The tiny Indian Ocean nation of Sri Lanka, the Resplendent Isle can only be viewed as a trend setting precedent making sovereign nation which ushered in the first successful ultimate defeat of nation destructive terrorists despite the greatest support the terrorists had from a humungus global network of expatriate diaspora et al, as well as back biting internal opposition politicians whose nefarious attempts to undercut the Rajapaksha Directive were severely crushed by an astute incumbent administration and a forceful military who acheived their Fait Accompli in grand style so it is quite natural that Sri Lanka is the cynosure of many envious eyes especially those nations globally cursed with the same plague of terrorism as well as some whose so called interference laced attempts to end terrorism outside their spheres of jurisdictions have failed miserably.

 So it is no surprise that all the calls for investigating human rights abuses during Sri Lanka’s military engagements are currently prevalent to the intensity it is. It can only be concluded logically that all the cockamanie theories put forward by the likes of the UN. Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, The European Union and a few misguided greenhorn politicians from the USA and the UK and all other related sources who often turn a blind eye to areas of real global human rights abuses are mere apathetic attempts based mainly on conjecture and hearsay very obviously promoted but the remaining global residue of Tamil Tiger support~ a powerful one at that~ to show derision and envy based on what they themselves were NEVER able to acheive by any stretch of the imagination and by comparison to what Sri Lanka has exemplified to the world of Her no nonsense stance against internal armed insurrection and how it was defeated.

 Very rightfully a trend which was initiated and patented by that evergreen former Matriarch of the Nation the late Hon. Sirimavo Bandaranaike whose defeat of terrorism during her incumbency albeit perhaps in a lesser perspective was nontheless a pattern which has been honed, fine tuned and successsfully executed in how the Tamil Tigers were defeated by the present Administration All Hail To That!Ironically there are certain elements within the Nation today which belonged to cells of the organization she put down who have gained political power through the process of democracy that need careful monotoring and scrutiny as they too appear to have joined in the current bandwagon to discredit the Administration and could pose a serious threat to the smooth functioning of Sri Lanka which is truly food for thought for the Rajapaksha Administration to bear in mind if it has not already surfaced on the wise assertion that “Once a terrorist Always A terrorist” with the odd exceptions of the likes of a certain Mr Gerry Adams! There are others who qualify for this recognition also who have already proved their net worth through loyalties to the Administration in an unflappable manner!

A quote from a recent bulletin by one of Sri Lanka’s most prominent and brilliant lawyer Journalists and political leaders says it all towards what the Mahinda Rajapaksha / Sarath Fonseka two pronged attack on terrorism accomplished that “The final defeat of the `killing might’ of the LTTE on the 18th May 2009 ushered in a new era to our tortured land – an era when People of all races, religions, genders, ages and walks of life could go about their normal avocations without fear of being torn to pieces by bombs exploded in or about crowded city centres, shops, buses and trains; when Tamil residents of the North and the East could rest assured that their little children would no longer be kidnapped for slave labour in the LTTE’s terrorist cadres or for use as `cannon fodder’; when Sinhalese and Moors could worship at their temples and in their Mosques, work in their fields, and sleep in their humble abodes without fear of being slaughtered en masse; and when Tamils, particularly those resident in the North and the East are secure in the knowledge that their hard earned money would not be extorted from them by the LTTE in the guise of collecting `taxes’.” and a truer assertion of the realities related have never been accentuated better!

While this is a time for great celebration in Sri Lanka and recognition of the architects of the devastating defeat of the terrorists and a time to rejoice, it is also a time to come to terms with those who despite all the acheivements of Sri Lanka’s foremost modern day heroes continue to denigrate them, create innuendo and false presentations to the world and the International Community to the contrary and are deserving of capital punishment for treason!

This then is a heaven sent opprtunity to re-build upon a new found unity amongst all ethnicities in Sri Lanka to re-build this wonderfully blessed Country of natural beauty on a firm foundation of decency and fair-play rather than discrediting Her for all the wrong reasons, particularly selfishly motivated political ambition, greed and the hunger for a power which some of the seekers of their own goals in this direction will never be able to harness towards the best interests of Sri Lanka ever, despite all the rhetoric they could muster! Their times have come and gone and they have squandered decades of opportunity to re- build Sri Lanka for the better and it is now in the hands of the real builders of Lanka to continue with their task unimpeded by traitors, turncoats and wimps who are an apology to party politics and any aspirations by their reckoning to transform Sri Lanka to a place of prosperity, posterity and tranquility are mere aspertions of the devil and insignificant attempts to undo what Sri Lankas heroes have put together as an unshakable package towards nation building! Let No man Put Assunder What Our Current Leaders have brought together From The Brink Of Disaster~ Namely The Nation Of Sri Lanka.

The lyrics of an Old West Indian Calypso worded thus: “We are a peaceful nation, struggling struggle, but we don’t look for trouble just ask around.But when foreign faces, from unknown places talk about taking over we aint backing down! ……” rings very true to the Mahinda Rajapaksha aphorism which of late gets intensified to this effect and needs to be applauded!

 What with the Amnesty International bickerings about Human Rights violations, the Hillary Clinton allegations of Army abuses on civilians, The Ban Ki Moon stutterings on what he thinks is best for Sri Lanka et al, it is amazing that the President has maintained his calm and offered pragmatism as a counter measure to all the attempts by foreign sources to undermine Sri Lanka’s Post War progress which signifies the man’s direction of dignity and composure where those who know it all are well aware that all these bickerings by Sri Lankas adversaries are on the singlemost instigation of the defeated Tamil Tiger supportives around the world hell bent at getting back in bitterness over their defeat and the vanquishing of the Tamil Tiger terrorists!

 It becomes very significant that President Mahinda Rajapaksa recent assertions are based upon his own convictions with unstinted support from an adoring as well as pereceptive majority of Lankans that he will not be swayed by worthless attempts to undermine him.

While noting that Sri Lanka’s friendly ties with the international community was strong as ever and would always work towards strengthening existing relations he was however not prepared to betray the country’s honour and bow down to unreasonable conditions or pressure exerted by outside forces which he has every right to do in the face oif all his accomplishments both on the battlefiels as well as his manouvering through the minefields of his own Parliament with his particular brand of administrative dexterity which is surely sending Sri Lanka in the right direction towards recovery from decades of conflict and related destruction inflicted by impure sources which had no right to even their existences.

