitating in the Canadian Parliament calling for investigations into Sri Lanka’s war against the Tamil Tigers.

Mitigating Factors as reported by Reuters~ “Sri Lanka has refused entry to several foreign officials and journalists viewed as hostile towards the fight to wipe out the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE). The Government declared victory over the separatist rebels in a 25-year war on May 18. It rejected Britain’s attempt to send a special envoy to the conflict, saying it had been done without proper consultation, and refused to grant Sweden’s foreign minister entry in the closing stages of the war.

Sri Lanka’s conflict has long attracted foreign politicians, and their past involvement has been perceived by many in the current government as one reason the war was prolonged in peace talks with the LTTE that ultimately proved fruitless” which seems justifiable on the part of the Sri Lankan authorities to no longer tolerate any person or persons whose views are contradictory to Government policy and could hamper the process of Nation Building!

Bob Rae, a Liberal party legislator once an NDP’ er who is also known as a turncoat and a ship jumper by some Canadians has a notoriety if getting mixed up in contentious issues in his native Ontario where he has accrued a degree of unpopularity on several issues as someone who uses his political status as carte blanche to make dictatorial sounding statement and dabbles in situations he would have been better off leaving alone.
An idealist and a dreamer who seems to have his own views of being politically correct where the prefix ‘in’ seems to be missing he has found himself on the wrong side of the fence with the Sri Lankan authorities because of his outspoken sympathies and involvement with the Canadian Tamil Diaspora activities where he has often made veiled albeit unclassified statements about the justification of the Tamil struggle for secession which some analysts interpret as pro LTTE sympathies and he has only himself to blame for this response by the Government of Sri Lanka.

In saying that “the Sri Lanka’s Government had reached “ill-conceived and defamatory conclusions about me,” despite having spoken out against the Tigers during his prior involvement in the peace process which of course was a shambles, he is probably wrong as the conclusions made by the Sri Lankan Government appear to be based on his urging the Canadian Government to press for further investigations into allegations against the Military Campaign which eliminated the Tamil Tigers, something totally unacceptable to his friends within Canada’s Tamil Diaspora who still run around in droves waving flags for Velupillai Prabhakaran and the criminals of the LTTE.
“A review of Mr Rae’s record would also show that he has been a champion of the sometimes vociferous expatriate Tamil community’s opinions of dissent against the Governmrnt of Sri Lanka which has not augured well towards his popularity in Sri Lanka.

Rae was stopped at Sri Lanka’s international airport by the controller of Immigration and Emigration in the company of two Canadian High Commission officials when he reached the immigration counter as he attempted to enter Sri Lanka.This was done on the basis of intelligence reports on Mr Rae and the instructions were not to allow him into the country according to Immigration sources and was detained at the airport where he was put on the next available return flight.

Rae previously visited Sri Lanka to take part in the peace process after a 2002 truce and has been a featured speaker at Tamil forums in Canada. Rae’s constituency is in Toronto, which is home to a large Tamil population.

Repeated protests by Tamils in Toronto during the closing stages of the war, where demonstrators waved LTTE flags, infuriated Sri Lanka’s government since Canada is one of more than 30 countries that has listed the group as terrorists and apparently Mr Rae’s rhetoric in Parliament relative to investigations he had called for into accusations against the Government appear to have been a key contributing factor towards the refusal.

The Sri Lankan Government has released information to the World that the Army has recovered the body of slain Tamil Tiger supremo Velupillai Prabhakaran and broadcast the news as well as graphic pictures on national television which pro LTTE sources have ludicrously counter claimed that he was alive and that the group would continue to fight for a separate homeland.

This mentality fully portrays exactly what the LTTE stood for and how it operated mostly through innuendo, duplicity and lies and had some of the world gullible enough to listen to their trash wondering whether there was in fact any credibility these directionless terrorists ever had where they orchestrated peace negotiations, had intermediaries negotiate on their behalf and carried on their theatrics behind a clinically planned attempt to overrun the nation which even today seems to be a part of their modus operandi as their saga of demolition unfolds.It is however one which will never get off the ground as the LTTE are finished and wiped off the face of Sri Lanka with thanks to her brave President and the commanders of the Joint Armed Forces!

