Several weeks ago, a team from University of Kelaniya revealed the presence of arsenic in drinking water in the Rajarata area and in commonly-used pesticides. Furthermore, they related this finding with Rajarata’s chronic kidney disease.  Later, another investigation carried out by Industrial Technology Institute (ITI) found that arsenic is present only in two brands of pesticides out of about twenty eight. France admits arming Libyan rebels
France has become the first country to openly admit it has supplied the Libyan rebels with weapons – a measure officially banned by the UN Security Council resolutions 1970 and 1973. ­A French military spokesman, Colonel Thierry Burkhard, said the arms, including machine guns, rocket-propelled grenades, as well as munitions, were parachuted in to besieged rebels. Another story again about police brutality!  I was terribly shocked when I heard a police man (A real devil) shot and killed a motor cyclist as he did not stop at a police check-point.  It could happen to anyone!  What happened in the Katunayake free trade zone is another tragedy in which police took the laws on to their hands to shoot unarmed civilians who were just bystanders.