What greater patriotism can someone of his stature have when he says to the world that “although we have strong and friendly relationships with other nations we are not ready to bow down in front of injustice and unreasonable conditions. We would never betray the honour of our Motherland. It comes before everything else.” It sends out a message to the world particularly those factions therein with the single motive of bringing down his adminstration through wrongful accusations with hardly a semblance of tangible proof or evidence beyond conjecture and speculation backed of course by the unfortunate circumstances of the victims in the morass which the world has now come to know as the IDP. which has to be the next fait accompi for the President to clear and restitute as one of his biggest challenges!

 His entreaties to the vast audiences he addresses of late ring out a prudent message to the people of Sri Lanka to put petty differences aside, stamp out personal objectives toward an unattainable power which perhaps is a clear message to his political opponents using all the wrong ploys to discredit him and join hands to propel the country towards lasting peace and prosperity.

 That the Presient is well aware of his adversaries’ direction with justification towards his apprehensions was made very clear when suggested that “it is unfortunate to note that some of our own countrymen who are in search of personal glory at the expense of the Motherland are engaged in a malicious campaign to discredit the Government and the war heroes in order to achieve their selfish objectives.

 In total response and respect to someone who has laid the foundation towards this objective the Nation must now rally in huge support for this brave and charismatic leader of our Nation whom we as proud Sri Lankans the world over recognize as the saviour of the Sinhala Nation!!

 In the same token the world has to recognize the imperative importance of not hampering the progress of a brave Nation and its leader through unprovoked acts of interference based on misgivings of a few petty individuals, some who have loads to clear by way of accumulated problems surrounding their own enclaves be it the USA, The UN, Amnesty International or the EU to name some who are all engrossed in the collective albeit impure objective of dancing to the tunes of storytellers and disgruntled terrorist supportives whose exaggerations by far overwhelm the reality of what is presently transpiring within Sri Lanka as a concerted and very visible aspect of Nation re-building towards posterity!

 Any attempts to undermine this by foreign powers have to be identified as deliberate in order to denigrate the progress of Sri Lanka for reasons best known to themselves as well as an unwarranted breach of the protocols governing the sovereignity of a Nation through bold albeit petty attempts at ursurpance of the mandate granted its leader by his people!

Perhaps they need to be not too politely asked to back off !

While the unprecedented victory  over Tamil Tiger Terrorism by the Rajapaksha Administration in conjunction with the Armed Forces and all the allies who provided logistical as well as armament support will undoubtedly go into the record books and make history, the greater liability on the part of the Government of Sri Lanka now is to prove to the world that Sri Lanka is indeed a very humane and compassionate country in keeping with the Buddhist principles of Ahimsa and confound all her international critics where some of them view the issue of the  most visible fallout from the terrorist conflict namely the Internally  Displaced Persons (IDP) being held in camps somewhat myopically as well as contentiously.
 
While the task of re-settling these  terribly inconvenienced and displaced persons mostly belonging to the Tamil Communities of the North and East of Sri Lanka whose sufferings have been described by many aid workers and eyewitnesses as almost inhumane and untold misery towards the accuracies by way of how deprived they are of the basic essentials of life and ” how they have been herded into secluded areas like cattle” these appear to be exaggerated towards the purpose of individuals who have not given up their ambits about a re-surgence of the LTTE.It also needs to be emphasized that despite the negative feed from these critics there is a huge ongoing effort by the Government to alleviate the sufferings of the internees where a large number of them have already been either re-settled or released towards their own pursuances of a normal life within reason and how they want to with assistance towards the need as an accompaniment.
 
However, what makes the task of the Administration more than daunting is the verifiable presenece a strong albeit residual LTTE element lurking within the camps of the IDP and it is the very isolation of these types from the innocents( not an easy task) which now need the highest priority as human suffering of the nature described by some eyewitnesses despite distortion must have roots in at least a semblance of reality and is the very essence of what the Government must now take rapid steps to correct and alleviate~ namely the sufferings of these poor victims of a wretched insurgency.They cannot be permitted to suffer anymore!
One cannot turn a blind eye on their needs while basking in the glory of victory over the terrorists as there are people with needs, men women and children who need to get back to leading normal lives and enjoy the comforts all free human beings enjoy as they have been victimised through the evils of terrorism and need to be redeemed by a very compassionate Rajapaksha Administration with a rapid deployment force insamuch as was used to defeat the terrorist enemy and their allies.
 
When some of the world agitates about their cause and pleads for their restitution it is not without reason although there remains those factions whose ulterior motives by way of demonstrations and lobbying against the Government of Sri Lanka on the world stage are very transparent and despite the catch 22 situation the GOSL faces relative to the undesirable element within the IDP camps, steps need to be taken as mentioned previously to dispell all the doubts and speculations that Sri Lanka is operating refugee camps of an undescribable nature of apathy and inconsideration towards human life as it could end up being a huge slur in the eyes of the world  regardless of accuracies and hence a top priority for the Rajapaksha Administration to clear.
 
Presently there are some foreign as well as local donor organizations who have pitched in their concerted efforts towards helping these internees  who after all have the same sensitivities and need of all of us who enjoy the liberties of an unencumbered life without the parameters of seclusion and restrictions towards amenities of sustenance and it would be gut wrenching to bear the thought even hypothetically that we as Sri Lankans in the euphoria of a tumultuous defeat over a scourge which  plagued the nation for over three decades have somehow neglected the dire needs of those displaced as a result of the effort to vanquish terrorism. 
 
That their upliftment and redemption from intense suffering might be neglected due to petty bureaucracies and a hesitancy on the part of the Government to address the issue forthwith and effectively seems totally distanced from the Rajapaksha pragmatism which encompasses all Sri Lankan where the expectations towards swift action to dismantle the IDP Camps and apprehend accurately any residual terrorist element within seems imperative and has to be rapidly forthcoming!!
 
Sri Lanka is a free and liberated Nation today, liberated from Tamil Tiger terrorism and all those liberated from the clutches of the once dreaded terrorists including the many innocents caught in the crossfire too need to be now liberated from the pitiful seclusion of the camps they are being held in where all paranoias about a resurgence of the LTTE need to be put to rest effectively through affirmative action where the freedoms of those suffering innocents within the IDP Camps must be restored to dissuade any world opinion to the contrary!

A recent item in the Toronto Star by Human Rights Watch ~ representative Jo Becker captioned “Canada missed opportunity to right Sri Lanka’s wrongs” may  be a bold instigation urging Canada to take an anti Sri Lankan Government stance while also sounding sympathetic towards the huge anti Sri Lankan Government Lobby comprising of many dissident diaspora Tamils residing in that country and needs to be put into proper perspective lest the global community is misled by this type of rhetoric.