An individual by name of Pathmanathan said to be a new international spokespperson for the LTTE ( nothing new about him, he was part of the motley Prabhakaran entourage all along and one of the creators of the many LTTE myths intended to hoodwink the world and no attention needs to be paid to him towards any credibility, the man is a born liar and a creator of mass panic amongst the weak minded within the Tamil community through misrepresentation of facts and beyond that he fools no one.

The Government should in fact go after him and apprehend him as part of the LTTE terror outfit!( wonder if he too wears a cyanide capsule around his neck?)

To grossly disillussion the skeptics (if there are any left that is!) it has to be reiterated as the Sri Lankan Army Bulletin reported that “Prabhakaran’s body was found near Nandikadal lagoon (in the No Fire Zone),” as Army Chief Gen Sarath Fonseka said in a televised address just an hour after LTTE raised questions over his death with its “new international spokesman” S Pathmanathan saying Prabhakaran was alive and safe where this is a diabolical and deliberate lie as far as Pathmanathan and anyone else attempting to publicise it is concerned.
The images of the body aired by the television showed Prabhakaran in full battle fatigues with the bullet hole in his temple with his head resting on a newspaper. Prabhakaran’s face was intact with eyes wide open and the image bore a close resemblance to the stocky mustached rebel leader. The TV also showed his dog tag and an LTTE identity card bearing his number 0-01.The only remaing item towards the final confirmation of his demise now is the ultimate DNA analysis which will be forthcoming after which the likes of Pathmanathan and his ilk will have to find a different type of fodder for their crap shooting cannon and knowing the LTTE supportives for who they are, they probably will albeit to little or no effect!

Already the infamous South Indian parlimentarian Vaiko who has had a political debacle in the recently conducted general election where his party has had crippling losses at the polls seems to have picked up the Pathmanathan cum LTTE signals and is already echoing the blarney about his bosom buddy Prabhakaran being still alive which is more wishful thinking than any pointer towards reality,

The images of the dead Prabhakaran were shown on television as Pathmanathan came out with an emotional statement ~ “Our beloved leader Velupillai Prabhakaran is alive and safe. He will continue to lead the quest for dignity and freedom for the Tamil people.” The statement was carried by the pro-LTTE website TamilNet.Com. who need to be gently tapped on the shoulder in a manner of speaking and informed that Prabhakaran is now dead as a doornail and no amount of their yelpings and howlings are going to revive him!
The new face of the LTTE Vis a Vis Pathmanathan, who according to sources, is based in some South-East Asian country( there is a fair chance it is in Tamil Nadu India according to some analysts) went on to accuse the Sri Lankan forces of “crimes against humanity”, saying “the outfit’s” civil leaders B Nadesan and S Pulideevan were killed in “cold blood” when they had come to the Army’s 58th division with white flags to negotiate an end to conflict.

While this sounds so melodramatic as the claim indicates these individuals happened to be a part of Prabhakaran’s killing machine and if they were gunned down by the Army it was a carrying out of orders to eliminate any terrorist approaching any Armed Forces location as they were never to be trusted regardless of the colour of their flag which might as well have been black rather than white and they could easily have been strapped with explosives ~ a chance the Armed Forces could ill afford to take, so tough luck on them and damn the call for “crimes against humanity !”

The LTTE claims created not only ripples according to some reports but anger and disbelief within the Lankan Government as well as nationally where the Army Chief immediately made a television broadcast to state categorically that “reports from the battlefield confirmed this morning that they have identified the body of Prabhakaran, the ruthless LTTE terrorist leader”.

Further quoting the Commander of the Army who said with no compunction “The fighting was yesterday. Prabhakaran was killed yesterday and the body was identified today” there is hardly a need to disagree as it is the word of a man of honour and great accomplishment where no concocted depositions by the likes of Pathmanathan could ever discredit him as someone who knows what he is talking about!

Confirmation of the Tiger leader’s fate came a day after Sri Lankan Forces wiped out the entire top LTTE leadership attempting to stage a breakthrough and escape a well prepared Army cordon where the terrorists were in a convoy of buses and an armoured vehicle which were bombarded with Armed Forces firepower including RPG missiles which brought down the van in which Prabhakaran was attempting to escape.
It has, beyond any reasonable doubt ended one of the world’s most bitterly fought internal armed insurrections, a war between a sovereign Nation with all the entitlements to her sovereignity and territorial integrity and a group of armed insurgents who have failed in their bid.

THE LTTE AND THEIR LEADER PRABHAKARAN ARE NO MORE!