Jo Becker says that “In voting last month to approve a $2.6 billion (U.S.) IMF loan to Sri Lanka, the Government of Canada squandered an opportunity to press the Government of Sri Lanka on its treatment of war-affected civilians following its military victory over the rebel Tamil Tigers in May.” What exactly she is suggesting sounds unclear beyond being to a degree meddlesome into a transaction by way of a concessionary loan from the IMF to the Government of Sri Lanka with the nod of many other nations which rationally agreed despite abstaining that Sri Lanka was in dire need of these funds towards the rebuilding of the areas devastated by the Tamil Tiger attrocities in the  armed insurgent insurrection which lasted over three decades~ a safe enough assumption given there being no vehement disapproval~ so what is her real beef or does she have one  at all beyond sympathies to the dissenting Tamil Diaspora’s anti Sri Lankan Government lobby?

Many discerning analysts aware of the felt need and importance of the loan are inclined to wonder inasmuch as the Government of Sri Lanka which has just about had it upto its neck on this measly issue of how the IDP’s are treated, handled and indisposed?
 
True enough The United States, United Kingdom, France, Germany and Argentina – holding more than 30 per cent of the IMF’s shares in the writer’s words made the highly unusual move of abstaining from the vote which she suggests was largely because of human rights concerns but she does not seem to see the logic that the abstenance could also nave been a non committal assent by these nations who did not want to be name called by just this kind of individual while also knowing fully well the Loan would be approved anyway!
 
While lamenting that Canada, with 3 per cent of IMF shares, didn’t join them it might be curious to know how the Canadian Government would respond to this rather bold entreaty as Canada has taken the correct step towards assent to which the Sri Lankan Government must surely be grateful and a stance which previous Liberal Administrations would certainly have vetoed in all probabilities with sympathies linked to the pro Liberal Tamil vote in Canada which was corrected by the New Conservative Administration of the Hon. Stephen Harper and his very impartial and just Government which has taken a no nonsense attitude towards all the corrupt and covert activities of the prol LTTE Tamil Diaspora which was hounded  by the Canadian Law Enforcement Agencies and virtualy disbanded or sent underground to a greater part.
 
Jo Becker is in no capacity to assert with any confidence that during the final months of fighting between the Sri Lankan Government and the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), both sides were responsible for grave violations of the laws of war that resulted in thousands of civilian deaths.This is a matter of opinion based more on conjecture and hearsay as neither was Jo Becker present in the circumstances of fighting she boldly quotes nor would she have had carte blanche to go anywhere near these areas for her own personal safety as well as  strong Governmental restrictions which entailed war measures which prevented military poicy being compromised as lessons were already learnt in this area by the leeway granted to countries like Norway previously who  turned the tables on the Government of Sri Lanka while aiding and abetting the LTTE terrorists which was unquestionably a move the Government had to take as a preventive measure!
 
But in the typical fashion of other biased sources such as the BBC as well as many other news engines with minimal information where even what was available distorted to suggest to the contrary of the real situation harping on the faults of the Sri Lankan Government fighting a deadly war against ruthless and merciless terrorists who hardly gave a damn who they were decimating including their own community this news item is no different towards bias!
 
So what are these grave violations of the Laws of War Jo Becker is talking about? This was a war being fought by a Sovereign Democratic Republic against globally condemned terrorists and no case for anyone to suggest that the terrorists had any rights towards their existences which the Government very correctly addressed and saw to it was terminated effectively!
 
Case in point that this is indeed a pro LTTE sympathetic  call, is visibly seen in the following excerpt!” As their territory shrank, the Tamil Tigers used the civilians under their control as human shields, shooting and killing people who tried to flee the war zone. The Government urged civilians to congregate in so-called “no-fire” zones, but then fired artillery indiscriminately into these densely populated areas. Both sides refused to take adequate steps to allow a humanitarian evacuation, despite public UN concerns regarding the unfolding bloodbath.” where firstly there was no bloodbath nor was there any indiscriminate firing by Government troops into densely populated civilian enclaves and Jo Becker perhaps needs to do a bit of soul searching to find out where she really got these ideas into her head beyond the fairy tales she probably heard from her pals in the Tamil Diaspora!

She has however correctly cited the attrocities of the Tamil Tiger terrorists which were  even then understated as the Military reports suggest they were heinous and inhuman and perhaps towads Jo Becker’s own chagrin, quite credible!
 
To cite as an issue that “IMF officials and their directors typically insist that human rights are outside the IMF’s mandate, but in this case members’ revulsion with Sri Lanka’s conduct during and after the war delayed the vote on Sri Lanka’s requested loan by three months.” sounds more of a lament by a defeatist with no other hinge to prop her case towards her objectives than faulting the IMF and  members entitled to vote where in the overall scheme of things the IMF has granted the loan whether Jo Becker likes it or not and to attempt to spoke the wheels of progress in Sri Lanka merely to appease the Tamil Diaspora and the huge anti Sri Lankan Government lobby in Canada even in the future, is a poor as well as unrealistic attempt on anyones part if what is cited is not tangible enough for Canada as well as the IMF grantees of the loan to accept!
 
Next she goes on to quote( now sounding distinctly frustrated) that ” In May, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said it was not an appropriate time to consider the IMF loan, while U.K. Foreign Secretary David Miliband called the situation a civilian catastrophe and expressed concern about whether the government would use IMF funds in a responsible and appropriate way.”

History has now proved where these two individuals were coming from and in a sense  admonished by many as pro Tiger sympathetic  which has contained their rhetoric on the issue thus far although Milliband still offers a chirp or two not being an easy quitter and Clinton has virtually backed off in denial feigning ignorance on many related issues!
 
 Unfortunately for Jo Becker, Canada’s vote to support the loan to all intents and purposes has to be interpreted as an endorsement of confidence in Sri Lanka’s credibilities and legitimate right to the loan with an unquestionable felt need.When Sri Lanka’s pro-government Daily News claimed that the vote “vindicated” the government and further stated with confidence that by refusing to make human rights concessions based on speculative accusations and fabricated circumstances pointing only to innocent civilians quite forgetting the danger of infiltrators of the terrorists plotting towards a re-surgance within the fold of the IDP, President Mahinda Rajapaksa has quite justifiably refused to compromise the country’s sovereignty and independence.
 
The Sri Lankan Government’s Minister of Export Development and Trade, Prof.G.L. Peiris, called the loan “a clear vote of confidence.” and a very intellectual assesment which cannot be contested regardless of the sob stories and unmitigated paranoia created just for the purpose of spoking the wheels of progress in Sri Lanka as it appears!  

The less interference by unwelcome meddlers into Sri Lanka’s handling of re-settling the IDP’s the better it would be towards posterity and would perhaps facilitate the progress required by all concerned.Organizations such as Human Rights Watch whose habit it appears is to interfere rather than aid the required progress, should focus on other areas in the world which truly have a visible and felt need towards restitution rather than bicker over a Nation’s progress equitably handled by its very capable leadership and his team of Administrators or be mistaken as pandering to its adversaries!

Addendum to Lankaweb Weekly Editorial:

Subsequent to the latest editorial on the main topic of the new LTTE leadership of Pathmanathan alias KP almost coincidentally the man in question has been arrested in Bangkok, Thailand where he has been living with a Thai wife and not in Malaysia as reported erroneously and the error is regretted. The call for his arrest however appears to have been fulfilled.
 
Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Defence Quoting Brig.Gen.Udaya Nanayakkara SLAF has reported that Selvarasa Pathmanadan alias KP has been arrested by Sri Lankan law enforcement officers where the details of the arrest are not elaborate at present although the news was broadcast on Sri Lanka’s state owned ITN television in several special news bulletins which attested to the arrest of  the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam’s self-proclaimed leader , following the death at the hands of the Sri Lankan’s military, of previous LTTE supremo Velupillai Prabhakaran.
 
Upon confirmation this could mean a greater impact towards closure of LTTE influences globally as well as  in Sri Lanka and smother any chances of a resurgence of the organization. Pathmanathan despite the clean cut image he was attempting to present to the global community bore shades of another LTTE theatrical genius the late  Anton Balasingham who all but fooled many who thought he was a genuine liberator but turned out to be a mendacious and duplicitous criminal together with his wife who not only trained  women LTTE cadre but also has the reputation of murdering innocent children but where are they now beyond contemptible nefarious historical records. Pathmanathan according to the profiles on him is also a dangerous a terrorist as was his predecessor who is wanted by Interpol on many counts as well as the Indian Government for his role in the assasination of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and also has the notoriety of being the Tamil Tiger terrorist outfit’s former procurer of weapons  and armaments. He became the most senior LTTE ’official remaining alive when the Supremo of the group refered to earlier Prabhakaran  and his most senior comrades were killed  in Mullaitivu by the Sri Lanka Armed Forces.
 
A man of many faces, a con artist as well as an impersonator who travelled many countries in various disguises and dealt in many forms of criminal activity now appears to be under arrest as his past seems to have finally caught up with him.

The question is,will there be others who might try to follow in his footsteps ?and if so let this arrest be a deterrent towards Sri Lanka remaining an LTTE free environment where the punishments needing to be meted out to Pathmanathan should be stringent within the law!

The Tamil Tigers by definition have been mowed down, exterminated and vanquished by the Rajapaksha Administration and the Sri Lankan Armed Forces, all kudos to which are in order but what then is this resurgence of another Tamil Tiger Organization under the leadrship of one K. Pathamanathan said to be in hiding in Malaysia and if so why are the Malaysian authorities harbouring him while providing him safe haven instead of arresting him and handing him over to the Sri Lankan Authorities? Should not any links to the Tamil Tigers be considered criminal by virtue of world consensus and its participants therefore also being criminally liable?
 
Is this some kind of joke that there are reports of a continuing Tamil Tiger organization with this
 K.Pathmanathan who is  said to have been appointed as the ‘Leader of the Tamil Tiger Organization’ recently and sees “bringing together the International interest to coincide with the Tamil Tiger interest”  as his primary task before him. Or does the man need psychiatric evaluation?
 
Furthermore is this not an affront to all of the efforts of the Sri Lankan Administration and the Armed Forces who wiped out the LTTE in their entirety despite which there are reports of the resurgence of the same organization in exile under a new leadership where references are  being made to this  K.Pathmanathan and blatantly so which should not only be scoffed at albeit with a wary eye open but also is deserving of zero publicity and tolerance towards the effort to publicise it in the best interests of the prevention of global terrorism as well as those of Sri Lanka!
 
What international interests might there be to coincide with Tamil Tiger  interests? the more discerning should ask relative to the Tamil Tiger Organization  this Pathamanathan is attempting to spring up from the burnt ashes of a terrorist organization  the LTTE which has been effectively put down or are there sources in the global community still around apart from the disgruntled and defeated Tamil Diaspora interested in a resurgence of the LTTE?
 
This individual Pathmanathan is  no more than a terrorist  as well as a protegee of Velupillai Prabhakaran and one who managed to slip the security cordon of the Sri Lankan Authorities and seems to have found a safe haven in his overseas domicile presumed to be Malaysia. He has the nerve to suggest quoting from a press report~ and a press which probably has been ill advised to publicise such trash that ~” though Prabhakaran nursed great hopes of international intervention during the period of the war ( internal armed insurrection a better definition),  those did not realize because the international interests and the Tamil Tiger interests were not brought on a par. ” which is totally incomprehensible and irrational considering the realities that Prabhakaran’s idealogies were related to terror, murder and mayhem where no international community would even consider  bringing on a par any interests whether Tamil or not  with international interests unless the spread of global terrorism was the objective which then becomes laughable beyond the metaphor!
 
Not a thousand Pathmanathans nor their like minded ilk could ever convince any sensible person or persons at whetever level of administration though garbled rhetoric to moot, that Prabhakaran and the LTTE had any good intentions towards either the Tamil community or  the Nation of Sri Lanka as history has now proved!In fact the freedom loving Tamil Community is said to be breathing a huge sigh of releif that the menace of Prabhakaran related terrorism has been wiped out in its entirety and they are free of his clutches and past attrocities!
 
 
Hopefully lessons have been learned by both Sri Lanka as well as the global community through decades of strife due to LTTE terrorism that the likes of Pathmanathan must never be permitted any leeway towards re-kindling LTTE sentiments as this is all the man seems to be attempting to do and the amazement of it all is he has an audience thanks to the blinkered approval of certain areas of the international media who have chosen to publicise his idealogies which are tantamount to the same old LTTE objectives of resuging the contentious thrust for Eelam although in somewhat of a disguise to all appearances unless one reads between the lines and is fine tuned to the ‘music’!
 
There seems an eerie pattern of similarities hovering around the Pathmanathan idealogies attempting to re-gain recognition for the Tamil Tigers with those of the early days of Velupillai Prabhakaran as Tamil freedom fighter following his announcement that his biggest challenge is to bring the interests of the International community and the Indian interests on a par where he has attempted to coerce the Indian media to extend its support to the Tamil Eelam Cause but India should neither be swayed nor fooled by this. Did Prabhakaran too not commence his campaign by approaching India for support and did India not respond through the Tamil Nadu campaigns of arms , training and logistic support  for the LTTE ? or have these anomalies of aberration been forgotten all too soon? Aren’t these the lessons which must never be forgotten by both India and Sri Lanka relative to the dire repercussions which followed and took nearly four decades to clear?
 
 In his present mode of campaign K Pathmanathan has to be deemed another criminal of the same ilk as Velupillai Prabhakaran and arrested by the authorities of whichever country he is hiding in and neither Sri Lanka nor the Global  Community, incorporating all the countries which have categorically banned the LTTE as terrorists should half as much as tolerate another mirror image of Prabbhakaran as is Pathmanathan to all intents and purposes.
 
His pleas to release the Tamils within the IDP without proper scrutiny seems none other than a ploy to get the many LTTE cadre known to be in hiding amongst some 300,000 refugees released so that they can re-establish the old criminalities of the Prabhakaran era it has to be presumed with conviction and is this a chance the Sri Lankan Administration could ever take?
 
While Pathmanathan needs to be sought after, arrested and brought to justice in lieu of this not being possible in the case of Prabhakaran who had the easy way out there should be no sympathies directed towards his idle rhetoric which carries the same old tune as that of the LTTE of yore but with different lyrics!
 
The camps of the Internally Displaced People (IDP) in the meantime need to be disbbanded with care, proper re-settlement and reconciliation notwithstanding and all terrorist elements treated equitably within the law if they cannot establish bona fides which whilst being time consuming and perhaps even long drawn would still be in the best interests of Sri Lanka, neighbouring India as well as the global community who will then rest easy with no fear of the resurgence of the LTTE under any guise!

The previous editorial was captioned “Message To All Harbingers Of Doom And Ill Wishers Of Sri Lanka~ BACK OFF!” While reiterating this suggestion it has to be noted with much enthusiasm that on an even note all the calls for a waiving of the IMF Loan to Sri Lanka have been politely overlooked by the US and the IMF in granting the loan which is indicative of the realities upon which the loan was approved for which much gratitude and appreciation are in order. Incentive enough to direct the Government on the right path regardless of the negative prophets and their doomsday calls!

 There are many entities and individuals in dismay as a result of the IMF decision which has shattered their self opinionated judgements on Sri Lanka as “human rights violators” and therefore in their opinion undeserving of the huge loan, who need to even at this late stage clam up and let Sri Lanka get on with her affairs as it is such interferences that in truth prolongated the end to the demise of the LTTE and gave false hope to the Tamil Diaspora in favour of secession which of course was a burst bubble in the end and now it is time for rebuilding, reconciliation and a superhuman effort to set things right in Sri Lanka rather than throwing spanners in the works as devised by the Administration on the part of its adversaries.

 And to those still rumbling about the demerits of the IMF loan it must once again be said “back off!”

 To the great joy of the Sri Lankan Administration and her people the International Monetary Fund (IMF) approved the $ 2.6 billion loan to Sri Lanka amid opposition from several countries including those from certain misguided sources from the US, EU, Canada and Britain et al voicing concerns over human rights abuses.

 Britain consequently and unsurprisingly abstained from voting on the loan. British financial secretary to the treasury Stephen Timms said it was “not the right time for the program.” A day before the loan was approved the New York-based Human Rights Watch (HRW) criticised the IMF for readying to hand it out.” quoting from a recent press release but who in heaven’s name are these sources to pass judgement and attempt to block the very essence of what Sri Lanka needs towards posterity as though they control the destiny of Sri Lanka?

 To this motley bunch one might also add the turncoat Canadian Liberal MP who cannot seem to stay away from Sri Lankan matters as though it is his birthright~ Mr Bob Rae who also joined the fray calling for a discontinuance of the IMF loan and to him in particular it best needs to be said “Phooey Mr Rae! just stick to matters in your own backyard and make sure they do not constitute further dabbling in Pro LTTE sympathies which the Canadian Liberals seem to have a partiality for in order to assert their electoral strength in a possible forthcoming election whether Provincial or Federal!

 For the IMF with US sanctions to have approved a loan in the region of some $600 million in excess of what the Sri Lankan Government had asked for speaks volumes for the manner in which the assesment and approval have been made and the criteria thereto which despite the clarion calls using the IDP in refugee camps as the main excuse have not really been an issue as it signifies the confidence the US as well as the IMF have in the capabilities of the Rajapaksha Adminstration to carry out equitably the task of re-settling the people involved where a greater emphasis perhaps has been paid to how best the loan would facilitate the Government’s effort in the best interests of the IDP. Prudence by the wise ! one might add as opposed to a few voices in the wilderness!

 Indeed there are hundreds of thousands of people penned up in these camps through necessity rather than choice albeit a far cry from being “a reward for bad behaviour,’’ as the HRW has had the nerve to suggest as it is the attrocities of the Tamil Tigers that created a need for these camps in the first place in case the likes of the HRW, Bob Rae and the British Parliamentarians have forgotten and it is now upto the Sri Lankan Administration to attend to their outstanding needs without further hindrance or impediments and the task made that much easier thanks to the US and the IMF for their astute wisdom of judgement! It also needs emphasis that the Global Tamil diaspora too carried out an online campaign to stop the loan which is a perceivable attempt to strike back in embitterment at the defeat of their champions the LTTE surely to which the US and the IMF appear to have paid scant attention!

 In obvious jubilation the Rajapaksha Administration has acclaimed that the IMF loan regardless of all the opposition to it was approved saying that ” no outsider should dictate terms about human rights abuses” which are more speculative and conjecturial than bearing any real semblance to the truth where there are undeniably many difficulties and hardships faced by such a tumultuous number of displaced people but their needs are being met to the best capabilities of the authorities and aid workers concerned relative to the resources available where the approval of the IMF loan has becomes imperative towards hastening the restitutions of the IDPs to the fullest measure!

The charge has been delivered, the enemy vanquished, that is the enemy within but what about the enemy without? Why are they still lurking with their undercurrents of continued lies, innuendo and false information almost as if to pacify the mourners of the damnable LTTE which makes them not only damnable but reprehensible obstacles towards the return of normalcy to an Nation beseiged by decades of insurgent terrorism.

 So is it not time appropriate for entities like the UK Times , the IMF, the UNHCR, Amnesty International and European Union etc etc. to back off on their biased as well as bipartisan stances against the Government of Sri Lanka and get the hell out of the face of Sri Lanka and Sri Lankan affairs to be more precise? What is this huge obsession to continue to pander to the residual diaspora pro LTTE elements as surely this is what it appears to be to all intents and purposes and is merely hurting their own images of credibility rather than having any gainful effect towards the needs of Sovereign Sri Lanka, her posterity and well being.

It surely seems about time if not long overdue to get it into their thick numbskulls for whatever it is worth that the terrorism in Sri Lanka is a matter of the past, gone for good, dissapeared and evaporated from the environs of the Nation never to resurface and if the rhetoric of these entities are intended to disrupt the meaningful proceedings and already appearing favourable progress of the Rajapaksha regime they are barking up the wrong tree.The task to reconcile and rebuild may be daunting, the progress may be slow but there is light at the end of the tunnel and no further provocations nor obstacles from extraneous pundits can be deemed tolerable anymore! Their days are surely over so why persist in their meaningless rhetoric?

Quoting a recent writeup on the same topic it has been said with great assertion and conviction that quote “They seem to have nothing else to do other than meddling into affairs of a country, which is trying to turn a page, after that long episode of suffering to attend to other matters that had long been postponed to give priority to the elimination of terrorism.” end quote and in response it needs to be added “so what are they trying to acheive at the end of their rhetoric?” but NOTHING BEYOND FURTHER COMPLICATING AN ALREADY COMPLICATED ISSUE! with an overawed world perhaps in audience.

 These big mouths whose reputations are preceded by big titles such as the Times, EU etc etc seemingly owe a bigtime apology to the Nation of Sri Lanka that they are indeed guilty of verbal terrorism on the Sri Lankan Government as suggested by an irate observer where it has been done with the intention of distorting as much as possible the image of Sri Lanka and this has to stop with immediate effect!

 This unless they want to be labelled meddlers into the internal affairs of the Sri Lankan Government and its Armed Forces at a time when help, assistance and positive input are the only factors needed. Enough meddling has been done already by many others including Norway, India in the past, Canada, the UK and even the USA who share a fair amount of blame towards guilts involved where the smooth functioning of Sri Lanka towards eliminating the terrorists were hampered where the singleminded resolve of Sri Lanka with the help of genuine allies not some in pretence have prevailed.

Sri Lanka presently seems plagued by that proverbial attempt on the part of her enemies who never cease to persist in trying again and again! Having failed in their previous attempts to fetter and ruffle administrative proceedings while resorting to the most devious and shameful means to discredit her in the eyes of the international community their putrid attempts continue! But all to no effect as the transparencies related are being exposed through the very obvious faux pas’ committed by these self imposed autocrat lackeys who call themselves organizations and journals of credibility with no real hope of true recognition as contributors towards Sri Lanka’s progress in the post LTTE era when they are merely resorting to draconian as well as machiavellian means to get their twisted points of view across and need to be profiled as diabolical liars with criminal intent!

 In the final days of the Armed Forces push to eliminate the terrorists of the LTTE it became very apparent that these meddlers into the internal affairs of Sri Lanka would stop at nothing despite the bewilderment of many discerning observers and analysts some visibly angered and dismayed and in full cognizance of what their real objectives were! To appease the flailing mindset of a depleted diaspora desperate to recussitate the dying terror organization but all to no avail as history has proved!

 When attempts to gain access to the no fire zone failed the falsely and grossly exaggerated stories of violations of human rights became rife as well as falsely projected reports of Armed Forces violations against civilians ~ the furthest from the truth as all these were attrocities attributable to the terrorists according to eyewitness reports and little other!

 When all of these ploys failed their ultimate indiscretion perhaps through diaspora instigation ably backed by certain NGO’s it is presumed was to implant pro – LTTE doctors within the confines of the refugee camps and the hospitals in these areas and prompted to lie about statistics of casualties and misrepresent the true facts about what was happening to bring disrepute to the GOSL as well as the SLAF.

 This however was hardly a hindrance to the tour de force of the Armed Forces who eventually wiped out the terrorists and the world breathed a sigh of relief that the world’s most dangerous terror group was engaged by perhaps the bravest army in the world and scrubbed off the face of Sri Lanka and yet despite the magnitide of the accomplishment these putrid elements still continue to breathe malfeasance into the progress of the Island Nation and its brave leadership of many fronts including administrative as well as military!!

 This is a message to all the harbingers of doom and ill wishers of Sri Lanka that the accomplishments of the Rajapaksha Admiistration and the Armed Forces of Sri Lanka will never be compromised nor intimidated by the falsely presented rhetoric of the forces currently attempting to undermine them in the face of frustrations of the defeat of the LTTE and need to be warned that lest they stop their collective rhetoric and meddling there is always the grave and imminent danger of terrorism comparable to that of the LTTE cropping up in their own domains where the deeper implication would rest on misinterpreted sympathies!

June 27th 2009 To the UNP MP who has suggested that the majority Sinhalese community should tender an apology in brotherhood to the Tamil minority for the wrongs committed against them in the past, it must be said ” get real” as there is no apology needed by the Sinhalese to the Tamils unless it reflects back to a time when during a previous hegemonistic as well as senseless administration certain UNP marauders carrying household lists of residents went from door to door with a murderous mob behind them attacking innocent Tamils for which heinous crime, atonements have not as yet been made!

 This although not a direct responsibility of the Rajapaksha Administration is something which perhaps needs to be compensated for and could be part of the reconciliation package to the Tamils while remembering the many whose houses and properties were destroyed and the many innocent victims who lost their lives due to a shameful Sinhalese backlash in the not too distant past where most of it is now history!And don’t be misled! the term Sinhalese backlash was not an incorporation of all Sinhalese people but applicable to a minority of dissidents whose actions appeared to be majority mob fury when in reality it wasn’t!

The remarks made during a media briefing at the Opposition Leader’s Office in Colombo on June 26th 2009 seems worthless rhetoric if it is relative to the state of current affairs within the Nation and the overwhelming victory by the Sri Lankan Armed Forces over the terrorists of the LTTE as there were no quarters given and none asked in how the Forces accomplished victory and the only apology if forthcoming plausibly needs to be from the Global Tamil diaspora as well as the obnoxious leaders of Tamil Nadu who continued to foment and fan the fires of LTTE attrocities which continued for more than three decades and almost brought the Sovereign Nation of Sri Lanka to its knees both economically as well as emotionally where the terrorists once held sway in a manner thought impossible to overcome but with utter gratitude to the brave leadership of Mahinda Rajapaksha and the incredibly powerful Armed Forces a situation which was seemingly impossible thwarted for the betterment of all Sri Lankans and their beloved land.

The is absolutely no right for any panhandling disgruntled UNP opposition members to talk about apologizing to the Tamils or suggest that the Tamils would conversely apologize to the Sinhalese for what was termed wrongs as in a time of reconciliation and rebuilding it is the strength of current National Unity which must prevail not namby pamby apologies or crocodile tears shed towards a near catastrophic debacle which in all reality should never have transpired.

 There should be celebration amongst all Sri Lankans that the worst is now over and that the mistakes of the past relative to administrative faux pas’ and neglect should never ever raise their ugly heads as the price paid for them have been heavy.

There is no call for observations that the Government was yet to treat the wounded hearts of the Tamil people at a time when the country rejoices the defeat of terrorism, as the Government within its means is doing everything to compensate for and accommodate the pains of the Tamil people despite all the negative murmurs of disgruntled UNPers which is merely indicative of dank opportunism on their part by a political group which has not given up the aspirations to hold the reins of power again but on a prediactable note this will not transpire in the near future as it is H.E. the President who presently holds the reins of Power and Victory and is a compassionate albeit pragmatic man who envisions a great future for the nation of Sri Lanka which will entail the needs of all her citizens!.

The rhetoric of the UNP at the present time should focus more on a general theme incorporating the needs of all Sri Lankans where everything possible should be done to ensure the welfare of every ethnicity not just the Tamils people all of whom suffered one way or another through LTTE attrocities and exaggerations of untold hardships in displaced camps in the north need to be toned down towards the sanity which needs to prevail for the Administration to continue its tasks ahead not impediments by way of worthless rhetoric.The task of re-settling the displaced is by no means easy, any terrorist infiltrators need to be weeded out and many adjustments made towards facilitating the task and in the end there will be the required satisfactions on the part of everyone concerned as the singlemost disruptive factor the LTTE are no more in the picture!

To highlight people’s hopes for national stability after the war ended as being dashed according to UNP rhetoric is wrong and uncalled for as Government affiliates and ministers accused of making contradictory statements on the 13th constitutional amendment and the All Party Conference appear to have been taken out of context at a time when urgent measures to stabilize the mood of the country with respect to all ~ not only those displaced in redugee camps is imperative and no harbingers of doom needing to be tolerated regardless of whether it is a matter of free speech or expression .They veritably need to be trashed if they are inappropriate towards the right direction being taken by the Administration.

The UNP appears to be making a grave mistake in fomentic panic amongst certain sectors of the country’s communities giving rise to uncalled for speculations about people who value democracy being in a dilemma as to what would happen to their rights, which despite being etched in stone relative to Sri Lankan Government Policy is now facing an attempt by opposition members to hijack it towards their own putrid means of regaining administrative power but a cheap shot which will never have the required effect if this is indeed the case!

After defeating the LTTE militarily, something past Administrations or Militaries could not accomplish effectively the Government has every right to bask in the glory of success while not forgetting the needs of the people who have bee displaced and it seems foolhardy on the part of any UNP opposition member/s to suggest the contrary and make statements which not only sound treasonous but are a typical reflection of the modus operandi of the disgruntled entourage of the UNP which needs to bear in mind that it was under the weak and condescending leaderships of J.R Jayawrdena, R. Premadasa and Ranil Wickremasinghe that the Nation of Sri Lanka was all but betrayed into the hands of her enemies and suffered so much.And that it was the Rajapaksha Administration which recussitated the nation eventually in an unprecedented victory over terrorism!

There is hardly a need for advice by the Opposition to be directed to the Government not to destroy the aspirations of the people, for stability and development of the Nation. which are items foremost on the agenda of the Rajapaksha Administration which is not a miracle working organization where the machinery towards progress and the best interests of the Nation and her people will be made manifest and set in place as a foremost priority which of course will take time with many obstacles to be cleared, foremost of which seems to be the hampering and interference of the UNP Opposition who never seem to give up!!

For the length of the Sri Lankan terrorist insurrection there has been a continued interference into Administraitve decisions by unwelcome sources on various pretexts.Whether it was the EU, UK, the UN, The State of Tamil Nadu or the USA to name some where the implications do not differ from being disruptive and contentious to the smooth functioning of a democracy within a sovereign nation as is Sri lanka.

It is high time this was pointed out to the world with the foremost objective of putting a stop to it as the insurgent problem which lasted virtually three decades is finally over and Sri Lanka should be left alone to handle her own affairs which she has done equitably to the task of ridding the nation, of terrorists and will continue with the same equitability towards Nation re-building.

After all the problem was resolved favourably with no thanks to any of the entities mentioned previously who whether surreptiously or not backed the LTTE until their eventual condemnation and annihilation was it not? On this basis any proferred help if it is negative rhetoric albeit of positive sounding suggestions is worthless to the huge task of rebuilding the nation which was devastated by 26 years of mendacious terrorism by the worthless LTTE terrorists who have finally been laid to rest and the plans to rebuild was already on the drawing boards being set in place at this very moment! The best help and support any aspiring foreign source can do is probably letting Sri Lanka manage this although contributions towards its co-ordination and execution would probably be very welcome if the means were tangible and resourceful.

What is needed now is international co-operation to the task through tangible means rather than the rhetoric of advice by some, particularly those who made every attempt to block various Aid Programs and initiate calls of Human Rights Violations, Crimes Against Humanity etc. until they were blown away by the assertions of the powers who knew the real truth about Sri Lanka and if the USA wants to help and co-coperate with the Development Program they would be better off cutting out the speeches while remembering that they too contributed to the complications of Sri Lanka’s terrorist dilemma to a degree althugh they now seem to have come full circle to the famous old adage of kissing the hand which could not be lopped off!

A so called ‘Influential Senator is said to have advised Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa that he needs to take steps to show a “serious commitment” towards achieving a political solution to the decades-long ethnic problem and genuinely addressing the needs of the minority Tamils following the defeat of LTTE, so what was it the President was doing ever since he took oath of office other than initiating these very same steps genuinely, may it be asked of this pundit senator?

There is hardly a need to urge President Rajapaksa to take steps now to demonstrate a serious commitment to a political solution short of being ridiculous and an affront to his credibility and integrity!
Being a practical, compassionate, highly intelligent and pragmatic leader who knows the needs of his country better than most and least of all some humbucking senator from the USA talking about the the rule of law, and genuinely addressing the needs of the Tamil people,” as though he wrote the book on it!!These procedures were initiated long before the senator ~by name of Russ Feingold started his litany recently on the Senate Floor where perhaps he should turn his attention to other parts of the world in real need of redressing with huge needs imperative to their well being as multitudinously oppressed and impoverished Nations where the rule of Law and the needs of the people are far rmoved fom acceptable norms.

Regarding the references made to ” the passion and effort with which the world’s diplomats have demanded peace and respect for civilians throughout the conflict” it was almost a stumbling block towards the smooth operations of the Armed Forces who had to constantly check their onward march in order to appease the international community spurred on by the entreaties of such, backed by organizations whose knowledge of what went on within the country with repect to the problems based mostly on hearsay and speculation.They hampered operations even at the penultimate stage of the campaign to vanquish the terrorists and synonymously free the entrapped civilians which ordeal is now mercifully over!

Indeed donor countries must remain actively engaged and dedicated towards a lasting resolution to the issue as the senator has been quoted as saying where just a few weeks ago there was this attempt to block humanitarian aid which was ultimately rejected and the progam now approved with no stumbling bocks towards the its execution and dispensation.

Concerns expressed and broadcast over the various news media globally about the humanitarian situation in the country where this particular Senator has said the Sri Lankan Government must not shirk its responsibility to help the displaced people return to their homes swiftly and safely are meritworthy. Perhaps towards objectives but unnecessary as the responsibilities alluded to were being carried out by the Sri lankan Administration long before the worthy Senator pointed it out in the US Senate as a felt need.

The Sri lankan Authorities however have been faced with a daunting task in this respect as there are many considerations including terrorist infiltration and managing a multitude of refugees with limited resources, where as expected the progress is slow but sure to accelerate once the many snags confronting it are removed.

That the international community needs to provide assistance to help these people return home safely and re-settled as well as finding permanent solutions towards their needs are priorities the Government is well aware of while making every attempt towards resolution.

In this respect advice is hardly necessary from sources who need to put their money where their mouths are or refrain from high faluting rhetoric which really serves no purpose!

The LTTE have been vanquished due to the incredible efforts of the Sri Lankan Administration and the Armed Forces and the scourge which plagued the Nation for over 25 years is over. It is indeed a time for celebration while also being humble about the success as there has been much suffering which will take an extended healing process and reconciliation to heal completely and has affected both sides of the conflict.

It is nevertheless a history making unprecedented victory over terrorism and the next battle the Administration will face is one of mind over matter and has to do with the Tamil Diaspora overseas whose global cliques and groups of silent terror mongers never seem to want to admit defeat through a continued show of resentment that all their attempts to overrun the legitimately universally franchised, Sovereign Nation of Sri Lanka have failed. It is an attempt to discredit her through falsified information and innuendo which has also failed miserably and now their only resort is to create terror in global locales and attack unarmed peaceful citizens of Sri Lanka of the Sinhalese community domiciled overseas which indicates their worthless calibre and low mentality.

While all this goes on they have the nerve to call for embargoes and financial restrictions on the Nation’s Foreign Aid providers as well as tribunals for crimes against humanity where their echoes seem to have swayed the puny minds of a few foreign power representatives who in all probabilities need psychiatric evaluation!

This appears to be the next assignment facing the Sri Lankan Administration, to confront through legal negotiation with the respective administrations in foreign locations and once again the world needs to be made aware that the Tamil Diaspora Overseas have qualified themselves to be likened to the LTTE terrorists by their hateful and irresponsible conduct in countries such as Auatralia, the UK, Canada and very soon many other countries where these expatriate Tamils have found refuge and the various admninistrations will be faced with the daunting task of keeping them under check or reading the riot act to them as a result of their criminal activity!!

They have begun a call for war crimes probes and sanctions against the Sri Lankan Government and her Military while garnering support from sympathetic sources in the US, UN, the EU and UK citing conduct during the campaign to eliminate the LTTE as criminal and the Government has responded very justifiably that US, UN and British troops most ironically will have to be hauled before tribunals first if any charges are brought against Sri Lanka’s armed forces where other nations such as Israel, Burma, Zimbabwe to name some are also equally culpable of crimes against humanity to add to the list already mentioned and it could mean roping a whole slew of globally liable criminal nations who have shamefully suppressed their own people where Sri lanka appears to be an epitome of non liability by comparison.

In this respect Sri Lanka almost seems sanctimonious and honorable in how the oppressed Tamil minority has been treated humanely and compassionately where their very liberation to freedom from the LTTE terrorists was indicative of this beyond a doubt! That they showed scant respect to the terrorists who tried to destroy Sri Lanka hardly needs evaluation as anything beyond utmost and imperative justification!

That there are vast numbers of Tamil Civilians who escaped the clutches and attrocities of the Tamil terrorists and are being confined in a secured encampment while their surrounds are checked for any terrorists who may have infiltrated into their midst surreptitiously should bear no consequence to the falsified definitions of Governmental attrocities laid by anti Government sources as the people confined to these camps will be released to pursue their future in a free and unimpeded environment with facilities towards a fresh start as the Adminiastration has indicated.

 Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa already a hero in the minds of many Sri Lankans has accused unnamed foreign elements of trying to discredit the military offensive “by threatening to haul the administration before war crimes tribunals” and declared that he was even ready “to go to the gallows” for defeating the Tamil rebels which speaks much for his resolve and the confidence he has of his self esteem and honour reflected by the mood of the Nation presently in how the war against the LTTE terrorists was conducted.

Many analysts have pointed out that Sri Lankan Forces have done a darnsight better job as Fait Accompli than all the forces anywhere in the world when it comes to civilian casualties where every possible precautions were taken to prevent a major civilian catastrophe which came close to manifestation by the LTTE terrorists who pursued them relentlessly attacking them while fleeing until they themselves were gunned down by the meticulous Sri Lankan Army eventually so what are the Sri Lankan Tamil Diaspra backed foreign powers talking about?
